Here’s the answer to some of the things you don’t like. The acceleration issue has to do with it being auto shift but it’s also the Paccar motor. From what I’ve heard you can have the shift points and setting for the transmission changed. It’s set at what Trans Am trucking had their trucks set at. Also the lack of acceleration while turning is the stability control. The mudflaps issue is just the cheap version Trans Am ordered the truck with. Measure your bolt spacing on the inside of the frame and get a different style. You bought a company spec truck. Tine to un spec it and make it yours. 👍🏻

As a company driver the only trucks in our fleet are KW T680's. I've been with the company for 2 &1/2 years now and my biggest bitch about this 2019 I'm in is the fact that the company has had to have the gear stalk replaced twice because if you use the manual override along with the cruise control the stalk goes out within 6 months. And if you don't use the manual override you'll cause unnecessary wear and tear on the engine because the transmission wants to upshift at 1200RPM's. Hell I'm sitting here at home right now because my truck is back in the shop for that very reason. I guess it's not going to be a very profitable week for me.

I would say to any first time big truck buyer take some time and look at several trucks. I think that if at all possible go to a big truck auction and look at several trucks start and listen to the truck check and see if the clutch brake works. Look at the body for any hidden body damage. Then see what the trucks sells for at auction. This will give you an idea what to expect to pay for a truck. What I'm saying is look around before you go and buy a truck. You will be proud that you looked at several options in your purchase options before buying your own truck. Enough said!!!

1 there should be different performance settings in the trans ecm. It will never be good Cummins take off slow as well just a byproduct of the auto shift. Skipping gears help sometimes.2 all paccar scan be updated to 500hp but is expensive. 3 paccar are hard to work on if you find someone that can work on them keep them. Don’t let the shop keep throwing parts at it and be prepared for check engine lights they like to derate for everything. 4 ditch the rear wheel covers and polish them up and congrats on your truck

I don’t want you to think that I’m a hater I see you love the truck. There is a difference between love and experience. I’m a maintenance manager and our fleet has 60+ KW with Paccar engines. Those from 15-17 are overall better than the new ones but still awful. The 2018 and up that’s different story and sad story. In this moment I have 3 in the dealers for Head gasket failure because of the cylinder head bolts(6-7 truck overall just with this issue). 2nd is for Camshaft failure and they have recall on this we’ve sent total of 20 trucks so far which of most got either new blocks only or blocks and cylinder head together. DPF system sucks,DEF Quality sensors are terrible they go bad on 150-250K which is unheard of. ABS harnesses probably I’ve changed 25+ so far, because it’s connected with the Trans and put’s you in limp mode you have to tow the truck. I wish you good luck but this trucks are so unreliable it’s crazy. Parts are super expensive, hard to find and only dealers can work on this trucks. Gearing set up sucks, truck is jumping, rough changes etc.Yes there is better quality interior wise but at the end of the day you need to own a truck not the other way around. Be careful and good luck.

People like it but it doesn't mean it's anything to brag about personally. I think it's because i see mega carriers carrying mass amounts of T680's, 579'S, Cascadias and Prostars. If i had to pay for a truck i'd be buying a 389, Coronado, or T800. Something with longer resale value. But i guess as long as you're making money who gives a shit, amr?

Thanks for the downlow on the T680. Been driving Cascadia's for awhile. Swift wants to put me in one. In asking other drivers, they've said it's a bit noisy on clean idle when your getting some shut eye. The motor vibrates quite a bit more then a Cascadia. What's your thoughts on that bro?

I've been driving a 2017 T680 for the last 5 months. I haven't driven a Cascadia yet. But the KW does have a some vibration at idle, but it actually helps me sleep. Overall this is a great truck. Only mechanical issue I've had is a burst coolant hose. Like Wild Beard said, it does accelerate slow and it lacks balls going uphill, but it sips diesel fuel. I've been in the 7 mpg range at 75 mph. Just depends on the lay of the land. My average mpg is about 6.2.

T680 vs Freightliner: kenworths acceleration is awful yes, The dashboard isn’t even a dashboard. Ya can’t move unless your air is over 100psi. Now theres some tight spots out there, im just saying. Turning radius is ahhh not that much of a difference but i much rather be in a freight through city traffic. The cruise is on the dash! Its so much easier to control your cruise speed in a freight. Almost if your playing a video game simple vs needing to keep reaching down to pressing the button on the dash. Thats about it, congrats you can go over 70. 😂

I used to have a T680 with a Paccar and a manual transmission. The MX13 was very impressive and gave me zero problems in the 2 years I had it. Your problem is you bought a shitty spec'd TransAm truck. You need to go to the dealer and pay for a programing fee and have them open it up. All of that sluggishness and deaccel you get while turning is transam dummy proofing with a rookie tune. Of course the auto isn't a manual so there's very little you can do there.
I wouldn't own another T680 only because the W990 is available. Same great cab and sleeper but the set forward axle and big hood is what I like. By the way, if your steering column rattles, do what I did. Open it up and put butyl strips on the inside of the shell.

I’ll tell u yes mud flaps are cheap. But in defense of kw. There number one changed item on trucks. 2 u bought an ex company truck bud. There spec that way for a reason. Most co drivers don’t pay attention and destroy them mainly backing thru holes n hitting curbs. With your flaps. Yes there annoying. But with rubber flaps. Turn them up as u show in vid. Flap will still hang down but end is 6 inches higher. Harder to catch on curbs. N further back from tire.. less damage. There good in that way especially for co drivers that don’t care. Your acceleration is a setting!!!! Is speced that way for a reason. High acceleration on snow ice rain with bobtail or empty trailer can cause tire spin. Again. U bought it from trans am. It speced for a company driver. U can have this changed. Though it may affect insurance. Note. Kw dealers will not wanna change it. It affects safety. Spin outs cause crashes. But private mechanics will gladly change it for u. It’s a ecm/pcm setting
