My sister has psoriasis since childhood, bad cases, dandruff shampoo is also good to wash body and scalp psoriasis Suds up let sit for a mint and shower off. It helps the scales, itch and redness. Zinc pyrithione very effective.
When I went to see a Dermatologist at Kaiser for acne that I had for years and wasn't going away she literally told me I had Fungal Acne. Oral Antibiotics and Topical Retinol fixed it.
Hi Dr. dray....while I do generally agree with what you're saying, there are certain ingredients like oils that trigger my FA. I initially took your advice to switch a more lightweight moisturizer. When I did, the bumps remained the same or got worse. I then switched to an oil free moisturizer and found that they disappeared. I have before and after pics if you want.
It most likely is because the yeast, as she lists on the end, loves an oily environment. I had a fungal acne reaction from applying rosehip oil 😅 which one of my coworkers suggested I use. I'd avoid anything containing oils in general if you are acne prone or your pores clog easily
@joshlynch3038 I’m sorry you had to suffer through this including getting worse as you tried different products to help yourself get better. Sounds very frustrating. However, I’m so happy for you that you found a product or better yet found out if you omit certain ingredients FA disappeared. That’s really great! I have no skin sensitivity or concerns & if I did especially if it was my face I’d be the most miserable person ever. I am only 4ft 10” & that’s a lifelong challenge in many ways. Guess we all have our own challenges. Anyway I hope this is your final answer that lasts forever! You deserve it!
I can personally attest that any skincare that contains non-essential oils other than MCT oil snd petrolatum does trigger my Malassezia flares. I have learned so much from Dr Dray and she even has a few videos that recommend fungal acne safe products so there must have been one point in her YT journey where she also believed that Malassezia gets triggered by certain ingredients, otherwise she wouldn't have created these FA safe suggestion videos. I don't really know what the message in these short videos really is anymore, as it looks like there is a trend to debunk myths but with this one I'm really not convinced it needs "debunking" here.
The first thing on the list she said that tcan create a hospital environment for malesezzia is oil and humidity she said. Not sure why you're saying you disagree with her
The problem is that in reality, any non-essential oil or butter that I apply on my skin does trigger these Malassezia flares. There are several studies that show Malassezia feeds on oils, butters, esters and other triggering ingredients. So the yeast does in fact react to certain ingredients. Of course that moisture content on the skin matters. When thousands of people share their anecdotal experiences in groups specifically created for this nasty condition, you can see that there are clearly links to these triggering ingredients.
Thank you!! It’s these self proclaimed skincare experts who call it that! They have zero credibility zero formal education and no license! They do get a crap ton followers tho! People really are like sheep! They’ll believe the wrong people! I’m so glad you’re out there educating us all with the truth! I worked hard for my Esthetician license! I appreciate Doctors like you! 😊
She's absolutely CORRECT about Nizoral! Great for itchy skin/dermatitis/etc.
Sulfur also helped a ton!
What sulfur product do you use?
Excited to be here this evening Dr Dray . Thanks for addressing this important subject have a good night.

Dr Dray has educated us so much and I'm grateful for it!❤
Thank you Dr. Dray. Does Nizoral works for dry scalp too?

I just started minodxil and this shampoo was recommended to help with dandruff and hair growth!😅
Is zinc purithione antifungal?
Is this the same yeast that makes the skin around ur nose peel?
This stuff works!
I had a horrible allergic rxn using that shampoo 😢. My eyes were about swollen shut and it burned so bad.

The first things that she listed were oil and humidity. What is the confusion here?

TYSM!!!❤🎉 I can't even say that word.😂😂
What is the anti-fungal ingredient that’s mentioned. Don’t have that schampoo here.
Ketoconazole
So steroids INCREASE makessezia????! What?! Im so confused now and have to watch again.
Beware, Nizoral can make your hair fall out.
? Source? Many derms say the opposite as ketoconozole (the active ingredient in nizoral) t reduces inflammation
Is Coconut oil good for scalp and anti fungal treatment? @drdrayzday
No MCT oil is better bc it doesn’t have a the fungal causing ingredient. Check out Simple Skincare Science blog
Yes it is
no dont use any oil
I just been to the doctors for this problem i got this shampoo and he said no oils at all
