This can be a confusing process, took a couple tries but we finally got it all submitted. Tina in the Portland BLM office was very helpful and helped us out before we submitted incorrect paperwork. After a few phone calls and emails everything went through first time.
how did the mining go.did you get a ton of gold.
asking other to get a better picture of reality.
did you do a placer or lode claim. how much was the final cost in that state. thanks
@@MrLiquidxIce Sorry for the delay, don't think I ever saw your question or I still hadn't figured out how to use TH-cam. We ended up letting this claim go as it didn't really "pan out". USFS imposed restrictions because if was a wildfire recovery area and with the snow that area gets it;s only accessible 5 or 6 month/yr. Just wasn't worth keeping.
@@TBU2012 It was a placer. The costs were the standard BLM fees which have gone up since then and the county filing fees, about $20. Not all counties in Washington require paperwork to be filed with them, I can't speak for other states.

Great video jeff. Made it simple and easy to understand. When i filed my first claim the clerk was real helpful.
Once again another great video - My partners and I are looking for our own claim here in Colorado - it's difficult physical work tramping the rugged mountains (downside) but there is so much incredible mineralized areas that you do have a fair chance of locating a claim (upside).
I literally watch this while I'm filling out claim papers to get it right..very helpful again..thanks jeff!!

I thought it was very clear and easy to understand. Jeff, you are a great teacher. You have the gift of communicating complex information in a simple way. Geology is not a simple subject either. I know you keep it fairly narrow to rocks that have to do with locating precious metals. The repetition is helpful, and you do it alot on your videos (Limonite) lol. Keep up the great work!!!

I took a vacation a few years ago to Las Vegas, where we rented a car and traveled to Pahrump to try and see Art Bell. Funny thing, no one we asked in town had ever heard of him. Nice to know another celebrity is in the area.

That was a great video on filing a claim. Thank you very much. One thing - I was a land surveyor in my youth and we worked in places where the ground was so rocky and mineralized that if we tried to use a 2X2 we would be lucky to have anything left by the time we drove it in. Use a steel pipe? Thanks again for all your videos.

Hey Jeff- you are like a mentor to so many want to be digdugs out here. You have showed us skills and shared the wisdom you have accumulated over the years. This was one of the missing keystones. THANK YOU! I'm trying to research old closed mines in my area and seeing if the land is for sale. I know it's a stretch but trying to help increase GPAA offerings on the east coast is a need. We are all the forgotten over here it seems. Have you ever used Google earth in conjunction with the BLM data? Might you have any advice for my quest O' Wise one?
I use Google Earth and Mine Cache in conjunction with the LR2000. For the township info I use ArcGIS-WSDOT which is for Washington, don't know if there's anything similar for east coast.

There is gold in Lincoln county, in White Oaks... but thats NM not Nevada. But there is also lots in Nogal,NM as well which too is in Lincoln County... The county famed for Billy the Kid and the Lincoln county wars

Yes, I tell people that I have a better deed at the mines in Goldfield than what people have in most towns, no building permits, zoning and I have mineral rights !!
Can you explain what a patented ground is? And how long they are good for? I found a patented area dated 1912 , looks like the owner is dead.
Patented ground is private property, decades ago,when a Mine was proven to have a valuable resource like mineral, you could apply for a patent on a mining claim, the claim, if Patented would have a deed pretty well like the deed to your house, except, it would be even better because you would also own the mineral rights. You would pay assessed taxes, just like your property. Claims through BLM are issued through the grace of BLM, they could cancel your claim if they want at any time. A Patented claim you own until you sell it or lose it by not paying your property taxes.....

hey jeff just wanted to ask how to get the usgs reports on specific locations on types of mineral deposits,rock formations,etcetera, to further research on the desired terrain. i have tried to research
the types of mineral deposits in certain counties of nevada preferably close to pahrump nv like around the jhonny mine district but have got nowhere with it to many sites on useless information and not what i am looking for can you help explain by email or video how to do so in researching with the usgs of how you would determine what would be a good mineralized area to even begin to look

what if your hiking around looking for somewhere to mine and you see a claim that is old and the paperwork is out of date. is it legal to look there? or what if your just out hiking and see a likely looking wash to putter around in and there isnt any markers anywhere... is it ok to look there

We made it to Az to look for a Placer claim it's good to know what the paperwork will be like. I found a few claims on the hassayampa River in the 4k range but am unable to find any information about them it's not easy to find a good claim
