It is a great small town there are lots of places to eat and relax there is also the Erie Canal to walk. It is a peaceful little town with a lot of history.
There's a spot where many people park, just down a bit farther, if you go, stop at Royal Cafe, it's a gelato place! We miss our bridge too, sorry in advance if any of you have to deal with that awful detour!
Good video, as a local (not really local, but close enough) it’s a good tour. I’m just worried it’s going to be too overpopulated of a spot. With teenagers chilling with their friends, and the railfan trying to get some good shots, it can be quite full. And even though the railroad community is very polite, I don’t normally socialize with anyone. That’s my only worry, but fairport is a cool town. The only thing that platform is missing is a live railroad signal under the Turk hill bridge, completely unethical for CSX, but it would look cool. Nice video.
Thank you for the comment and I do agree with you. I have been going to Fairport to watch trains for quite awhile (before we parked on the other side of the crossing in the gravel lot). I have been there and usually it gets filled with the railfans atleast when I have been there on the weekends. I do see what you are saying and do agree as unfortunate as it is.
@@rustyrailspikeproductions yeah I normally cycle on the trail near there occasionally, I always stop in fairport. I love the use of the scanner though.
I believe lighting is now installed. Strong lights that light up the tracks. Also the canal is very close by. The bridge over the canal (lift bridge) is being rebuilt so its closed along with the street that goes to mainstreet. I believe it reopens this year 2021.
I really hope that bridge reopens soon, I thought I remember seeing somewhere that it was planned to finish in 2021 after Covid hit. I really hope to make it back see those light for myself since I am too cheap to get a low light lens for my camera.
I have no control of the live stream of the platform that is Virtual Railfans camera. I did just look it up and it looks like the East cam is up and streaming.
