@THE BEDROOM BEATMAKER
“Good artists borrow, great artists steal.”
“The quote in this form was a favorite of Steve Jobs but he but he was probably (mis)quoting Pablo Picasso who said “Lesser artists borrow; great artists steal” - who in turn might be rephrasing Igor Stravinsky, but both sayings may well originate in T. S. Eliot’s dictum: “Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal; bad poets deface what they take, and good poets make it into something better, or at least something different. The good poet welds his theft into a whole of feeling which is unique, utterly different than that from which it is torn.” - The origins of this quote itself is an example of great artists stealing.”
THIS IS TRUE. WONDERFUL COMMENT
@THE BEDROOM BEATMAKER Van continues to make all of Sachs’s videos from Ten Bullets, to Colors, to Plywood, How to Sweep, a Space Program, How To Surf, etc... They were working on one called Ritual that was supposed to be out last year but I haven’t heard it being released. Van and Tom are a great partnership.
I highly disagree
@@bmxshow 10 Bullets was directed by Van.
This is TH-cam at its potential. Art instead of vanity.
Well said, well said, extremely WELL SAID!
There is definitely vanity,
or else he wouldnt post it.
But he earned that pass, well earned
This is TH-cam when vid length was limited to 10min max.
This is a video about himself. Pure vanity
Could say this point any better. 100%
This video fixes me.
Van might actually fix TH-cam itself
Casey was right, this is something we've never seen before.
We’re on a journey. Lead by Van. To god knows where.
Let’s go.
Watch Tom Sachs videos made by them. I think Tom Sachs have a huge influence in their way to make videos.
@@kevinparedes1124 yup lol.
This is exactly what we’ve seen before from Mr Casey himself, but in a less people friendly form.
@@Iskandarko I wouldn't say exactly, it has a very different feel to it, and a distinct style. While there are similarities to what Casey does, it is truly unique.
I'm beginning to think that Casey is actually in fact the poor man's Van
Casey asked Candice who the most talented Neistat is in his most recent video and she said "Van"
I think there’s a lot of Van in Casey
@@nicoibarra1008 And tons of Tom Sachs in them both.
Candice did say Van was the more talented Neistat. The interesting part is how they are similar in ways and completely opposite in other ways. This is like Casey with patience.
Don't like Van's vibe, too serious.
Van Neistat is like the Wes Anderson of TH-cam. The style is just in its own realm. Love it.
Yes! That’s it. Thank you for that. I’ve been wracking my brain trying to work it out.
Genius. Casey was right. Van clearly doesn't watch TH-cam. This is too good and too original. And no one smashes the like button in it. Bravo!
Casey was right. He hasn't been corrupted by the internet and social media. This is raw art concealed in truth and devoid of glamour.
True ❤️
he isn’t called “the spirited man” for nothing!
So true
This is the guy who taught everything Casey Neistat knows
Or at least, helped to bring it out of Casey.
Bodhisattva man!
casey took tom sachs' schtick and popularised it
*who taught Casey everything
You guys are wrong.. Casey an Van learned everythinh from TOM SACHS. they both have been worked for tom sachs.. . Search his channel on youtube..
Please don't ever spoil yourself by watching any TH-cam content but yours; keep the spirited man as pure and refreshing as he already is.
Didn’t realize we all needed a Casey Neistat Deluxe, but here we all are.
i can sleep to this man's voice knowing that everything will be alright
Quit kissing ass
Quit kissing ass
Mate kissing ass is different
omgg just relateble
Hence the name "the spirited man"!
Now everyone knows how Casey become who he is
I dont really get why don't they mention Tom Sach as much, since he took 'em boys to the studio and taught them this raw style of writing and organizing that is omni-present in the neistat brothers universe.
I see so much of my brother in you. My brother struggled with alcohol and drugs.. he recently got out of rehab and he's starting to draw again, write comedy again and be himself again. I plan on sharing this and many more with him. Thank you for joining TH-cam. I've missed you
Van's storytelling is almost similar to Wes Anderson's style of filmmaking and I love it. I loved every minute of it.
Van is just a calm Casey.
LOL is true!
Have you seen the axe though? 👀
Sooooooo true.
Haha the accuracy
"He could fix the bong hit station."

I love how incredibly different your style is from your brother, and yet both are so unique and profound in their own ways.
This is actual art that's posted on TH-cam. Rare to come-by.
Not at all rare, tbh. YT is packed full of gold, you just have to dig through the shit to get to it.
@@MarioAtheonio you got any reccos?
There’s something in his aesthetic that reminds me of browsing architecture books published through 70s-80s
I have a similar feeling about this work, it's very tactile and crude yet beautiful in its simplicity. I enjoy the fact he uses a typewriter instead of aa computer, it is direct and mechanical, because as the spirited man said, "computers are my curse".
@@mobeenzaffar4434 His typewriter is a "Corona"! Enjoy...
This *chefs kiss* 👌

I LOVE how you can see clearly where so much of Casey's inspiration came from. Love the videos Van :) Both reminiscent of Casey's work and discreetly unique.

That dishwasher door tho...😳

@@views8962 it looks nice. Form followed it after all.
best dishwasher door ever you say?
Jesus Christ. This so so good. This is what we need on YT. Seems like a Netflix doc series. Love it
Probably will check out their series on HBO
This is therapy
Hahah
@Jake Braiding-Watson why so mad?
Thank God you decided to come out of your shell to share your talent with the world. This is your calling 100%
Holy shit, this is almost a continuation of the Neistat Brothers. Someday we will get another full show with both of them
Soon on “unintentional ASMR”: Van Neistat
Yes!
Longest and shortest 10 minutes I’ve ever experienced
Felt my spirit
Now I can say Casey is the second most talented Neistat !
No adds,No plugs ,no sponsors... Just art!
A breath of fresh air.
People gotta eat 🤷🏻♂️
This is a spirited man of true talent.
This indeed Is a spirited man
@@Toby-tz6fh and indeed of true talent, too
the spirited man is fixing people's hearts and minds with his content
So so very true!
This is not like Casey’s vlogs, it is much more like the “Neistat Brothers”, it is like watching the season 2 that never happened
The way the first "Repair Man" hit me is indescribable and delightful. I know he doesn't read his comments on TH-cam, but I figured I'd put out into the world that I felt so *seen* by this and see if anyone else feels as strongly.
If TH-cam ever got a do-over, this would be where it began. Wonderful.
I love this
I love you more 💋
Nice to see you her Gwax. I also love your Videos. I think the second Channel will be awsame😉👍
No no. I LOVE THIS
Much respect man im trying to do an art channel and it aint easy
me too !!
Never did I think adding a dumbbell to a dishwasher would be this inspiring.
I can see the same school of filmography; I can see where Casey learn his visual methods. I love it, and I'm no a hardcore fan and never saw their HBO series, but now I want to.
wow this dude is seriously freaken talented. Casey must be so proud of his big brother, i know i would. This is like watching a short film every episode. I especially love that he's filming on an older iPhone, goes to show you don't need the latest stuff to tell a good story, almost as if this particular spirited man will go out of his way to do so.
This is soothing to my brain
That it is. An absolute breath of fresh air. Invigorating to ones soul.
The video flows lika a thick liquid
Its magical, the genius of van mixed with a Casey storylike vibe is youtube gold. This video and channel should get millions of views eventually!
Never thought I'd see such a collision of practical repair tips with such a film-schoolesque artistic vision. Yet here we are...
Wow! One thousand percent, yes, please and thank you Van!
The spirited man sounds like a Hipster’s craft beer.
I can’t agree more
Hysterical, and so fricking true.
I'll be surprised if there aren't 15 by tomorrow... disappointed in the internet even.
He really does
He's the best type of hipster.
I feel guilty that this high level film is free. The quality of storytelling and filmaking is superior to anything youtube filmaking community has made in a looong time.
That is not TH-cam quality, that is art
Pure talent, make people enjoy because of the creation, and not make something the people like and want, an anti youtube video
And we love it
If you feel guilty, you can support him on Kickstarter. 😉
That's because he isn't part of the youtube community...doesn't watch youtube doesn't even do social media.
Except for maybe the videos his brother makes?
@@AndyKruseChannel casey is great...but this is beyond his skill. We can see now where Caseys influence comes from.
I feel the same way about repairs. People say I don't always fix things "the right way". I think there are limitless ways to fix things and ultimately no right or wrong way but rather a learning process. It's good to know I'm not alone on this one. Can't wait to see your next video!
Working that repair station and fixing people's stuff would make me so happy.
I remember when Casey use to say a lot of TH-camrs copied his style, but I come to realize after watching this video that Casey copied Van's style.
Live on Spirited Man ❤️
They both picked something in Tom Sachs studio I believe 🤷🏻♂️
Now we know why Casey was breaking all his gadgets every now and then. This genius spirited man was there to fix everything 😃.
ahhaaa.. hence the name Casey "monster" Neistat.. probably
:D
I can see where Casey got a lot of his aesthetic from. The sort of beautifully imperfect way you both make/fix things (see Casey's old office) and also in how you edit videos. I don't think he's exaggerating when he talks about how much he looks up to you
3:39 amazing editing
I wish i they show us how and who edits this, super job.
The fact that I forgot the video was about a dishwasher door, until reminded at the way end, just goes to show how captivating and unique the storytelling is here.
The editing, narration and story telling ability is 11/10 top notch. I cant wait to see how far you will go Van, so pure.
I have professionally repaired phone lines, motorcycles, and now automatic doors. I can speak to the gratification a service technician obtains from a good fix and the journey to figure your way there. Thank you for the spirit!
This is probably the best TH-cam channel I have unintentionally discovered.
Yeah, I can chill and relax with this type of video.

So zen for such a simple but frustrating problem.
this reminds me of when TH-cam was cool.
Wow. You’re such an incredible storyteller. How incredible for a family to get two.
It’s great to see Van making content like this. Saw their HBO series years ago.
This Spirited Man has a new favorite channel. Sorry, Casey.
This vid should have been titled: "Zen and the art of dishwasher maintenance"
Totally reminded me of the book!!
@@YuyinSports thats where he get it I supposed
A man of culture
The day I learned I'm a fixer. My daily frustration of people I work with not fixing it. I need these people or I would have nothing to fix. Life changing brilliance. Thanks you Van from a frustrated fellow fixer.
Great storytelling. The whole thing about a Fantasy job is echoing with me, at my current well paid office job, day dreaming to tear my motorcycle engine apart and fix it! Thank you Van!
Casey has given us so much... and just when it feels like he’s run out of stuff to give, he gift wraps Van and hands him over to us. ❤️
Couldn’t agree more
Ako tu sawa
The fact that the simplicity of dish washer problem bounded the storyline and repeated itself in the last makes the plot go boom boom 🤯❤️
Ikr?!
Elegance is this Spirited Man's prime virtue.
Keeping up with the NEISTATS. As a fixer I appreciate this. Thanks Van.
This is like another sweet distinct variety of a Neistat. Perfect.
Why was that just so amazing! I love the aesthetic!
Well paced story telling making a comeback on TH-cam?
The word aesthetic has no place near this video. Spirited Man is all about utility.
😉
😍😍
Casey
I love the whimsical Wes Anderson film style.
Amazing.. Thanks Van - bc of you, I “met” Casey. Now, the circle of awesomeness lands back to - You .
A breathe of fresh air for the “world of TH-cam.”
SPIRITED MAN 👨
Is a good man ....
Casey
This is pure art, please don't change, Van.
why does that last scene make me so happy, must be primal...
It’s just so calm and slow, like everyone on TH-cam is so high paced and TH-camrs are always so Loud and all up in the camera and he’s just chill and relaxed and artistic, love this guy
Reminds me of those wood or leather working videos...only with a narrative. I'm not afraid to admit...I have watched hour long leather working videos with NO dialogue...completely entranced.
Comes out of inspiration not chase for followers and money I suppose.
Zen paced storytelling making a comeback on TH-cam?
This is like evolution when a species evolves on an island untouched by the outside world. It's so unique!
*builds a specialist gate to stop accidents*
*Leaves it wide open*
He's a Neistat alright 😂😂
Absolutely glad I stopped by. My TH-cam was boring and dry. Everything looked the same...but you fixed that. Well done, Van! It’s good to see you on the internet.
The spirited man is also an inspiring man
“What a summer, what a fall” that hit so hard for some reason
You earned a sub when you said land cruiser mechanic.
Watched this several times now. It's a masterpiece.
Casey’s videos are a fast paced ultra-metropolitan city like. Van’s videos are like chilling in the countryside.
Wow. This channel is Gold! I guess the creative touch runs in the Neistat's Family
Seriously!! I can’t turn away from it!!
I think it's hard work more than a touch running through the family. Casey has often told about how Van learned him about film making, and you can clearly see simillarities in their story telling and visual style. I just think they helped each other a lot and both worked their asses off.
Or that youtubers are EXTREMELY untalented and that's sort of why they fall off after a few years of stardom. This is professional work, not 99 percent of the junk you see on here.
@@Justking82727 super glad i watched a 10 minute video about hooking a weight to a dishwasher. lol
I paused and scrolled down here, not far I realize, but wanted you to know that I am filled with the spirit. Thank you The Spirited Man.
This would be my family when I was growing up. We never replaced anything that couldn't be fixed.
Now this is what I love about Neistat brothers, the authenticity in their content, that editing & also the storyline they create over an object is so phenomenal!
This is that OG Neistat Bros. style we never knew we were missing
Very cool, refreshingly original scrappiness vibe combined in repair style and art style by Van. He's made the one & the same.
Haha I work for Miele and have faced this problem many many times
This guy is a movie-making genius.
Casey wasn't lying when he credits you for everything he has learned. Great to have you on TH-cam. 💪💪
This dishwasher scene is hilarious! I love it
Holly shit, what a story. I totally forgot about the dishwasher until he closed with it.
I don't know why, but this gave me a nostalgia vibe.
The spirited man, speaks in the third person spiritually.
Man, this is so relatable. If something doesn't work right, I have to try to fix it no mater the waste of time or unimportance. And until I finish the project it consumes my mind. Most people don't get it.
I totally forgot this all started with a unfinished dishwasher door, I got too into the repair man story from beginning to end. Wow.
