    People talk crap about the Seoul diodes but they are one of the fastest growing companies in the world and 4th in LEDs. Some people talk crap because they are from Korea but that's also where Samsung is from.

      Good since some people can't afford hlg they can get something similar for a fraction of the price, Sometimes several lights. I have a hlg 650r and several spider farmer lights and they both grow just fine. I hope more companies copy them so they'll bring the price down

      @@jackmove916 yeah man unfortunately the older led tech had some reliability issues. It really was industry wide which is why so many hps growers have a bad taste of led. Now things are much much better. I haven’t seen a burnt diode or failed driver in my grow in years.

    I ordered one of these recently. Can't wait to try it out. Also ordered a cheap light from E-bay that looks like a knock off of Spider Farmer called Sunshine Farmre 4000w. Farmre spelled just like that. I'd like to see you review this light if possible. A big light like that for $220 can't be too bad a deal. Even if its slightly lower than what they say. Thanks Again 😎👍

    I would have liked to see par measurements at 34 inches. Im assuming it would have evened out the readings a bit.

    • @Justintime2grow
      @Justintime2grow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It won’t. They all get weaker as you raise the light due to the inverse square law. I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work the way you think it does. The only way to bring up the edges is to extend the fixture longer. The angle and distance is too much, this light barely is able to cover this space effectively. But it does it.

    Why do you think they designed it with high intensity blue and such a subdued intensity for red...? all of the more expensive lights have higher comparative levels of red or even equal levels of blue and red... Using "cool white spectrum" leds as a cost basis... red is only 10x more expensive but blue and far red is 30x more expensive. So it wasn't to save money it actually cost more... they made a decision and it makes me curious. What do you think? I believe that I'm understanding that cost data right. I also know from your video that their levels tested even lower then they claim for red intensity but even by design they had always Intended to have high blue and lower reds. Do they know something we don't? Remember I'm talking about comparative levels of red and blue regardless of intensity between Chinese lights and American counter parts.

    • @Justintime2grow
      @Justintime2grow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not that big of a deal. A few people took one tiny thing I said about red being low on my readings from the pic in the manual and maybe a little low if that’s what you want and just have overthought it and exaggerated the effect that the slightly different spectrum would have. It’s really not a big deal. I’ve flowered even with 4000k led before and it was amazing. If anything a more blue spectrum helps with stretching and also bud quality. What’s important is that it’s pushing par to the space. It has a fairly balanced spectrum which will make it great for veg or flower. It’s also easy and cheap to add more red if you want.

    • @Justintime2grow
      @Justintime2grow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My opinion on that is that isn't even in the same ballpark, way off base. The couple IR diodes they toss on these mid range lights is NOTHING. Same with UV, it's literally just to say they have it. Not a significant amount of effect. The spectrum doesn't matter as much as the intensity.
      Also unless you grew the exact same strain from clone in the exact same environment you got no real data.

    Thank you. Thoughtful! Fxxk the haters. Important thing about the truth is that its the truth...NOT where it comes from. Data is Data.
    Would have liked corner measurements. Maybe a temp measurement on the floor. I'm always worried about powerful lights being forced away from the canopy over temperature concerns thus lowering avaialble light ratings. Pointless to be overpowered. Curious where the balance is.
    I'd like to know how many BTUs LEDS of various wattages put out. Is it the same old formula as old mh and hps?
    Would really like to see you do a comparison against the HLG 600 r spec. The on sale price makes it attractive. Can you detach the hlg ballast?
    Does length of wire lower wattage?
    Also, I used to flip flop the old ballasts.... 2 "light sites" for every 1 ballast. Can I do this with LEDs? If so I need a company that will sell components separately. I heard hlg has diy. True?
    Thanks for video

    • @Justintime2grow
      @Justintime2grow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Corners will be lacking some for sure but I don't think it matters on the grand scheme. People focus on getting max numbers all over the canopy, on paper. In actual practice the plants are a little more forgiving. I doubt anyone would be disappointed in a 5x5 grow with this light. I definitely could have taken a corner reading to prove it but I figure showing 500 at each side pretty much explains it. I never said it was a 5x5 killer just that it would work.
      I don't do BTU calculations to approximate cooling but since high end LED can be 30-40% more efficient in a 4x4-5x5 space you would need less cooling. HLG has a nice calculator on their website for that. I go off my wifi sensors and adjust accordingly because my intake air from outside is always changing temp/humidity.
      I reviewed the 650 diablo that's as close as I have. The ballasts are attached, you would need to add cord to detach. HLG has diy kits as do many companies you can run multiple LED boards off one driver as long as you do all the math right and get a large enough driver.

    • @markredron1579
      @markredron1579 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for reply but I mean one driver running 24 hours.... Hooked up to two seperate led light boards... in different rooms...running 12 hours each... on opposite schedule. Half as many drivers. No hydro cycle pattern... no spike (for old ballasts). I realized how stupid it was one day to have equipment...at least ballasts.. only working for me half the time and doing nothing the rest. Had I gone even bigger I would have considered moving lights from one area into a mirrored arrangement in another. Engineering required. Anyway if it is possible to flip flop drivers for less like I did with the old magnetic ballasts I would like to. I was told spider farmer will not sell components separately

      @@Justintime2grow because it's missing important parts of the light spectrum and it's insufficient for a 5x5 gorilla tent.

      @@colevetter8970 Interesting. You mean UV? UV tends to be best done as supplemental. Even companies that include them in the fixtures rarely put enough in to make a difference. Plus UV diodes tend to burn out faster so you don't want them in your main fixture really. Just get a UV bar like what they have for the HLG 650. IR is also best done as supplemental for the same reasons.
      As for it covering a 5x5 I show in this video that it's going to be lacking some on 2 sides but is not terrible. That being said their new SE7000 tested with a much more even spread.

    I really like the lie, but that warranty isn’t very appealing. If they really stood behind their product, they would up it to at least three years all parts and shipping, like they had confidence in their products. I’m going to steer away from this one just because the warranty sucks. They’re plenty other companies out there that are competitive with five year warranties. What gets me, the companies that send you those really cheap plastic ratchet hangers and expect it to hold that heavy light up in the tent and if it happens to break your screwed. No, I’m not gonna buy this light just based on its warranty and how they cut corners. Who knows where else they cut some corners.

      This light sucks anyway compared to what's out now. Check out my latest reviews, this one is a few years old.
      This warranty is pretty standard for "cheaper" LEDs. You CAN find companies that have full 5 year warranties but they're also more expensive. Go figure.
