Do any of you have a DW subscription and watch their kids' service, Bentkey? What are your thoughts? Currently, my youngest is hooked on Tish Tash. Their Bluey knock off might not be great, but there are some good shows on there.
I got daily wire+ so I could watch Candace's documentary about Steven Avery. I canceled it when Ben and Jeremy decided another country's priorities will ALWAYS top this country's
I think bentkey is pretty great. Overall I like all of the content, and while a lot of people hate chipchilla for some reason, I think it's pretty good. Their captain carrot show is good, and they're pretty good about producing content. The best part is definitely that I can just let it play without worrying what show will come on next though.
Greg, I usually like your takes, but I've been a big Matt Walsh listener for several years, and his brand of content takes some getting used to. He uses a lot hyperbole to make the show more entertaining, which it definitely does. He also uses a lot of really dry humor, which can make it hard to know if he's serious if you don't watch the show often. He also has some running gags that he uses on the show to see how mad he can make media matters. The take about men never crying is one of them. Again, though, those kinds of things are for regular listeners, and it's harder to distinguish that if you aren't a regular listener.
I can't on conscience, because I think Ben is a snake. I have not forgotten all that I read on WND almost 20 years ago, when he was only legally not calling for America to glass Iran and draft all fighting age Christians to do it. He, meanwhile, was preoccupied going to law school and hanging out with defense contractors and pundits to do anything himself.
@@desnatisremember that Shapiro scooped up a ton of ex Disney animators that felt frustrated on the current state of the company and do the results pay off?
Lewis was a strong advocate of changing the attitude of his time regarding children's literature. They regarded it the same way we, in the west, think of animation as kid stuff instead of how, say, Japan considers and uses anime. (And I mean this in a general sense of 'the west' - I'm an anime fan and I _hate_ this attitude.) And he was absolutely right. Unfortunately, a lot of other nefarious types (wokes and their ilk) already understand that children's media and education are the most effective way to change the people and their beliefs: just look at the results on any modern college campus. By contrast, read any of the original Grimm's Tales or Aesop's Fables. The lessons are universal, and were an excellent means of helping children (and adult children) grow some thicker skins and exercise their moral centers.
I mean you can have an opinion on anything you want. I think the issue is when you're forming an opinion on a very narrow worldview and then telling everyone else they should have that same narrow worldview.
When I graduated magna cum laude, my father teared up because it was an honor he'd never got close to recieving. He gave me a hug, kissed me on the top of my head, and told me he was so proud of me. My first thoughts were not "Ew, my Dad is weak because he's crying," they were "My Dad is so proud of me he can bairly contain himself," If you were to call a father weak for expressing his joy at his son's success in front of him, then there is something seriously wrong with you
Why do you guys always choose the least likely scenario where someone would get accused of being weak? How come you never talk about a guy who breaks down crying because he asked someone out and got rejected? You should be able to argue why that's not weak, right?
@AGW99-df3yg I'm just using my own experience to get the point across, and a father getting emotional at his childs success is quite a common thing to happen. It's not dishonest.
@@barnowl2655 You're still being dishonest. I'm talking about the part where you say you DIDN'T think "Ew, my Dad is weak because he's crying," You DIDN'T think that. So that's not part of your experience. That's added commentary, and it misrepresents what what you're criticizing. Also: "If you were to call a father weak for expressing his joy at his son's success in front of him," Again, calling a father weak for that wasn't part of your experience.
That is a good message to tell kids that parents give up dreams to have a family. When I was a kid, I was SHOCKED when I found out my parents had plans at one point. It literally changed my life knowing they loved me enough to give up something they wanted all their life to become my parents.
It is a trade-off, as are all things. I can go do the thing that seems exciting, but I'll lose what I have now. Is my dream job or bucket list worth what it costs the ones I love? It may not be.

It made me feel happy when you said that you don't need to have an opinion over everything. I'm kind of a hermit when it comes to current events, so it was relieving to hear that you should educate yourself on a topic first before you form an opinion.
Maybe it’s a getting older thing, but I just don’t care about as many things as I used to. That can obviously go too far, but it’s honestly a relief to not have to engage in every culture battle.
@GodOfPlague -- You have no idea how much that clear, concise bit of wisdom has helped me out with an issue I've been trying to sort out for a while now. I know it wasn't addressed to me, but thank you for saying it, all the same.
@@gregowen2022 To quote Terrible Writing Advice, this is what would happen next: "Then he seized his chest, his pain flowing readily And then dropped dead of cardiomegaly"
Matt Walsh gives me huge Poe vibes. It's like he knows what a conservative _generally_ looks like in society's eye, and he plays into that stereotype on purpose. It's the "reclaiming the n-word" of conservatism, and is about as cringe as _that_ phenomenon should be. Walsh's deadpan delivery particularly frustrates my autism to no end because he says everything with the same tone that a sarcastic person would use. Rush Limbaugh bugged me for _years_ for this very reason. But then Obama became president and it was like America's doom started to become more of a "when" question than an "if", and Rush seemed to shift his demeanor to something more fittingly genuine for my tastes.
What's the difference between chicken nuggets and chicken tenders? Size and branding. You didn't grow out of chicken nuggets. You just got bigger and hungrier.
I think you nailed him when you said he has to have a strong opinion on everything. If there was something he doesn't care about he'd then spend ten minutes telling you about why he's correct not caring about it.
Yeah, I don't "get" public figures like that. If something trending doesn't interest me, I just say it doesn't interest me (if asked) and talk about something else instead.
I actually had no idea until I googled it that Matt Walsh is 37 years old. I’m 36, but the guy comes across like he’s an old man screaming at the clouds a lot of the time. I agree with a lot of his stances, but for every stance he has that I agree with , he has something like “real men don’t play video games”. Come on man, I served in the United States Marine Corps, and I’m not going to take someone seriously that says I’m not a man because I have a hobby.
I agree with Matt on that some adults are obsessed with childish things and refuse to grow up. I'm a big nerd myself, so i don't have a problem with adults watching cartoons or collecting toys or whatever. But it's when an interest becomes an obsession that it becomes a problem.
That character wasn't actually talking about his "mums" - he was using an Australian turn-of-phrase that just did not translate well. Matt Walsh's rant was actually talked about quite a bit in our media as a lot of people were just dumbfounded by it. We have never had a TV show from our country be hugely successful overseas before. And I imagine for a lot of people around the world, this may be the first Australian television show they have watched. People are very protective of it. Thanks for standing up for Bluey mate!
"Mums" was why he lost his marbles? Does this man not ask any questions or learn about what he's talking about first? Mum/Mums is one of THE primary affectionate nicknames for Mothers in Queen's English or any of its offshoot dialects...
There’s an episode where the kids are playing how Bandit and chilli met. Bingo is pretending to be mum, and Bluey is pretending to be dad. They blow up a balloon and put it up Bingos top (pretending to be pregnant with bluey) and they are plying around, and suddenly the balloon pops, shocking everyone. Camera goes to chilli, who has a shocked sad face, and Bandit unconsciously instantly puts his hand on Chilli’s hand. It’s like a 15 second exchange but it tells you volumes. This show was as much made for parents as it was kids.
Chuckles doesn't understand much. He's only 2 years older than me yet he reminds me of old boomers who used to have a problem with me playing videogames when I was a kid.
Matt Walsh is a KillJoy since he makes fun of people who have hobbies who like Anime and Videogames I hate his takes over this. The Bluey thing is dumb it is fine to be emotional over a show like the Bluey The Sign was such a good episode.
I got emotional over the ending of Toy Story 3. Heck, I got emotional over a video game's in-game cartoon combined by a cover of You're The Inspiration. It's NORMAL.
Can anybody else appreciate the deep sadness of Matt Walsh admitting on camera that he cannot emotionally connect with his wife on the same level to the extent that he disparages her emotional reactions?
Even if Matt Walsh had watched the entire cartoon you are making an assumption that he still wouldn’t find it dumb. Matt Walsh is simply not interested and he personally cannot believe adults are fawning over this cartoon
Maybe he would find it dumb if he watched the whole thing. Point is, he's contriving a real hard opinion about something he didn't watch. He's just shitting on whatever is popular to get clicks. He's a doofus
@@stonetheforbidden It's the Ann Coulter school of "Oops, did I say something controversial...again...this week?" to get attention. Matt's approach is slightly different, "Here, look at me. I'm saying something controversial this week, again." I can't fault him in a way. Online political commentary feeds into that tactic very well.
I don’t think Greg said he thought Matt Walsh would like Bluey. Personally I’m sure he wouldn’t like Bluey. It’s more the idea that Matt Walsh would angrily denounce something he’s never even seen based on a few tweets that is hilariously dumb. If he had even tried it out and then decided he didn’t like it (like Greg did with Netflix’s Avater remake) then he would at least have an iota of context with which to form his opinion. It’s not about Matt liking the show, just the authority he gives himself to mock anyone who does based on…nothing?
As an adopted child myself, I love the fact that you would stand up for your daughter that way. Kudos to you Greg! You're one of the few level headed TH-camrs I love to just put on to chill.
Normally, I would rant and rave about how much I hate the “cartoons are for kids” stigma. I think that mindset has a bad effect on children’s animation, an even worse effect on adult animation, and is flat out ignorant to the history of the medium. But to say “adults can’t enjoy kids’ cartoons” is equally ignorant. Don’t get me wrong. There are plenty of dumb children’s shows churned by hack executives who think kids are stupid and they’ll watch anything, but to say all kids’ cartoons are like that is completely disingenuous. Just because something is made for children doesn’t mean it can’t be entertaining or have substance. They can transport us to fantastical worlds, make us feel deep emotions, teach us valuable lessons. I keep coming back to Pixar movies especially because I love digging for the hidden mature themes I didn’t notice as a kid. But even when cartoons aren’t meant to be deep, there’s nothing with throwing on an episode of SpongeBob or Animaniacs or Dexter’s Lab just because you want to laugh and have a good time. Those shows put genuine care and effort into their writing, which is why we keep coming back to them decades later. So when I hear Matt Walsh saying “adults shouldn’t be watching kids’ cartoons”, it’s like he’s saying that they shouldn’t have substance, that we *should* treat kids like they’re stupid and keep feeding them soulless nonsense. When the next generation is raised on mindless crap like Cocomelon and you wonder why “kids today are so stupid”, you will have no one to blame but yourself.
You hit the nail right on the head, my man. That's why I also worry for the next generation as well. Kids need something more. Movies have the power to relate to adults, but especially to kids, as well through messages, themes, characters, and storytelling that are the fundamental aspects of films, including animation. Kids have the ability to feel emotions of these characters, in which animation is a format that kids can be invested in while also learning about the world around them. That's why most movies from my generation (From the 80s to the 2010s to some extent as my example), taught Kids all sorts of lessons as animation evolved through those decades. And with TH-cam Kids and these new shows being filled with dumbed down entertainment, with deeper themes being seen by others as inappropriate and very sensitive scares the ever living shit out of me for the upcoming generation. I swear I feel like society is turning into Farinheight 451. Good lord...
It's like a perpetual debater's syndrome, where you have to not only have a strong opinion on every single topic but you also have to be right on every single topic. Now, I've listened to a fair number of Matt's videos, and I agree with the message of what he says more often than not. But it's always the presentation that I disagree with. There's often a lack of charity in his messaging, where he will state things with the utmost certainty, and I've seen it with a number of TH-camrs who actively participate in the "culture war." So it's always refreshing when I find a well reasoning and moderate take on an issue where one doesn't have to take such a hard line stance (while still standing firm to one's morals).
Completely agree. I understand that his show needs to be entertaining, so he plays this character, but strangely I find his constant hardline stances to be boring.
I see it the same way. It’s as if the requirement to put out a daily episode and to create attention grabbing sound bites cause him (and pretty much everyone who works with the same schedule) to cause significant amounts of contention and harm alongside the intended message. What I like most about Greg is that he seems to mostly avoid the negatives that we see with the others.
I've said this when you posted abour Matt in the community tab, but its a great illustration of why Matr misses the point. Shady Durags made a video about the Justice League episode: Legends, which was basically a love letter to fans of the golden age and seen through the eyes of John Stewart. Towards the end of the video, Shady said "the reason why so many people get hooked on characters who aren't real. Is because they represent something that is". Whether its Justice League, Bluey or anything else in geekdom, the reason we all care so much about these stories and characters, is because they emulate real world situations we may have been through or at least, give us a reason to care about them as if they're real people. I also love what you said Greg, about not needing to have an opinion on everything. I would even take it a step further and say, its ok to have an opinion, just be fully aware that if the knowledge you have on said thing involves watching a 10 second clip from a random episode, that everyone whose seen the full context has every right to disagree with and criticise said opinion. I'm personally not a fan of Black Clover, a recent shounen anime thays pretty popular, however I didn’t come to that opinion by watching 10 seconds of a random episode. I watched the show and drew my own conclusions as to why I dislike it, but I also don't demonise or make an effort to humiliate fans of the show, because typically I can understand the appeal that Black Clover has, especially being a fan of shounen myself. Regardless, I've always felt of the 4 horseman of the daily wire, Matt was always the one who I found disagreeable. And not necessarily because I personally disagree with all his opinions. The best way to describe it, is that Matt is the inverse of the overly emotionally driven ideology of the left, and is instead devoid of emotion and acts like a god damn Terminator. Its like teaching Skynet to love, but after its already genocided humanity. And just like Greg said, the absence of any emotion, does not signify a control of them
@@jeremyusreevu237 I've seen you're name about his and JAR's comment section, small world. But yeah, I love Shady, he keeps it real and his videos are always fun to watch
My thought too. Also, you can back out. We did. We were not able to buy the new house.
I’m a 35 year old man and I love watching Bluey with my kids. My favorite episode is pavlova. I laughed so hard at Bandits antics. If you haven’t seen it, I strongly recommend you go watch it.
One of my favorite episodes as well! I have acted this out with my youngest and we both had a blast laughing at ourselves. Great art enhances our lives
Unfortunately Matt Walsh and a few other DW conservatives are commonly seen as speakers for conservatives as a whole... but I disagree with most of their takes! 💀 It makes the party feel so disconnected.
What’s bugging me lately with DW is this wanna be intelligencia vibe they are trying to cultivate. Getting rid of Candace was a terrible look. Overall, they WANT to be stuffy and superior, and it’s not at all enjoyable to watch.
Like when Joe Rogan asked him how many kids were t-wording; Matt said "a million by now, I think", and it's not even close to that. The guy did a whole documentary on the issue and didn't know such a basic statistic.
@@insensitive919 You say it's a basic statistic, but look it up, there are no reliable stats on it anywhere due to the fluidity of definitions on the left. You can go by straight diagnosis of gender dysphoria, but that doesn't account for people who walk around pretending and "identifying" as different things. It's left specifically vague to be hard to measure.
@@vidmikes oh I have, then you get him talking about animations or video games and he immediately switches to insults and vitriol. Just because he makes good points most of the time doesn’t mean I have to like his attitude.
I sort of figured him to be Ben Shapiro if you removed all the humor and personality from him. Keep in mind, this assumption was based on his earlier content and am assured he has some humor to him. He's still a grump.
Didn't Matt though say that you shouldn't be a robot and that you should never be emotional is not what he wanted to say with it? He was addressing this overly emotional attitude we see everywhere these days and although I'm not a fan of his in so far he is correct. Maybe he said this in another video but he was very clear about it in another video. He doesn't think that you should NEVER cry as a man. For the rest of the arguments I absolutely agee. He tries to manufacture outrage about nothing.
When I was ten-ish years old, I realized that I had a really bad temper and put a lot of work into suppressing and controlling that emotion. Unfortunately it coupled with my first wave of depression and led to most of my emotions being stifled. I describe to people that emotions are waves, hills followed by valleys. Mine are tiny little Gulf of Mexico waves. Not a whole lot variety. My wife and I have been married for almost ten years, started dating eleven years ago and known each other for twenty. She has seen me cry five times. The difference between me and someone who brags about that is that it makes me feel broken. I honestly should probably see a therapist but I’ve gone three years without crying before. That doesn’t feel normal.
@@christophertaylor9100No, it's true. Matt Walsh has stated he hates cartoons & anime only believes they're for children. In several videos he also has shown his distaste- his displeasure for people who play video games too. Referring to them as childish people who can't grow up and are "less manly" for playing them. We're also talking about the very man who admits to hating his own wife and children. 🙄
@sonofearthltd If you don't like American animation, I recommend watching some anime. There's some pretty gruesome and hardcore ones I can recommend. I mainly recommend Berserk, Hellsing Ultimate, and Nier: Automata
I’m a single dad with a 5-year old daughter. She loves Bluey, and I work a lot, so getting to watch it with her is a highlight of the time we get to spend together.
Matt Walsh claiming to be mature, and then ranting about a show meant for children (although it is a very good show and can be enjoyed by all age groups) is the most immature thing I’ve seen in a while. And if he thinks Bluey is a stupid show, that’s his fuckin loss

Dude does not understand video games of course he won't understand how parents could cry over a cartoon, I have not seen that episode but I have watched 2 seasons of Bluey and as a 43 year old man it has made me shed tears.
Matt Walsh's personality hasn't been overwritten. That would require him to have one in the first place. ChatGPT pretends to be human more convincingly than Matt Walsh.
The sh*tshow that The Daily Wire has become in such a short amount of time is staggering. I feel bad mostly for Brett Cooper, since I thinks she's sweet, wholesome, and reminiscent of the 'good' girls I knew back in the 70s and 80s. As long as she escapes unscathed, the DW can die in a pit of it's own unwavering smugness.
Another really good show with a wholesome message. Greg is an anime called spy X family I think you would really enjoy that series. It’s got two seasons, and a movie so far.
I’m not saying C.S. Lewis is right about everything, but he is pretty much universally considered to be one of the greatest Christian thinkers of this century, perhaps of all time. Matt likes to imagine himself a stalwart defender of the faith, but if I had to choose between his views and cs Lewis’s views, well, in the words of Bella swan, “don’t make me choose, Matt. Because it’ll be him.”
I think I can speak for some Catholics here and say Matt Walsh is a bad representation of the Faith. I play video games, I watch anime, I unironically enjoy Bluey. You can do these things and still be living a holy life. It’s all about balance and temperance. Is your intent to be a lazy good for nothing or to unwind? It’s all in moderation, and Jesus teaches us to die to ourselves and lead others to Him through love and sacrifice. Matt does not embody this example and I find him a net negative to Catholicism and frankly embarrassing. Knowles is better in that regard since he is actually capable of engaging in culture.
Found your channel this morning. Subscribed. I tend to agree with the DW crew but they have a tendency to box themselves into stupid opinions. This is a very concise breakdown of how I feel about them and their weird kids shows while touching on maybe my favorite kids show of all time. Bravo sir 👏👏
I was a little puzzled by this rant because he's mentioned how much he loves Bluey many times. He's praised it for its family themes and good writing. Maybe he hadn't watched it then either. Who knows?
First of all, let me say that as a fellow stoic who loves Seneca, Epictetus, and Aurelius, I agree with you, but also allow me to play devil's advocate: I grew up a fan of cartoons. While my friends had moved on to more cool grown-up things, I continued to watch cartoons, read comics, and enjoy them. I got annoyed when some "old person" told me that I needed to start reading more "grown up" things. Like you, I shouted, "NO, look at anime and comics, they can be for adults!! I don't have to only read Shakespeare, John Grisham, or Maya Angelo to be an adult (I did read them, but I still enjoyed my "kids stuff")!!" And while this is true, it is also true that many of these comics and cartoons are, as you said, for kids. Yes, an adult can still read/watch and enjoy Superman, Avengers, Cinderella, or Bluey, but that's because the stories are so good they transcend age, but they were not MEANT for adults. This belief that somehow "Alice in Wonderland" or Disney cartoons are also for adults is exactly WHY wokeness has become so all pervasive in children's media. Should Bluey include a gay couple? An episode on the discussion of pronouns? A deep discussion on the history of racial relations in Western countries? I would argue, ABSOLUTELY NOT! IT IS FOR KIDS! Kids deserve their own media that is devoid of politics and filled with innocence and whimsy and....Oh....oh no....am I saying that something is for kids? It's almost like I don't want a Superman comic where Clark Kent is in bed naked, obviously in post-coital bliss, from sleeping with Lois Lane, or an episode of the proud family where they discuss BLM and CRT, or a feminist re-interpration of Cinderella where she shuns the Prince and enters into a lesbian relationship and opens her own shoe making business.....It kind of becomes the height of hypocrisy to say that "something is for families" when what we really mean is that "this is for kids, but it's well written, so adults can get into it too". And that is something I have commented on before: once you start saying that this is for adults, then it becomes fair to put adult content into it, and we don't get to pick and choose which adult content. This is how we get a joker in Batman who peels his face off, gay relationships in EVERY SINGLE KIDS STORY NO MATTER WHAT, etc. because it's for ADULTS now. As for stoicism, as a fellow stoic, I also agree with you. But again, I get where Walsh is coming from now. Never having emotions is not stoicism, but this has always been the question asked of Seneca: When do you show emotion and when should you show self control? We are living in a world where people are told that EVERY feeling is valid and must be expressed (usually online). There have been studies that show that expressing every ounce of sadness and rage does not alleviate it. The (what I call) teapot theory of feelings (where people feel so much that they need to express it or it will damage them) is wrong. The stoics are right, people need to practice self control, but too much of that is also wrong. It might be toxic to tell every crying boy he needs to stop...but if you don't...how do you learn that self control? Some stoics went so far as to say they regretted losing composure when a loved one was dying (Cicero I believe), but permitting every one (and yes especially men who are expected to be the strong ones) to burst into tears at every single sad moment is also not ideal. It's a difficult question, so I don't really fault Walsh, or anyone, for challenging the "let men cry" narrative.
Bluey’s writing puts 95% of modern Hollywood to shame. People like Matt get put off because they see this almost cult-like obsession that some people have because, you know, terminally online and all that. We’re so used to making snap judgments about stuff based on a few headlines or Tweets because that’s all we have time for. Which is silly because, like you said, you can simply opt to not have an opinion.
Doesn't Matt have a direct financial incentive to discredit Bluey because the daily wire's BentKey had a show chilla time? Same with Jeremy's razors And their dumb chocolate?
I honestly don't blame Matt Walsh for dismissing Bluey as "woke" over a small moment where a kid talked about having two moms. It's stupid, yes, but this is also the same show that decided to censor its own episode about exercise because people cried about "fat shaming" where it literally didn't exist. The problem, obviously, is that such complaints don't come from a place of "wokeness" but a place of narcissism, fragile egos, and a demand for conformity to others' selfish desires. The only reason Matt Walsh is hated now for saying Bluey is "woke" is because he goes out of his way to show how little he knows about this show, which he admits to not watching. He's one of those guys who thinks the best response to fake woke people crying bigotry at anyone who dares to criticize their shitty products is to be as aggressively bigoted as possible on purpose just to spite them. EDIT: My auto correct changed "shitty" to "shifty" at one point before I fixed it. Considering how most of these people use the idea of wokeness and diversity to try and manipulate how others see things, that word probably also would've fit.
I grew up with a friend who had two moms (lesbian). I don't think a single person my age cared about that point. Instead of saying "oh there's Jen, the girl with lesbian moms". It was always, "hey there's Jen" and that's it. It wasn't this big issue with her making friends or being herself. I don't get why people care if a show says "moms" when it's apart of everyday life.
Unfortunately for religious conservatives, being gay is a sin against God. Full stop. Doesnt matter about anything else. And not outright denouncing something is equated to promoting it. So when “moms” are mentioned and no one says “you can’t have two moms” then it’s automatically evil. The black and white thinking of religion really fucks people up.
Matt Walsh is several years younger than me, and before I looked it up, I thought he was in his 50s. I quit watching Matt and DW in general after their recent shenanigans.
Matt Walsh did incredible work with What Is a Woman, and it is not a coincidence that in that film he was mostly letting his interview subjects talk and expose the stupidity of their own words
I'll give him credit for actually flying down to Africa and interview an old tribe for their opinions on the current transgender situation and the fact the tribe members chuckled a little proves this situation is so put of hand currently. I mean the fact the tribe laughs when Walsh asks them if a man can turn into a woman shows they know the truth there more than the ones fooling themselves
Agreed. It’s a shame he is making such a fool of himself. Now he’s causing his own supporters to realize he’s an idiot, myself included. I agree with him on some things, but it’s hard to take him seriously now. (Please note I haven’t watched any of his recent content)
40 year old man. I cried at that scene after internally cheering for Bandit to rip the sign up. Being a parent means that you have to be able to recognize that you've made a bad decision and correct it as well. I see the ending as perfectly justified for the theme of "money isn't everything" and that it's about Bandit learning that lesson more than it is about the rest of the family getting what they want. This likely is influenced by the fact that I moved around a lot as a kid as my dad moved from job to job and then my parents got divorced. Also, as a dad of two adopted girls, you bet my kids have two moms.
The best thing that could happen for the conservative movement is for the Daily Wire to take away Walsh's daily show and just have him work on stuff like What Is A Woman. That documentary was fantastic; it was a watershed moment in the gender wars. But Walsh's hot take cultural commentary SUCKS!!!! It can basically be summed up with "You are stupid if you do not think exactly like me." He sets the conservative movement back years every time he opens his damn mouth.
This video actually helped me realize why I drifted away from mainstream conservatism and most politics in general to just have a quiet, slightly right of center libertarian leaning. After having my own kids, my world was completely shaken to the core as I realized and came to terms with what is and isn't important to me anymore. Making sure my kids are alive, happy, and know they are loved by mom and dad? Important. Getting mad because a character in a family show suggested they might have two moms, like many people in the real world do? Not important. Saying its stupid to cry over a well written story with a powerful message that can resonate with anyone of any age? ...Actually kind of important, but in the reverse, because I don't want my kids, especially my boy, to feel like their emotions are dumb or weak because they felt like a piece of art spoke to them in a way that words couldn't.
I have been dragged into kids tv for 20 years as my 6 have grown up: Bluey is by far the best show in that whole period. The subtlety of the 'show don't tell' writing, the emotional payoff, the complexity of the topics explored,: it is the most wholesome and real kids show I have ever seen, and I genuinely enjoy watching it with them. It makes me want to be a better parent. Sad that the Dad in this is one of the only role-models for parenting on mainstream TV but I will take it. It regularly moves me as it deals with the aspects of adulthood and being a parent that I wrestle with IRL. I go away convicted that I need to do better with the kids. I tell the boys 'big boys don't cry... in front of your enemies', as they transition through to adulthood they need to make sure they keep some of their vulnerability for people they can trust, the cruelty of teens and the undercurrent of confrontation and violence in young male relationships means it is unwise to be vulnerable with everyone. But I also make it clear that it is appropriate, and even beautiful, to cry for things worth crying over: love, loss, beauty, cruelty and the pain of others. It doesn't make you less of a man to be emotional. I do think it makes you less of a man to be emotional ALL THE TIME, and be broadcasting that emotion scattershot, to be lead by it, under the control of it. Holding onto your emotions is essential in men, as self control is an essential requirement of manhood. Without self control an adult male can be a dangerous thing.
I've only seen one episode of Bluey. Coincidentally, that one. I think it was playing in a waiting area at a doctor's appointment, or some such. It was enough for me to understand why there's been such a fuss over the show. That "kids show" showed far more maturity than any of a hundred shows for "adults" that think "mature content" is about what kids aren't supposed to see, rather than engaging a mature mind. I miss watching shows that remember that responsible parents are probably in the room with the kids when the TV is on.
FWIW, Greg, I love the intercutting of memes and shows. IDK if anyone else makes comments on the editing, but I always get some chuckles out of watching your videos, specifically because of the clips. Player Haters Ball and The Grinch got me this video.
This is a problem with so many conservative takes (said as a conservative). A REFUSAL to 1) see any shades of gray and 2) actually listen to other peoples' arguments. Matt does both of these a lot.
Matt makes it his mission to go to speaking engagements all over the states to speak and let others share their views with him in an effort to teach people the dangers in our culture’s current ideology.
And he does like Bluey. Greg must not watch Matt on the regular (kinda like he’s doing the same thing he’s saying Matt is doing), because Matt talks often about how Bluey is one of the very few shows he allows his children to watch. He recommends it to his subscribers for their kids.
You know what? Bluey is an incredible cartoon, and everyone involved in the making of it should be proud. The people who unironically call Bluey “woke” or “conservative” should go outside and touch grass.
Matt likes Bluey and recommends parents check it out for their kids. He thinks it’s weird grown men are crying over it and posting pictures of themselves crying over it on the internet.
I saw one episode while babysitting. The infertility episode. Being a teen who had just been diagnosed with pcos that made me cry. It's so mature for a kids' show and the animation is gorgeous. How could anyone be miserable enough to hate it?
I think it's funny to meme on the grown adults who say this show is healing their inner child or whatever but most adults who've watched would just say it's a good show that knows how to tug at the heart strings. All in moderation enjoy the blue dog show but I personally wouldn't treat it like therapy it's not that deep
Just a quick note on the ending of the episode. I think the ending is actually really good because there could be a chance that it's an allegory for the creator not wanting to sell the show. Let's hope he doesn't sell it.
That's my hope too. We need Bluey in this day and age and we need it made by the same team that's been working on it. They did just announce that they'll be doing mini-episodes. That gives me some hope.
I appreciate your maturity and level headedness - keep it up and don't give in to the temptation of sensationalism to get views. We need mature voices on the internet
I am a 27 year old blue collar man and I love Bluey. I admire how the parents instill valuable lessons to their kids by playing a game with their kids or by giving in to their children's shenanigans by going absurd. Bandit is a master at this and any good father would rather instill character into their children by play rather than force.
It's also crazy to me how Bluey got a cameo in the show Mr In-Between, a vastly different series with a much more grounded, explicit themes, but still a good watch, and actually fits with the character of one of the protagonists as though he is the typical violent Jack Reacher but Australian kind of guy, he cares about the kid he's taking care of and his mates, and he just likes watching that blue dog that he put a disabled person in his place for trying to abruptly change channels
11:00 - i just finished this week watching the anime Assassination: Classroom and if you can make it through that anime without shedding a tear or getting choked up, it doesn't make you a man, it makes you heartless and uncaring. I used to listen to Matt and Ben at first but now I really appreciate Michael Knowles as his tone is always kind towards those he is dialoging with.
Spot On! As always you bring one of the most thoughtful and critical takes on youtube these days. I've watched.......... WAY too many kids shows with my kids. Blue is the best, most wholesome, most enjoyable, most funny, etc, etc, etc children's show ever made. We love it so much. The Sign was actually the ONLY episode that I've ever had an issue with (I still enjoy it). But My family and I have moved multiple times. its been HARD. Yet, my kids will say today that every movie has been for the better. Our lives have improved across all aspects of our lives, financially, socially, spiritually, etc. I understand that the show runners just wanted happy endings. I get that. I, as an adult, would have preferred showing that change is hard, yet worth it (much of the time).
You accurately explain why, after sixteen years on the platform, I still don't make headway on X/Twitter. I have too much love, nowhere near enough hate. I'm OK with that. (Why am I still on it? I created a list of positive people and spend most of my time on X viewing only that list. 🙂)
Bluey is the reason I feel like a horrible dad at times. Bandit seems to have it all together and have all the answers, and I'm over here feeling like I'm failing forward. By the way, the editing is top notch as always. Your "but" editing had me dying....haha
I genuinely don't care much. It's an odd spot being a Christian Libertarian. Basically, I'm not interested in stopping people from living how they want, but I'm also not going to be cheering them on or telling them I agree with them.
C.S. Lewis also said “a children’s story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children’s story in the slightest “
Yup yup yup
Whenever I wrote Nd illustrated kids' books, I always asked myself, "Will the parents enjoy reading this?"
Walt Disney had a similar thought. Don't forget that adults were kids once.

That is a good message to tell kids that parents give up dreams to have a family. When I was a kid, I was SHOCKED when I found out my parents had plans at one point. It literally changed my life knowing they loved me enough to give up something they wanted all their life to become my parents.

There's often a lack of charity in his messaging, where he will state things with the utmost certainty, and I've seen it with a number of TH-camrs who actively participate in the "culture war."
So it's always refreshing when I find a well reasoning and moderate take on an issue where one doesn't have to take such a hard line stance (while still standing firm to one's morals).

She has seen me cry five times. The difference between me and someone who brags about that is that it makes me feel broken. I honestly should probably see a therapist but I’ve gone three years without crying before. That doesn’t feel normal.
Getting healthier is a net positive. Maybe you should try looking into therapy styles and literature material you resonate with.
It is public knowledge that Matt Walsh thinks animation is childish. He had no standing with any animation fan. That includes me.
That is false, but for some reason gamers love to hate on Matt Walsh without bothering to learn anything about him.

If you don't like American animation, I recommend watching some anime. There's some pretty gruesome and hardcore ones I can recommend.
I mainly recommend Berserk, Hellsing Ultimate, and Nier: Automata

Jesus is debatable with matt

I am not persuaded that Matt lives as one who would serve Christ.
Matt Walsh claiming to be mature, and then ranting about a show meant for children (although it is a very good show and can be enjoyed by all age groups) is the most immature thing I’ve seen in a while.
And if he thinks Bluey is a stupid show, that’s his fuckin loss
Walsh has some good takes, but he's the kind of conservative that makes people go to the Left. I don't know if he's a net positive for the Right.
He is. He's the main reason that there's kickback against transgenderism now. He's the first one to popularize the "what is a woman?" question.
It’s funny. When he asks a pro lgbtq+ person they define a women as a women 😆
I meant that there response is “a women”

Are you the arbiter of masculinity? 🤔 Define it for me?
LMAO he literally tweeted an anti-birthday take like two weeks after this comment.

I was a little puzzled by this rant because he's mentioned how much he loves Bluey many times. He's praised it for its family themes and good writing. Maybe he hadn't watched it then either. Who knows?
I hit the like button, I just had to, I was sold instantly, that was a smoove moove
SUCCESS! Pro move wins again!
The biggest advice I heard about about emotion: "Feel your sh*t, now your sh*t, but don't lose your sh*t"
Thank you for understanding stoicism. So many people just think it's being a robot.
"Swallowed his foot to the knee"
Oh my god, I almost did a spit take with that. That was a beautiful image!
My goodness....I was the first person to call you the 'non-scary Matt Walsh'...so long ago. Happier, simpler times.
Still a badge I wear with pride, haha
SO THAT WAS YOU! 😂
Same with Jeremy's razors
And their dumb chocolate?
"It's not wokeness, it's narcissistic demand for conformity." Six of one, half dozen of the other.
Greg
You are fantastic.
I appreciate your observations and focus on detail and adult mature points .
Keep them coming my brother !!!
Matt's the type of guy who tells an abused child to suck it up and be a man.
Matt Walsh is several years younger than me, and before I looked it up, I thought he was in his 50s. I quit watching Matt and DW in general after their recent shenanigans.
Mate, you have just made one of the best decisions in your life.
@Thomasmemoryscentral Why would you trust the opinion of a people he'd otherwise consider savages? How does that prove anything?
Clearly you didn't watch the episode: Bandit didn't back out of the sale, the buyer did; Bandit decided nothing.
@@MartenFerret I didn’t see any reference in the original comment to Bandit having decided anything
@@MartenFerret Bandit took the house off the market after the buyers backed out.
Matt Walsh: when he's right, he's right, but when he has no idea what he's talking about, he'll die defending it.
Facts! Maybe he should learn that facts don't care about his opinions.
I think there's a lot more Bluey could do
bluey and bingo expecting a new sibling or a new cousin

Love the unbiased takes Greg. Videos like this are SO necessary nowadays.
Just a quick note on the ending of the episode. I think the ending is actually really good because there could be a chance that it's an allegory for the creator not wanting to sell the show. Let's hope he doesn't sell it.
I certainly hope not. I heard they had just been cranking out the show and needed a break. Makes sense, they made 150 episodes.
That's my hope too. We need Bluey in this day and age and we need it made by the same team that's been working on it. They did just announce that they'll be doing mini-episodes. That gives me some hope.
Daily wire needs to take a break from lighting itself on fire

It's also crazy to me how Bluey got a cameo in the show Mr In-Between, a vastly different series with a much more grounded, explicit themes, but still a good watch, and actually fits with the character of one of the protagonists as though he is the typical violent Jack Reacher but Australian kind of guy, he cares about the kid he's taking care of and his mates, and he just likes watching that blue dog that he put a disabled person in his place for trying to abruptly change channels
