Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Jeep Renegade 2019

  • Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
    - a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid barrier
    - an offset frontal impact test, 40% of the width of the car is striking a deformable barrier
    - a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole
    - a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door.
    A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled.
    Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking systems (car to car, with a pedestrian and a cyclist target), lane support and speed assist technologies and seatbelt reminders.

    Only because the basic model hasn't got the automatic brake System. In 2014 it received 5 stars.

      Exactly. The objective is that from the base finish or entrance it has the same level of security as the rest of the finishes.
      The previous model, obtained 5 stars because it offered the same security in all finishes. Electronic driving assistance (ADAS) has a value in the overall rating.

      I crashed into a woman making a wrong u turn with my c250 coupe 2014 a 2 ton car, Right on the driver's door. She's was fine considering I was at 40mph and she was stop. She just broke her arms.

      Creo que miden otros parámetros, como choque con peatones... En crash siguen teniendo 5 estrellas por lo que he leído. Un saludo

    No more two different score for standard car and car with optional ADAS?
    EDIT: I’ve read the report, even with optional AEB and ACC it probably wouldn’t get 5 stars because it lacks pedestrian and cyclists recognition and the active bonnet.

    Le jour où les conducteurs seront attentifs et les piétons et cyclistes ne seront plus suicidaires, la voiture sera parfaite...C'est juste une question d'éducation et de prudence mutuelle...La Renegade est une superbe voiture dans son segment!

      No AEB in this model whatsoever, hence no tests.

    Horrible 3* rating because FCA spares basic safety systems in their base model. Well done FCA!
    Who is making those decisions at FCA? Of course, they know they have to integrate systems that are mandatory in 2019 or fail in the NCAP test.
    Instead, they decide no to do so and keep people from buying this car, as no one wants a car with a poor 3* crash test rating.
    Italy seems unable to produce competitive cars anymore, with the exception of Ferrari.
    No wonder they are in a deep mess.
    Their decision making is absurd.

      Since customers hate the automatic braking system it's actually very reasonable to leave it out. Too many false alarms by the emergency braking systems, awful thing to have onboard. I think it's great to still have companies that want to cater for the customer's needs, not for the automotive journalists and safety governance.

      @@zaphod2 If a truck runs up to your car on the motorway while emergency braking activates, that's one accident caused by AEB, not one avoided.

    They could've tested the high spec model, but nobody's gonna buy that anyways.. This is a very accurate, albeit disliked representation.

      @@mrfrancy0154 sicuramente la sicurezza gira intorno al conducente ma oggi con le tecnologie così collaudate, il non inserire queste novità trovo sia poco lungimirante. Infatti con i nuovi standard di sicurezza senza sistemi di avoid crash non si prende più di 3 massimo 4 stelle
