To paint the plastic banners, scratch them up with a wire brush to add more texture and then spray with Krylon fusion. Should give a good surface to paint.

I felt the same way until I sat down to batch paint 20 necron warriors, and with 30 min time on average for each they almost looked as good as the leaders that I spent hours and hours on. If you have your colour scheme and you like it, having a whole unit completed is such a rewarding feeling

I know very little about 40k, but there's something so entrancing about how this series resonates. I feel less like an observer and more like I'm discovering and going on the journey as well. Well done.
And, when that army's on the march, this is the only chorus I keep hearing in head:
    🎵
Nasty Nasty boys, don't mean a thing, huh
    Oh you nasty boys
Nasty Nasty boys, don't ever change, huh
    Oh you nasty boys
NastyNasty boys, give me your nasty groove, huh
    Oh you nasty boys
Nasty Nasty boys, let me see your nasty body move, huh
    Oh you nasty boys
    🎵

The tight rope poles are my favorite. No, the little dude on the tight rope is my favorite. No, the Giant's cracklely skin is my favorite. No, the antlers on the banner poll are my favorite. No, the dude who looks like his tummy is a bum is my favorite.....

Trent, you're really on to something here. Your attention to detail has me glued to your videos like a fly to a bright light. The banner flag is a brilliant idea, the little guy balancing on the banner wire on one foot is great, you totally sold the illusion of a hefty monstrosity by pushing his foot down in the clay... I could go on and on. Well done... I want more!

I love the clear plastic for the banners. That and the tightrope are both brilliant.

  • @Virakotxa
    @Virakotxa 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Suggestion for another time... For the banners: Try the metal foil that comes around the neck of wine bottles. You can shape the folds to be like very realistic (static) cloth, but on top, you can tear, poke holes and distress it with no effort and great look! I also apply Typhus Corrosion (textured paint) to it before painting it, and looks perfect, so you got that down!
Got the feeling that your option is more sturdy, but being able to still shape and adjust the "dynamics" even after painted it's another advantage... You can make it fold against the pole, or make it flap on a different angle of it looks better.
Anyways! Loving this project of yours!

This Nurgle army is outstanding. The minis hark back to 90s GW art for nurgle in a lot of ways. The almost random assortment of limbs and textures in an almost comedic collection of parts. GW could definitely take some inspiration from this if they update the official Nurgle daemon range.

This is the most excited I've been about Warhammer since I first walked into a Games Workshop. I spent some uncomfortable years trying to figure out how to have it sustain my interest - I liked telling stories but didn't want them prescribed to me in novels, I liked playing games but wasn't really competitive and didn't have much money for big armies etc., I liked painting when I came out alright but I was following limited pre-TH-cam resources to inform how I 'ought' to be doing things, I loved making terrain and dioramas but limited floorspace in a teenage bedroom under your parents' roof meant the little bits of scatter I did make went under the bed to die in dust and neglect! Now I'm all grown up I'm really into making my own models from super sculpey and telling my own stories (tangential to a puzzle series I make) and find that scratches a lot of the same itches. I recently started making moulds of some smaller models too and seeing your process with the toad, the joy of having the thing you just slaved over instantly duplicated (but always slightly distinct from the others in some particular way that gives it subtle character etc.) really hit home. But this army... the sheer abandon, the unbelievably unique models coming out of this experiment and the stories they tell already, pre-paint job, just by standing on the table. I don't do a lot of TH-cam commenting because it feels like shouting into a vacuum sometimes but I had to let you know the suspense I have seeing what you'll do with this gnarly bunch of Ahh! Real Monsters-meets-Brian Fraud-meets-Abandoned Tom Waits album bunch of freaks is... it's palpable my friend. God speed you in this evil operation!

You could try to make your own posters digitally (Paint, Photoshop, Clip Studio, etc). Print the posters on vinyl sticker sheets. Then apply to the applicable surface; such as polystyrene sheets cut to size; paper; whatever.

Movement would be difficult for that toad-sorcerer, what with frogs and such not having the smoothest of gaits. Perhaps experiment with a spike through the mount's head to provide purchase for the rider? If you do you'll probably want visible barbs, or have it be a broken off spear.

So weirdly enough my boss and I bond over model making. He makes full scale and accurate ships, and thinking of your poster worries something he taught me might come in handy.
He prints full colour flags on just normal thin cloth through a normal printer. Model sailcloth works too, or thick tissue paper. You tape it to a normal piece of paper and run it through, then cut it out with an xacto.
he sets them with pva glue and a hairdryer to get a billowing look. You could print your posters and have proper flags!
