My female budgie has 3 babies out of her 9 eggs. 1 of the babies is currently only 4 hours old. The other 2 are 3 and 5 days old. The father and mother are really good parents, so I'm expecting more babies! :)

Help Please My budgie laid an egg on Saturday, I handled and put it in a nest on Sunday but she hasn’t gotten near the egg. I tried candling the egg and don’t see anything except small little bubbles that move to the top surface when I move the egg around... it’s been 4 days and it seems like the bubbles are a bit bigger than when I first checked but there are no vein or baby outline. Does this mean egg is unfertilized? It’s her first time laying an egg. Also is there a way to incubate eggs without an incubator?

Can someone help. My budgie egg is in its 17th day and there is a little crack on it. I dont know if it is hatching but it is making small noises. I closed the crack up with a little bit of masking tape so air doesnt get in and dry it up. My other eggs have a few little thin cracks but not all are on the 17th or 18th day. I dont know if the tape is helping.

Shilpa Pathania Yes it is fine to handle them, i have done it many times but you must make sure that you wash your hands! Birds can't really tell which eggs are there's, as they can foster care others fine,if you are worried they won't except i afterwards.So just handle with care. Hopefully this helps🐣😊

+Miracle Edwards with parakeets you are supposed to handle the eggs (rarely) in order to check if the egg is fertilized. The parakeets have a bad sense of smell, so they wont mind if they dont see you
I have always handled my budgerigars' eggs and checked if they were fertile like in this video, the birds have never abandoned their eggs nor killed or abandoned their chicks when I have handled them even from the hatch date :) I hope that helped!

But I candle eggs quite frequently, to check to see how they are doing and if any do die in the shell, I can check at what age and potentially what may have caused it. However the more you handle them the more likely they are to not do so well. So I label them with a number as soon as they are laid. Then 5 days later I candle them to see if they are fertile. Then I often candle again a week or so later to see how they have progressed. Budgerigars and most parrots have a poor sense of smell and rarely abandon the eggs if you handle them. They also don't know what ones are theirs, as I and many other budgie and parrot breeders foster eggs over to different parents frequently.

My parakeet just laid her first egg but isn't sitting on it. Is this okay. I was told she probably won't sit until she is done laying all her eggs.

Buy plastic boxes and put them in the dishwasher when no one is watching..lol
