      See if you can fid the television program made in the late 1990s. I used to sit up after midnight in NM and watching "Buzzard" explore, comb thru and recover gold from old mining sites. A wealth of information re: would make one able to work at it. Outdoors, healthy from hard work.what, where, how to make a good living doing so. As a cardiac patient I could only wish others luck. For a young healthy male - say 3 months of researching knowledge and then go at it. Healthy from hard work, never worry about time clocks, no manager except yourself,

      @@razorramoang5947 Ray there's an onscreen personality and then there is the "just me" personality. For people who are new to gold prospecting, you have to keep them interested and entertained. I remember something "Pig Vomit" said in the movie about Howard Stern in the early days. Pig Vomit wanted to fire him, and someone asked him why he didn't. He said something to the effect of: "Because we have two groups of people listening to him, those that average listening about 1 hour 40 minutes a day those that average 2 hours and 15 minutes." The person said "His fans are listening over 2 hours?" Pig Vomit said "NO! Those are the people that hate him , they stay tuned in because they want to see what he is going to say next."
      A lot of people don't like my personality... I guess I can't blame her she has been married to me for 50 years. Maybe Jeff is a little over the tope for some people but that has nothing to do with the vast amount of valuable knowledge the man has.

By watching many of his videos, I've learned what to look for, kind of rocks, landscape, etc. While he's a character, and I suspect that he's playing a role (more or less); Jeff seems to have fun not only searching for gold himself, but also teaching those watching. This man's knowledge is amazing. Yeah for sure if he's my uncle, i will hide if he is coming. I actually got an uncle like that...he always says " you supposedly know that". Jeff's knowledge of Geology is totaly amazing. He's teaching here in this video not just the basic structures and earth substances but also the relation of all living organism found in that particular area. If you are planning to study Geology..this is one of the best hint to get an idea. Geology is huge this is just 1 area of geology there's more... like history of life, time scale, evolution of dinosaurs, geological time, about fossils, chemistry, earth structure and substances etc etc. If your your patience is limited? you won't survive geology. Jeff's also show here 1 of the fundamental weapon you need to posses in order to survive this huge field of study by being ENTHUSIASTIC...this will help enjoying your study and motivates you to keep moving rather than being exhuasted. Correct me if i'm wrong only 2 out of 10 passed Geology.

    I know you're looking at a placer but I found the most recent video in the hopes that you see this and answer a question concerning a lode. I explored Colorado mines in the mid 1970s to 1990s before the BLM decided that our history didn't matter. Anyway, the entire time I walked cross cuts, drifts, stopes and winzes I never once thought about how the floor was smoothed enough to lay cross ties for ore cart track. When the shot pattern is drilled in the face there is the lifting charge on the bottom that I don't believe would leave the floor any smoother than the ribs or back. It was suggested by someone else that gravel filled in the low spots but that would mean the highest tie would have to be as high as the highest rough spot, if that makes sense. I wrote it any I'm not sure if it makes sense to me. Anyway, I don't honestly know why I didn't think about that when I met up with miners but now finding the answer is an item on my bucken list. Please help me out with this if you can. And thanks for the videos. I thought I knew it all when prospecting but this old dog has learned a few new tricks.

    • @Askjeffwilliams
      @Askjeffwilliams  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dave you are right . Went driving a drift your last round is a lifter and a slick plate is put down next to the working face to catch the muck and to make mucking easier. As the miners drive the drift, they fill in the bottom which has a rough cut due to blasting to bring it up and level it out. Most of the time they will put the cross ties in first level them out and then back fill with muck and then lay track. Some mines if they have a lot of water they will build up the floor to make it sit higher and drain on both sides of the track.

    • @davebeckley2584
      @davebeckley2584 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, that's two for 'fill in the rough floor with blast material', in other words gravel and none 'pound down the high points with a hammer.' I had a had time seeing that because I didn't think there would be enough material turned into something the size of fines up to inch or two inch material but then I've never entered a mine after the shot but before the muck was hauled out. I'm certain that quantity of material was dependent upon the rock being blasted. Thanks a lot. Now I'll let Frank of 'Exploring Abandoned Mines know that he was right. I'll keep watching and be back with another question.

    Your out prospecting and why don't you have your GB2 with you to help you know where the gold is? Your rods point to the direction then your detector would direct you right to the gold area... Then you could pull a sample of the dirt and take it with you.... It just makes more sense to me that way... But I'm not out there gold prospecting.... I'm just disabled biker laying in bed wondering why... LOL...😋😋

    • @handleismyhandle

      I have a whites GMT, and the problem I find is that gold is usually in areas of heaviest mineralization, and even a good detector gets screwy in such places. Red earth is the worst.

    For all you non believers in dowsing rods,don't say anything until you have tried it! I used to feel the same way until I saw a neighbour looking for water on his property with 2 pieces of a wire coat hangar and he found it. I tried it myself and was surprised that I too was able to dowse. It's not a gimmick and you don't need to spend any money to test it out. Cut a wire coat hanger with side cutters or linesmen pliers in the middle at the bottom and on either side of the hook so you have 2 pieces of equal length and then straighten them to a perfect 90 degree bend and you are all set to go! Go test it out! I'm not saying it will make you find gold but it will show high mineralization,buried steel,water etc! You will be surprised! The 2 pieces have to come from one solid piece of wire however!
