After watching the new series... I definetely LOVE THIS SERIE A LOT!!! The new version just... its dark.. and the last two episodes destroyed everything! The main story about love is gone!
Absolutely agree. This version has color. The new version does not.
There really was no good reason to remake this. It wasn't like remaking a silent film with sound or a film with "old" special effects or production values with modern ones. Or a different take like Charlie and the Chocolate factory vs Willy Wonka. Pure lack of imagination and commercial greed. The scenes I've seen from the new one lacked the acting skill and deftness of the original version.

Hulu needs to acquire this series, I want to watch the whole thing and compare to the new series.
The FX series definitely lacks the charm and warmth of scenes like this one.
The relationship between Mariko and Blackthorne was completely nuked in it, to the point where John asking her if she'd live for him made little sense.

I recently finished the FX series. Storywise this was a lot better than the FX series, but visually the FX remake is better visually. If I had to choose between the two I'd chose the original 1980's version. This had a lot more warmth and wide storytelling compared to the remake. I honestly enjoyed this more than the remake.
