I got mine today! I'm glad it got here before Hurricane Milton!
@@HiddenHeightsFarm sorry no pictures of honey for me I'm a diabetic
Netting over the coop run
even some shade cloth would work.
GOOD Suggestion!!!
Coyotes CAN Jump-High,
AND Even Climb, Up To A Point.

They ain't coming in that yard with Mojo there 😅😅😅@@angelpony1657
Owls and hawks will. My neighbor lost chickens and full grown tom turkeys and geese. Was crazy!
Wont the predator bird get in the trees and take chickens?
If you can get a third roll of fencing, you can always expand the chicken yard
And I gotta give it to you Kevin, you're really good with that backhoe
For sure
👍🏻
I miss seeing Ms. Betty, too. Don't be too hard on yourself. Yes! I'm a loyal fan lol
The chickens will be safe being in their new space and with Mojo as protection against predators. Mojo is so smart, once he saw that a deer was near, he stopped barking, knowing there was no threat there. Love and prayers to you all. ❤🙏
Good morning Hidden Hight Family. The chickens 🐔 are going to love ❤️ there new home. Safe from predator. That is a lot of very large rocks/holders. Thank you for sharing with us ❤❤❤
Aw Kevin. Sorry about Ms. Betty. Hard to keep predators away. Only so much you can do. Even aerial predators are quick. We all know you do your best you can for all your animals. Good bless.❤️
Eddy family farms is also have a horrible time with predators. They are currently building new chicken coops to protect them.
The new chicken coop is gonna be awesome! They will have plenty of room. Will you take the hen and chicks out if they do nest? The chicks won't be safe if they are all confined....or will they?
That is an amazing chicken coop..Your chicken will be living the life of luxury and giving you triple amounts of eggs..lol also I love that color that it's painted..
I hope so!
As long as none of them Quack-
you’re Good, lol!!!

😂
Hi Lisa nice meeting you on here. How are you doing today
I think your building a nice large run for the chicken, you would think they would be happy in there and not try to fly out. Then again no one ever said I have smart chicken... I don't think??? Good Job!
That ground is crazy rocky. Good job.
The chicken run is great. Y’all did an amazing job.
I do love Skeeter, he looks like the miniature schnauzer we used to have.
❤
Oh my goodness. Ya'll need a jackhammer attachment.
Good job digging the holes with the backhoe. It's good you have so you can get through all that rock. Looks like y'all gonna have a nice chicken pen. Mojo is doing his job trying to frighten the predators. GOD bless y'all.
Great to see you and Rachael working together on projects ❤❤❤❤
Wow Rachel! You are so trim and slim! Congratulations!
Thank you!!
Kevin, we are in Broken Arrow & had problems trying to find the 5' or 6' hog wire fence too. We lost our entire fence to a tornado last year & wanted to make a 6'panel type fence & couldn't get it, so we went with black vinyl coated chain link inbetween our posts & a top & bottom rail. Glad you all got some of that hog wire roll. We ran into lots of sandstone rock too when putting in our fence & storm shelter. Gotta love that Oklahoma dirt!
I watch about 10 different farm families or homesteader and I would like to congratulate you on being the first one I have seen mix cement before putting it in a post hole 2 thumbs up! 👍👍
YES!!!
⚪️
😃👍🏻
Some cements are made to go in dry then add water.
Hello dear
Is that what people call 'hardware wire'?
Coz predators can get through standard wire.
In Australia we are 'not allowed' to build 'any' permanent structures, without paying to get approval.
That trolley has really served you well & definitely paid for itself!
Dutch said they pay taxes on permanent buildings over there .They just don't have to have permission like us in Australia
Hello dear
Great photo of MOJO. The deer looks young still. You will love the staple gun.
The chickens will be happy there in the new chicken coop be safe ❤
Your chicken coop looks great!!! Can’t wait to see your chickens in there!!! God bless you!!!
You both are looking great. You both have lost weight!! Fantastic 😊
Thank you so much!
Wow! I can really see (and hear) what you mean about how rocky the ground is. I could hear the blades scraping the rocks.
That looks like a good sized area, I think the chickens will be happy there 😊 I feel for you, dealing with all those rocks! 😮 Makes a hard job 10 times harder! Y’all did good though, I think I would have cried 😂
Great job most enjoyable thanks. Chris from England
Glad you enjoyed it
If you trim one side of their wing feathers they can not fly over, it makes them lopsided.
Hello dear
And it was SWEET! Thanks folks!!
You bet!
You can always add on when you get more fence as it comes available. I’m excited that you’re getting to that. I been patiently waiting to see the progress and finished project.
So sorry about what happened to Miss Betty, I’ll sure miss her updates. And I agree with others, don’t be too hard on yourself. Sometimes things are just out of our control.
You’re making positive changes to prevent it in the future. It will all work out
Just be glad it's Rocky there instead of just red clay. Makes the water so much nicer.
love the spance of the coop. Just built my coop this last June, Took a month. We can't have more than 4 chickens in our town, but non the less ,we have chickens now.
Loved watching you and Rachel work together. When my husband and I were young, he operated a big backhoe and when he would use it at home for about , I would help him. ❤love y’all’s channel. Love your animals and farm! You are really blessed. God bless from OKC. Have a great weekend .❤
That is awesome!
Great size chicken coop 😋 Rachel looks great !!! 😃👍👍
If the coop floor is wood, someday you could raise it a couple of blocks. That would be good for the chickens to get under for shade, rain, and safety.
Hi y'all, I think the chicken coop will be a great coop!! love you guys God bless see you next time
After all the rock digging I hope the chickens will stay inside that pen. Good job!❤
Kevin you are so good with your hands always making the best improvisation so the animals are safe.
Thanks 👍
👍🏻
For you and Rachel to put in your information bank for the future.
My cousin has a pheasant farm and he uses a netting above his fencing specially made for the birds not to be able to fly out. (I believe it is "inch by inch" netting and comes in a huge bundle.) However, you wouldn't be able to use it in the new area with the tall trees you have, unless you would run it only where there are no trees. But I didn't see trees in your old area with the shorter fencing, you could use it to top the chicken area there keeping the chickens from flying out..... and make it harder for other predators to get in. Alfred probably would still be able to get in though.......
Netting over top of the run will prevent attacks from above! You should also put 1/4 inch hardware cloth around the bottom to stop critters from digging underneath the fence and also attach some to the bottom of the 2x4 fencing to stop raccoons for instance from reaching through and grabbing a chicken and trying to pull it through the fence!
@@marionboudreau-sr6vh that’s what I was asking him about. He answered “it’s a threat”. So was he saying it’s a threat for netting of some type to go over the top? It’s great that it’s 6 ft but hawks fly down.I know not one thing about raising chickens I was just wondering.
Absolutely Agree!!!
😇
I had chickens for 14 years on 4 acres that was fenced, mostly wooded and never lost a chicken due to a raptor. I scared a hawk off one day, never saw another.
Ya'll MOJO will be able to get around this house. He will take out any racoon, possum, skunk, a weasel might could sneak by but I'm pretty sure that they are very, vary rare where That coop will be.
Chickens are going to be happy! Plenty of room to roam!
I hope they enjoy it
You will get her done when you get her done😊❤
That's quite rocky soil you have there. We have layers of shale here in central PA, so you can use an auger, but sometimes it takes a crowbar and sledge hammer to break through the shale. You had your work cut out for you on those posts. Good job.
Try doing that here in Trapper Creek Alaska! We have very bigrocks also. We have to wait until the permafrost thaws every year to dig. I'll trade with you!✌🏻❤🤠
I agree you can add some netting over the top to help keep them in and protect from the predators
That’s amazing footage on that camera at night.
Thank you
How about if you were to put up fencing with smaller squares so the chickens can't go into the woods?
I hear what your saying about ROCKS. Want to see another couple of Homesteaders with similar issues. 1. Red Poppy Ranch. Heath has built retaining walls with heaps of the boulders he has had ‘the_Joy’ of finding. 2. Lumnah Acres. He has promised his wife a special garden bounded by the bigger rocks. Man he mad so many of them.
Also can you put your highest fence on the outer side of your Chicken Run with shorter fencing on the inner side where your wonderful guard dogs can patrol.
Also can you run some cheaper product as a roof over the RUN so to reduce attacks from the sky.
I don’t often comment because I watch TH-cam on my TV. This is special, just for you my special people. God Bless and all my Love from Ellen.
Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺 love you!!
The mobile home park we live in is called Rock Hill. Guess why?
TOTALLY OFF THE SUBJECT OF THIS VIDEO! RACHEL U R LOOKING BETTER THAN EVER. U LOOK LIKE THE PIC I ONCE SWA OF U WEN U & KEVIN WHERE TEENAGER!! BLESSING IN THE LORD FOR U AND UR KIDS x 👩🏽🦱🙏🏽UK xx
Storm cellar door should open to the inside not outside, you need to remember if something falls on the door you will not be able t get out. Also, I see any fold premixing concrete they pour dy mix in the and add water.
You need a post hole auger for your tractor it sure does make doing post so much easier, you can also buy large bird netting to cover it to keep anything out or do like we did and covered it with a roof so they could be in the yard on rainy days also. The clear corrugated works really good because it gives them light but protects them from predators and rain, we took some old fencing and laid on the ground for along the walls and then laid chat so Nothing can dig in or them dig out also.
You missed His comment about the post Auger....
I have never seen so many rocks on such a beautiful farm. You guys have tackled a really hard job. It takes 2 and you 2 have a hard job before you. God bless you and be safe. I am glad you explained why you aren’t using an Augar. .
Coop looks excellent. Chickens are going to love all the room. Rachel, you look fabulous. You're so fit. I love your farm and channel 😊
Thank you so much!
I can see the chicken run will be great. You and Rachel are doing an excellent job. If you don't mind, I was just wondering, I know the chicken run is quite big of an area, but if putting up a partial roof would help protect against the weather, and aerial predator.
I am thankful I don't have rocks here in Elkhart Indiana. Every TH-camr I have watched has very rocky soil.
A farmer made a wire cage round ball for each chicken so they can go where they want without being attacked
that sounds interesting
@@horsepoorwilson they have heavy plastic ones on Amazon
Love the new Chicken Coop/Palace 😊

You have rocks in OK. Here in central Virginia, we have clay, clay, and more clay! 😤😡
You can expand if you get a third roll. Put a cover over top to deter Ariel predators please. Betty was a good momma. Blessings 🙏🫶❤️🫶🙏
I think any chicken would be proud to call this coop home. I think you should call it Betties Palace. Just a thought. love you guys, stay safe.🐤
Love the name suggestion...Agree!!!
😇
You can always expand with 6 ft chainlink fencing.
Dang that is a lot of rocks, I thought we had a lot of rocks here in Central Texas. You win!!!
Rachel you are so beautiful and I love the way you are always ready to help Kevin with anything he is doing. Love all your videos ❤️❤❤❤
❤ job well done yaw !! Going ya a be a nice one❣️❣️
Wow. You two have done big work today.!! 👍👍❤️🇺🇸✝️
Thanks 👍
Looks great.
Nice job Kevin! So straight!
Happy to see you hello all😊
You. 2 did a Great Job
Those holes by excavator seem SO overkill for a post hole, but also make perfect sense with your ground. Clay is my nemesis. Especially since I'm not strong enough to use the post hole attachment for the tractor, so I use the one by hand.
Yeah it's way overkill but not many other ways to get it done
Great video Kevin. I enjoyed watching you work so hard. Just kidding. I enjoy all your videos.
Kevin ... just the chicken coop project was delayed due to HEAT!!!!! and material delay, but mostly too damn HOT!!!!!
I stuck around to the end but I have to use honey from my local area so I don't get as by with hay fever
Can you imagine how hard the "old timers" had it trying to dig everything by hand? It was tough with the backhoe, the good news if you ever want to build a rock wall you have plenty.
👍🏻
Your yard is full of rocks and boulders under all that grass. WOW!
Where my parents house is (Tasmania) it was boulders and lots and lots of clay, all the topsoil had been removed by the developer.
I think your new coop is cute! You guys did a great job!
Kevin, you are a professional on that Kubota!! You work it like a big human arm!! Reachel, maybe when you and Kevin dig that pond out, you might find fossil, dinosaur or something. ❤ ❤ 😊
The chicken run is huge , it looks like it will be great .Skeeter is so cute .
💖💖🙏🙏👍👍🙏🙏💖💖
One thing we grow better than anything else is rock and red(orange) clay. We have so many water animal fossil that nobody cares anymore lol
When I was a girl in Pennsylvania,we had 50 Rhode Island reds, and I was always on hawk detail. There was a fence all the way around but no netting over the top. My mother did a head count every night. We didn’t lose to many to predators.
We live in Roland Arkansas which is in the foothills of Ozark mountains. We know very well how the rocks multiply in the ground. I agree when you see the videos of digging dirt without rocks, it almost looks unreal. You mean there’s actually soil without rocks???!?!! It’s unbelievable. I’ve really enjoyed watching your channel for the past several months. I’ve never commented but there are so many similarities between Ok and Ar. God bless your family and keep up the good work.
I think it’s going to be awesome when you get it done. God bless
Hello 👋 pretty lady how are you doing today and the weather condition like?
Great job on mixing the water into the cement before pouring it into the hole. So many don't do it that way.
Thanks 👍
Thumbs up button isn't working..or counting...FYI ❤
Miss you Miss Betty.
That’s a nice camera! We could use a few. We have a half acre with no fence and we back up to a farm and woods. My neighbor is a cop and they probably have 10 cameras. 😂. She ain’t playin. 😂
Thanks Guys.
Not sure if You can get Ginseng Shade cloth down there. Would be perfect cover the pen area.
There is so much of it Up here by Me they have a hard time giving it away after several seasons
Heavy equipment is a Godsend in that rocky soil. Great job on the chicken palace. You did your ladies proud!!!
You got that right!
I have the opposite problem here in Florida. I can practically drive a t-post into the sand totally by hand. Of course I bought a driver and usually use it just to go quicker. Unfortunately, this means that even driving them 3-4 feet in they tend to pull loose.
Always like to see Kevin getting it done!!!
Thank you
Your wonderful wife is a big help to you for sure . God bless y'all
Thanks 👍
I love your new security camera folks....fantastic asset. I also wondered why you weren't using your auger bit until I saw that shelf of rock that you had to break up. Well done, hard sweaty work there but your future Bantams will bless you for it! Actually they won't know how darn lucky they really are. Mr Mo will though...that run will make his job way more focused!
That was one huge job! So many rocks. Wow! Glad you got it done! Rachel was a great help to you. Little Skeeter was there to supervise 😂 😂. So hoping the 6 foot fencing will do the trick. Most people have no idea how hard farming can be but growing up on one with dairy cows and never going on a vacation ever with my parents I do and so appreciate you guys! Give my Love to the family. Love ya all Bunches. Grammie Suzie ❤❤❤❤
Other Farmers have, fixed where the Eggs can be gathered, from the outside. 🥚🥚🍀💚 Moth balls around the outside of the henhouse,is supposed to keep Snakes away!🐍🐍
WOW! I didn't realise that!
Tah for the info.
Lavender I think I read help keeps mice & rats away + when trying to catch mice, always put the bait next to the wall or similar.
They always tend to run around the perimeter of a room where theres furniture placed!
@@susanpoland5919 We spray a mixture of peppermint essential oil and water around the perimeter of our house, under the steps and around our attached garage and around the deck that is attached to the house for our patio door. We discovered a few years ago that the nasty little critters had chewed a hole in the mesh of our outside of our dryer vent and were getting in the house that way. Once my husband replaced the mesh, no more of those creatures in the house. I am absolutely terrified of mice, which I've been told is an irrational fear, and maybe it is, but I can't help it.
Wait until you see how we did the inside
@@HiddenHeightsFarmI can't wait to see it

A chicken will never get out of that pen! Probably neither would a Buffalo if you want to put one in there! You have some rocky soil in Oklahoma.
Kevin, you do such an amazing job with your backhoe I love watching you work with it. Great job digging and setting the post.Love seeing you and Rachel working together. ❤
Wow, thank you!
Wow! Rachel, you have lost a bunch of weight! ❤ I just ordered some honey too! Yay!
Y'all are such hard workers and a great family! God bless you!
Man, I thought my Texas clay soil was bad. Those rocks are crazy!
Lovely new chicken coop and area. ❇️💕❇️
Thank you! 😊
Put same wire in the ground next to the pin so not a thing will not go under it keep them chicken I lost same chicken this year I have 4 hen now but I made it safe for them now
I'd like to see the inside of the coop once Rachel and Kaya finish decorating.
LOL!
