As an 80 year old rail enthusiast who doesn't get out much at this time of year your lad and your videos brighten my day. Keep up the excellent work, thanks.
After a whole summer of trainspotting in the light, it does feel good to do it in the dark, as long as the weather stays calm and warm like it has been recently 🙂
Great video as always! If you want to see a lot of locomotives or anything like that then the best place is Crewe or Stafford or Tamworth along the WCML! You don’t really see hst around here so it’s definitely a surprise seeing it in this video
Yeah, it was great seeing the HST pass. We think there are a few special trains coming to our neck of the woods this weekend. Crewe sounds like an interesting place to visit 🙂
Tommy's football practice is 10-11 tomorrow 😢 thankfully, the pitch is right next to the track so we'll get to see it still. We love Acklington Station. Great choice ☺️
I am sure you will get more used to the new microphones but the good thing is they make Tommy's comments easier to hear which increases the happiness that I get from the videos
We may use the microphones at Morpeth when the trains go past slower. At Cramlington, the sound isn't great with them on . Thanks you for the feedback, I'll talk to Tommy about trying them again
@m6hou320 we still want to get the noise of the train going past though. I'm not sure there's a way to get Tommy's voice at a good volume whilst it not sound like the world is ending when a train zooms past
Hi, does your mic have what is called a Dead Cat: a furry absorber of wind noise? I remember once seeing a picture of a mic for a phone with a dead cat. Best of luck.
If I was travelling on one of those Northern trains that didn't acknowledge Tommy I'd have no choice but to pull the emergency cord and demand the driver gave a full horn and wave to Tommy. It's just not on disrespecting Tommy like that!! 👋👋👋 📯📯📯
The mic worked nicely for individual speech ( the intro ) but the problem seemed to come when integrating it with the info from your camera mic ( the sound of the passing trains plus your voice ). Did it rub against Tommy's jacket, in particular, the zip? The Slateford Depot to Newcastle set may well have had a dislodged brake unit on its offside - in which case I hope that got picked up as it would affect the overall braking efficiency. In the second part the camera certainly picked up the voices of the ( almost ) invisible lads sharing your platform vigil. Visually it also really picks out both the front and rear high-intensity lights as it gets dark. The filament lamps let alone the old rear oil lamps of my younger years would not have shown up that much and in foggy conditions became dangerously dimmed to effective invisibility.
Yeah, it worked well for the intro but I think the intro was ok as it was. I think I probably need to spend more money on better microphones. I was hoping cheap ones from Amazon would do the trick but maybe not. Tommy wasn't entirely comfortable wearing it as well. The last thing I want to do is spoil his enjoyment as, other than safety, him enjoying it is the most important thing. I'll try again with moving the mike around and playing with the settings if Tommy is ok with it. I didn't notice that about the train. I'll have to watch again. Thanks again for watching and your comments. We really appreciate it 😊
@@TommysTrainsandPlanes Depends what kinda device you are recording videos on but I use a COMICA CVM-WS50H Multi-Channels Smartphone Wireless Microphone with Hand-held TX
@AcePCFiling we use a Google Pixel phone. I'm not sure Tommy would be comfortable using a hand held device. It looks decent though, thanks for the suggestion 🙂
The phone is a Google Pixel 7 and the microphone is a cheap one from Amazon. I should have known better and spent more money on a better one. I'm reluctant to when I know so little about it though

Thank you so much. We love that people get enjoyment out of us having fun 😊

Thank you
Some special trains coming on Friday and Saturday. Will you see them?
@@TommysTrainsandPlanes do you mean at the station or watch your inevitable video on them?
@SNWfooty at the station.
We're going to try and video them if we can
@SNWfooty sorry, I just read your comment again properly. You meant on our video. Silly me 🤣
@@TommysTrainsandPlanes thats alright 😂 obviously going to watch the video if it comes. cheers
0:49 the train sounded like it crashed
Yeah, we haven't mastered the new microphone yet 😢
Gotta love doing night time shots 😌

Thanks for mentioning me Tommy!
No problems, we enjoyed your company last night ☺️
@ thanks!
Are you catching the 57314 and 57313 tommorow hull to edinburgh im going to catch it at acklington station ??

Hi. Try the noise reduction on the mic's

@brucewilliams8714 yeah it does but I don't think it's good quality. I'll see if I can get Tommy to try again next time we're out
Need to get Tommy a little hi vis
I think the railway are a bit dodgy about non staff members wearing hi Viz clothing
@TommysTrainsandPlanes true

We're sure most of the drivers do if it's safe to do so, The Northern drivers are a canny bunch 🙂
Thanks for watching and commenting 😊

Yeah this mic don't work with fast trains
Any ideas or suggestions of one that might be better? We're novices when it comes to this 😂

Sorry to say that mic is horrible
Yeah, unfortunately, I agree 😢
Very dodgy like haha
Mic
Yeah, we need to either keep persevering with it, or maybe take advice on a better, more suited mic
