Kim I appreciate all your videos I thought my scanNcut SDX2225 was broken, The mat wouldn't load straight and when it finally did it wondered while cutting out my images destroying all of them. I followed your video on cleaning the scanNcut and it now works like a charm. My mat that wouldn't load got bent so I took a warm iron and a damp pressing cloth to it and it too works again. Thank you so much. I love crafting with you!
Feel all of you crafters pain! Oct. 2018 purchased the SDX125C from HSN. Was primary caregiver for my husband so pretty much a shut-in as was hard to get anyone to stay with hubby. Before machine even shipped hubby took a turn for the worst, confined to hospital bed. Long story short did not even unbox until after 1st of year when husband passed. One set up mat loaded fine 1st time but was only cutting thru paper on right side. Mat stopped loading or loaded crooked thereafter. Watched numerous videos, ordered new mat etc. Still couldn't get it to work. Being proficient with Cricut machines (have them all) thinking how hard can this machine be? And very flustered! April 2019 went to a 4 day retreat/workshop. Lady teaching was proficient with the SDX125C. Took machine, also had a 2nd machine there. Long story short..............mat that wouldn't load in mine worked perfect in other and dozen proficient users couldn't get my machine to work at all, was told to call brother for replacement. Went thru loop after loop with Brother. Brother finally told me my warranty (since purchased on HSN) would only repair no not replace, take to Brother Service cent for repair. Service center sid Brother would not accept returns from consumer only Service Centers and that the did not repair returned to Brother for repair or replacement and the would push for replacement. One week later called to come pick-up replacement. Replacement has worked like a dream right out of the box. Do not know where you all purchased, but a lot from HSN I'm sure. So if that be the case do not tarry in setting up your machine or if having problems get replaced ASAP. As commented the machines not cheap even on HSN.
Carol, first off, my condolences. It sounds like you had the run around but in the end, you have a machine that works like a dream. Maybe your hubby intervened from above to make your crafting experience happy. I actually purchased my machine right from Brother so I would think they would go out of their way to make sure that it works (or another one does). Working on it now.
Carol Lewis Prayers up for you in your loss. I know that it's not easy caring for sick loved ones. Just lost my dad Jan 4. Luckily I have two brothers that were caring for him and mom, as I live out of state. I also bought my machine from HSN and had mat issues AFTER I closed the little side door and one of the tools got stuck under the rollers. I took it out, but the machine never loaded the mat straight afterwards. I had to send it back for a replacement. The new one loads fine! Take care...xoxox
Oh thank you so much for the video. I wanted to buy this machine for my birthday in September. I think I stick with my old one. It works a treat. Never change a winning horse 🐴
Thank you soooooo much for doing these video's. I have search and search for good videos to learn how to use my SDX 125 and your video's have been the best. THANK YOU! Looking for more videos for the beginner.
Thanks Sheila, I am making more beginner tutorials now while my machine is behaving. If you hit the little bell under one of my videos, you can be notified when my new content is released. Thanks for your support of my channel.
At this time, I am recommending the CM50. That is the one that has been a workhorse for me. It works great right out of the box. ScanNCut2 CM350: amzn.to/2EcTuRF
Kim, thank you for all your videos! I've learnt so much about using my Scan and Cut CM350. Works like a dream. I wasn't really considering purchasing the newest model but seeing and hearing about all the hassles you've had I'm sticking with my CM350. I look forward to all of your videos. Happy crafting! xo
You are very welcome Ngaire. Good move. Stick with your current machine if it is working correctly. I know I will start having a better experience soon. It can only be an improvement once my replacement comes.
Good to hear! I am happy with my new mat and I am going to hurry up and record some tutorials while I can. I am going to stay optimistic and hope it keeps on working right. I "NEED" it to work correctly. Thanks for your comment and for your HOPE!
I know, right. It makes us feel better when others are in the same boat. I had no idea it would take so long to load today. It is not YOU. It is not US, the viewers. It is the machine. The mats should load. I look forward to many more cool projects using this machine.
Yes it was very cool to see that the new mat loaded for you the way I thought it was supposed to. And I’m now waiting to see what you can do with different projects.
Your vid is invaluable. I wish someone had made one of these (and I'd seen it) last year when the DX first came out. The thing is, Brother has had plenty of time to send the good mats to all of their suppliers to give with each new sale and they haven't done it. It's pretty rotten that the customers have to chase them up for mats that work all the time. That's really bad customer service. Thanks as always. Brother should be paying you! 🌺
Annette Po Hi...brother Australia said there is nothing wrong and told me I had used the mat a lot....um 15 times maybe...because the black marks on the top of the mat. I paid $750 plus also bought the rhinestone kit. No offer of assistance 😞😞😞🇦🇺
Annette, thanks for your comment. I actually bought this machine from BROTHER and they sent me a bad mat. Also, the entire reason I waited so long to get one was because of all of the issues with them. I wanted one before but my ScanNCut 2 or CM350 works great and I figured there was no rush. Then, I finally had some time this summer to play around with it and look what happened. I don't think Brother even knows I exist but I sure have influenced a LOT of purchases of the SNCs over the years.
Very sad for sure. The customer service here in the US is much better. Each person I call tries to help, even if they don't know how. They don't refuse to help me. I think that if you keep trying and ask to speak with a supervisor, you may finally end up with someone who can make a decision that will help you.
Wow, I just bought a CM350 and was wondering if I made the wrong decision and should have purchased the SDX125. I am so glad I bought the CM350 now that I see what you are going through. I also looked up other reviews and they are not good.
Yes, you made the right decision. Your CM350 most likely works right out of the box. I will continue to do tutorials on both machines. I am just trying to get my viewers started on the SDX125 machine if they have one which actually works. Now that my mat loads, I want to show others what they can do with it.
I have the 350 and LOVE it and have never for a second had any regrets buying it...I have no interest in buying the one she purchased above. When something works great , be happy with what you have.... I also own a SCAMEO AND CRICUT and BSC works to me the best of all the machines..
@@Skooterbird I don't blame you! My CM350 does work fine but just as my last upgrade, there are new features I thought would be great and they are when the machine works. I upgraded the first time to have wireless enabled and to have more built in patterns. I upgraded this time to have whisper quiet technology and autoblade technology. I'm glad you are happy with your machines.
If I were you would send back for replacement. Shouldn't settle for less than perfect working machine. Your tutorials have taught me a lot in using my machine even though you used an older machine. TY for sharing.
Carol, I am in the process of trying to send it back now. I was soooooo close. Just didn't seal the deal. I will call again tomorrow and hopefully my machine will be on its merry way. Thanks for your comment.
Kim, I just purchased my Scan n Cut CM 650 two weeks ago. I’ve never worked on them before, but after watching your videos, it inspired me to purchase one. I got it from a sewing store. It’s not a brand new one but a used one and I just love it. They had a class at sewing store how to draw on the card stock. After being at the class, I saw a lot of people have the new ones. I was thinking about upgrading and talked to the owner and she said that they would give me the value of what I paid for the 650 towards the new one. My question to you is I don’t know if I should do that being that I’m brand new to using the scan n cut. I don’t know if the new one would be be overwhelming for me or not. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thank you so much for sharing these videos and also I did enroll in the class you offer on line and love it.
Hi Lisa, I think that if you can wait, I would wait. If your machine is doing what you want it to do and it works fine, then stick with it. It is not that it is overwhelming. I will teach you all of the functions. I am even planning on developing new classes on this machine. It is just that they have not worked out all of the bugs yet in my opinion. You just got your machine. Master that first and they you will have an idea of what features you still want or need. Thanks for enrolling in my class!
Great, I am glad I am giving you the courage to start using it and I pray your mat loads on your first try. After it does, you can start cutting out patterns and stamped images right away.
Lucky you getting a new replacement...I was one of the first buying in Aus. Ordered and paid for it in Aug 2018. Arrived at my door Oct. Didn’t use it straight away. Brother Australia are saying I’ve used my mat too much..um 15 times maybe. My mat has not loaded since March. So disappointed ☹️ paying $750 for my first ever cutting machine. Cheers from Oz😜
Wow! Those machines are super expensive down under. My machine was half that. Still, it SHOULD work right. I guess the good thing is that I used it right away and found out that it didn't work. That is why I am on the verge of getting it replaced but I need to call again because right as the lady was typing in my information, her system went down. I think you should still keep on them about sending you a new mat. If you get the machine working right, it could be a dream come true instead of a nightmare.
Papered Chef Thanks for your reply...I love watching all your videos. I bought a new mat $50.00 Arrived this morning...It works a treat just like the original did but I hope it doesn’t happen again. Will keep watching 🇦🇺😉😌
@@lorettahealy1744 Wow, your mats are really expensive there. I have some resticking tips and I am trying a couple of new things to make mats last so look for those this summer.
Thank you so much about the information. I haven't taken mine out the box yet. I purchased my ScanNcut back in march on HSN. So I definitely need to test mine out too. Tfs! Hugs~Lisa😊💞
Thanks for watching. Definitely take it out of the box because certain return policies have limits. For example, Brother told me that my Replacement Warranty was for 90 days. After that, they may tell you to take it to a Service Center if something is wrong with it.
MsLITTLESCRAPPY , I got mine in March from HSN. It worked fine for about 30 times and then started the whole mat loading mat problem, I called Brother and they immediately sent out a new mat. So far so good.
Wow, thanks for this video!!! I almost asked for one of these for my birthday next month...thanks for saving me a lot of grief. I'll stick with my CM100!
Sonja, I have learned so much while trying to get my SDX125 to work correctly. I'm starting to like it more but still don't LOVE it. I can safely recommend both the CM350 and the SDX125 machines. However, I like the CM350 better because it consistently cuts the way that I want it to and the way that I expect it to without casting any spells or doing witchcraft.
Unbelievable that this STILL goes on. I purchased in Oct 2018 and had this problem after a few months. Then it was all about the update, and then a mat update, which worked after about 25 loads each time. Bottom line, I had to take to a authorized dealer repair shop (the machine was only 3 months old) and they couldn't figure it out and had my machine for about 6 weeks. Then Brother finally agreed to send me another mat (Mat #3 by this time). I was so frustrated but kept using the machine for the last year. After so much use, I finally decided to purchase a new mat to treat myself. I've had this "new" mat that I purchased from the dealer and it will not load! I counted the dots and it is "9" dots (2019) and then "1" dot, (Jan). Could this be another BAD MAT??? I mentioned it to the dealer but they don't have a clue either. When purchasing these mats, it is not like the store will let you open the packaging so you can count "dots". My other 2 mats had the blue sticker, but again - this new mat that I purchased in Jan 2020, is NOT loading! Anyone have ANY IDEAS? I honestly love my machine WHEN the mat loads, but sometimes I just want to throw it into my pool so it can just freeze to death. UGH!!!!! I miss my blue dot..... lol. PLEASE ANYONE HELP. Does Brother help me, or does the authorized dealer take care of me??? Papered Chef - thank you for helping me remember I am not crazy!!!
What I don't understand is why on Earth didn't they open up the boxes and take out the defective mats prior to shipping them out. Or, why not ask vendors, re-sellers and dealers to be proactive. It seemed like many problems could have been avoided. This video was a while back and my machine and mat is working now but after a while, no matter which mat I use, it just all of a sudden stops loading. So, it is hard to have both a sticky mat and one which loads at the same time. I feel your pain. I love my machines but hate the mats. You are not crazy. I know that Amazon allows you to return defective items and they will even create a shipping label for you to make it back. My advice is to get a mat from Amazon with DX in the title. If it doesn't load, return it. Here is the mat I use and I go through mats like water. I have gone through about 50 mats on my 3 machines. amzn.to/2LqUzHY
You did a fantastic job on this video. I’m glad you stuck it out to show how long it took. I need to have a friend of mine that got this machine for Christmas and has had no luck with it, watch it and order a new mat. She actually doesn’t do much research or watching uTube so has seen no other comparisons. I still love my 350 and 650 and have no desire to have the DX. I can handle the noise they make. Keep posting all the great videos. I’m gonna make sure my girlfriend watches and subscribes to your channel.
Thanks Pat. Yes, the sooner the better as far as when people call Brother. If too much time passes, they machine's warranty may expire. I actually have a replacement on the way do to two other issues I still have even after getting the mat to work. Thanks for sharing my channel and you can keep following along with my tutorials using any model. You can easily cut out the cows I showed if you have the Over the Moon set. They are as easy to cut out as This Little Piggy was.
Thank you for sharing this. This seems to be a real issue with this new machine. I just watched a video with Jen Blausey where she shows her troubles with the loading of mats. Her problems startet after a couple of thousand loadings and she is convinced it is a problem with the machine and not the mats. But unfortunately BROTHER does not react. So... as I wanted to buy a newer model ... I am completely confused. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO.
In this case, Brother was helpful and sent me a new mat. It worked right away and I’ve been using it ever since. I actually started to like my SDX125. It is making my life easier and it is very quiet as compared to my CM350. I hope you will check out my follow up videos so you can be encouraged.
Have you used the 12x24inc matt for this machine? My machine will not read the 24 inch mat and I also noticed that the markings on the 12inch and the 24 inch are different. This mat has a setting for the 24 inch mat which i did engage before trying to use it.
Oh yes Amanda, I have used a 24" mat. You need to change the cutting area settings to use it properly. Be sure to use the type for the SDX machine. It has a diamond shaped hole in it. Here is the link. amzn.to/388IpTw
Thanks yes, my mat did the same and I took back to the store where I purchased it and they told me I wore it out so they sold me a new one $$$. I’m going to call Brother and hopefully get a new one. I tried my other mats and they work fine.
Papered Chef The first lady I spoke to said I had missed the deadline which was July 1. I tried to wheedle a mat out of her but no go! Later in the day I had another question or two so I mentioned that the other lady was not going to send me a mat, and she said, oh we have found a way around that so I will send you one. LOL
Thanks for the update. There is always a way to help customers. Deadline or not, they need to fix issues as they arise. Some people buy things and don't take them out of the box right away. That is the case for many people commenting here.
My machine/mat is doing the same thing. I received mine May 10. I had no problems until I went through tech support regarding the uneven offset. They said my mat is OK. I wonder if it is the 1.20 update. So strange that I used it for 7 weeks with no problems.
Thanks for the comment which makes me think. Although my alignment was off both before and after the update but that was when my mat didn't work at all. There are so many variables at play. I just don't want to have to align the machine every single time that I move it a couple of inches. That is getting old.
Papered Chef It could be they were manufactured at the same time. I hope Brother gets everything worked out. I love(d) my DX 125. So sad it crashed so soon and Brother takes limited responsibility. The other kicker is dismissive customer support, both Brother and the authorized dealer. Hopefully I will get my machine back in working order soon. 😕
I've been lucky in that the tech support knows me now. They call back and act like we are long, lost friends because I have called so many times. I hope your machine lives up to your expectations.
My mat probably loads effortlessly one in every dozen attempts. Which is insane. So much effort just to load the mat. And then I purchased a new mat and guess what? The machine doesn’t recognise it even though it was a mat for the Brother Scan n Cut. Brother should be ashamed of themselves for selling a machine that costs hundreds of dollars with such basic glitches. Until now I had always trusted the Brother brand.
I have this same problem with my SDX225. I also set my timer for 4 hours. When I place my mat up against the rollers, my rollers won’t turn. If I pull the mat back just a little and wait for the rollers to go faster I can usually hurry and place both hands onto the sticky part of the mat and then push the mat up to the rollers while they are still rolling and it usually will take the mat in. This is very frustrating!
I admire your patience. I’m afraid Cricut machines were developed without sufficient trials and Brother is following suit. To ship defective goods is no recommendation for the company concerned and you have highlighted problems that really should not be an issue after the second machine release never mind an all singing expensive release. I do own one, but am not inspired by this latest problematic machine. New style mats just add to the expense, and was it really necessary to design a new mat? Good luck with your return of this machine and hopefully the replacement will do exactly what you expect it to do. I’m sure your viewers will greatly appreciate your stalwart efforts.
Thanks Cecielia, that is an interesting spelling of your name. The patience in this video pales in comparison to speaking with people on the phone who obviously don’t have the machine in front of them. They are so nice but they are reading from a script. I’m like “Yes, I tried that...” I agree about the premature release of this model.
I know, right. This is nuts! I am working on trying to return it. Tomorrow is Monday so I will call again. It is like Groundhog Day each weekday as I call Brother Tech Support.
Hi Kim. I purchased this machine but the mat keeps pulling in crooked. I bought a new mat and it still does it. I called brother they wanted me to take it their authorized repair place which I'd a 2 hour drive away. They wouldn't keep and use my mat. After a week they said it works fine. I got it home and it's still doing. I checked the date on the new mat and it was made in 2019. Any suggestion on what to do?
Hi, I have my SDX125 is doing the same the wheels are not turning and the mat is not loading thank you for this video I thought I was the only one going through the same I need to call Brother do I need a new machine if the wheels are not turning? I've tried everything
Definitely call Brother because they can help you troubleshoot. I no longer have this problem. My mats load on all of my machines. Brother Support has helped me in the past.
@@PaperedChef was your problem the mat? I'm going to buy a new mat before I take it in for repair and see if maybe it can be the mat giving me this problem 😁👍
@@encarnacionada2 A few years ago, there were batches of mats which were defective. They resolved the issue now. I had mat issues and issues with my machine. Both were resolved.
HI, I ORDERED A NEW MAT AND IT'S WORKING GOOD AS NEW, IT WASN'T THE MACHINE, IT WAS THE MAT THAT WAS NOT REGISTERING CAUSE IT WAS SO USED UP SO MUCH THAT I USED IT CLEANED IT USED IT THE MAT WAS REALLY WAISTED. THANK GOD IT WAS THE MAT YAYYYY I WILL BE BUYING ANOTHER ONE TO HAVE IT WHEN THIS NEW MAT GETS WAISTED.
Wise choice. I think the cheaper models actually work better at this point. I know that it is MY machine but that is what I am going off of for now. Here is hoping that your new machine works perfectly right out of the box. Thanks for your comment.
Papered Chef is there much difference between models ? You had the cm 300 and the one in the shop is cm900 is there a lot of difference between the functions it has?
@@anidemjess5875 Yes, there are differences between models which is why I'm on my third machine. With each new upgrade, I get about 10 new features of which, I only need about half of those. There are usually just a couple of reasons why I upgrade each time. At this moment, I am recommending the ScanNCut 2 because that is my machine which is working the best right now. ScanNCut2 CM350: amzn.to/2EcTuRF
Thanks for your reply I orderd the low tack version and my machine would not accept the mat even though I changed the settings on my machine to 12x24 . I noticed that the markings on the mat are not the same for the12x12 mat. Im in Canada and I contaced Brother the specialist sent me a screen shot showing that the 125e did not have scanning capability. How did you get your mat to work? Please explain I would realy appreciate it. Thank you. The mat I am trying to use is the 12x24 CADMATLOW24
I’m starting to like my SDX125 but I still don’t love it. Good idea to wait a while. I waited for bugs to be worked out and didn’t wait long enough. Still, I’m getting through it. One issue at a time and it is getting easier.
After app 11 months using my standard tack mat with my sdx 225, & having no loading issues, I can't get it to load. I had never used the low tack mat so I got it out & have no problems loading it so far. I had never used the scanning mat either & it wont load. I don't understand why the scanning mat won't. It has never been used. Pls help
Becky, that is good you were able to make it this long. Be sure that the mat is for the correct model. A Scanning Mat for the CM models will not load with the SDX models. Also, wipe the rollers with a baby wipe and get the smudges off of the top of your mat. Try loading at different angles. I have also heard of people sanding the top of their mats to give them a better grip but I have never been that desperate. Be sure to call Brother because you could also have a defective mat. They sent me a replacement mat which loaded like a charm.
Scanner lever is to stay in position 2 when ‘cutting or drawing ‘. Position 1 is for: scanning for cutting-direct cut, creating cut data-scan to cut data, scanning images-scan to usb. As per brother site.
Diane, yes Lever 2 is for thick materials and drawing. It lifts the scanner plate out of the way. The only reason I used it is because the machine told me to. It was getting caught on the edge of the card stock. I was just doing what it said to move onto the next step. I put it back to position 1 already. I cut out the same card stock earlier today in position 1.
Papered Chef This is from Brother: Scanner Height Position Lever The ScanNCut DX machine has 2 positions for the built-in scanner. Position 1 (lower position) is used when scanning thin materials, photographs, and like items for a better-quality scan. Position 2 raises the scanner glass higher to scan thicker materials such as 3mm foam and for TYPICAL CUTTING and drawing. Just trying to help🤗
You go girl! You sound like the manual. Thanks. I have only had it in position 1 for the most part except for when it gave me messages to switch to 2. That was only when the paper was getting stuck or eaten up, causing it to seem thicker than it was.
My mat is doing the same thing. I went to your channel to see if you have the same issues. What’s the best course of action to take? Call Brother? Thanks
Oh yes Candy, I've called them a lot. If your machine is new and your mat doesn't load, call Brother. If your mat stops loading after it has been working for months, it is time to give up and get another mat. SDX125 - Cutting Mat amzn.to/2YU3NS3
Do you mean you wish I would push the mat? Trust me, I was pushing it. The NEW mat loaded two times in a row. I will be doing some basic tutorials now and so you will see me load the mat again and again. If it stops working, my viewers will know. In fact, I will keep a little tally sheet to keep track.
@@doloresbennett1755 Oh I get it! Yes, but then after I didn't want to push my luck, the darn thing unloaded. I am keeping a tally now of how long it works and I have a new project tutorial coming today so crossing fingers that it will keep consistently loading.
I do wonder about the scanncut because I have seen you do several videos where you show the bad things and that you have said you had gotten dud machines. I just had to send back my first one because it had corrupted data and would not let me hookup to my computer. Beginning to think it’s not worth that much money.
I should clarify that I am sending it back for a replacement, not to get rid of it. I actually like it. Well, right now it is a LOVE-HATE relationship. Still, I am only recommending the CM350 at this point in time. Until the newer model works as well or better, it can't get my backing. Here is the link to the one I recommend. ScanNCut2 CM350: amzn.to/2EcTuRF
I have the mat with 9 dots on the right and it is giving me such a hard time it's inpossible to work with this machine l have a break down trying to load it every time
It just does not make sense to me that I cant use the 12x24 if the option to select the mat is in the machine and it has an option to cut borders and to be able to enlarge objects.
The mat probably didn't load straight. It may have a buckle in it. Loosen the lever and straighten it out. Then, also make sure your rollers are locked so it doesn't slip.
@@PaperedChef thanks, I had to buy another mat. It was loading straight, everything locked, just a mystery. The service person couldn't figure out, anyway, the new one works fine, I just hope this doesnt happen again because these mats are expensive!! And like you, I make ScanNCut tutorials. Thank your for your time.
I purchased my DX 125 on Amazon May 10. Troubles started 7 weeks in. Can’t return due to 30 day return policy. If local authorized dealer can’t fix I will have to return to Brother at my expense. I am not happy.
Well let's just hope that your local authorized dealer has the training and is able to fix it. Seems like they should have a lot of practice by now. Don't give up hope. Look how far I have come in just a week.
Cathie OK Both Brother and the authorized dealer said my mat is not faulty. They will not replace. In the mean time I am without a machine as it is “in the shop”. Up to 10 days. 😕
I did get a new mat which is working like a charm. Still, I have other issues and that is why the machine is going back. I will be getting another one as a replacement so hopefully, it will work out of the starting gate....
Do you have a cut out diamond in the mat? If so, that is a DX mat. CM mats load both ways. Here are links to the mats. Be sure to call Brother because there are so many mat loading issues. CM Cutting Mat: amzn.to/32g9yi8 SDX Cutting Mat: amzn.to/2CzbDuV
I didn't try it because Brother said the mats are not inter-changeable. Still, I am curious and will try it sometime. If nothing else, I can cut the inside of the mat off and mount it onto the ScanNCut 2 mat which lost its stick. LOL.
@@PaperedChef Do you have a tutorial on how to do this? I think I heard you say before that you did this with a Cricut mat for some reason. Maybe the Cricut mats stick better?
@@PaperedChef I called.. they told me I had to update the machine they also told me the Matt is bad but that the new one wont work unless I upgrade the freaking machine ughhh
Maybe just a firmware update will do the trick. Also, once the mat finally loads, keep changing the paper without removing the mat. That is what I had to do. I had to leave the mat it to cut patterns because I knew if I took it out, it would take forever to load again.
My mat has 8/6 dots. Think I bought it in 11/18. I've been able to cut a few labels & tags but it was starting to load wrong...too fast on the right. I even shut it off, thinking to reset it might help...no. Today it isn't loading at all. I think the left isn't rolling correctly. I believe it is the machine, not the mat...because it doesn't seem to be turning consistently. Once in awhile it will sound like it is trying but not again. I have to find my paperwork and call them. There should not be this much trouble!! I think they need to send us new machines!
I think you should definitely call them. They need to document these issues. They can point you in the right direction and make sure your firmware is updated. My rollers kept rolling and nothing was happening until I got a new mat.
Susana, I am sorry but I don't have any translations on my videos. I hope you can look at the settings listed in the video description. Then, you can apply those settings to your machine. Thanks for watching.
Nancie, that is a good thing because the mats with the blue dots are the newer mats. They actually load correctly according to many users who were sent new mats. Does your mat load smoothly?
Papered Chef Yes my mat that came with the machine works but have issues removing paper once cut as the mat is so sticking. The mat that I have had the problems with is low tack mat that I bought on line from a Brother dealer. Any hints or n reducing the tacky on my original mat? I keep forgetting to log into your classes!! I enjoy you’re uTube vedios so much. You are a good teacher!
Thanks Nancie, You "too sticky" mat will not last long. One way to reduce the sticky is just to use the mat as a lint remover. Stick it to your clothes and then it will not stick very much. The projects in the online courses at Udemy.com are different than the ones here so I hope you check out those videos too. Thanks for your comment about my teaching. Makes me feel good.
thank you so much for your video, im so frustrated with the mat, i called brother so many times they send me 2 mats, but they were made in 2017 because the dots are 7 and 5 7-6 im so tired of this
@@PaperedChef yes, i bought some from allbrands.com they are one of the first ones, you have no idea how many times i wanted to buy the 350 again, i gave it to my cusing i just not like the problem with the mats. thank you so much for your videos and teaching, i hope you wont return the dx so i can learn from you. have an awesome day
Oh I wanted to clarify that I am only returning it to get a replacement for it. I'm not returning it to get rid of it. I know that if my machine works as it should, it has great potential.
I am happy totally with my BSC 2 and see no reason for buying this new one you got. May I ask what does this one do that is worth the purchase over your other one.? Many companies find faults in manufacturing issues after they are being sold, not just crafting machines, but even buying a brand new car they also have recalls... I have spoken to customer service with regards to my SCameo , Cricut and my BSC and they have all been amazing in helping me solve any issues I have had...My BSC 350 to me is my number one machine I have purchased and as for any machine not working great out of the box....lets be real things happen. Good thing is, companies will help you to resolve the issues or just give you a new replacement. Even I bought a brand new cricut and it would not even turn on, no power went to the machine at all, and no it was not a plug issue. Not a problen they sent me a brand new machine and a return shipping label to return the defective one at their cost.....And you said the mat alone was defective and BSC sent you a replacement.... You should have just tested the new mat right away instead of trying other things to see if you could make it work...You new it was defective... And again as I said in one other post to you...Maybe you should start to read the instructions that come with what you buy. As some companies will not even honor a warranty if you make a mistake due to not following their manual and reading the operating instructions.. I say it as I see it , so sorry if you do not agree with me on some points...pat
Hi Pat, I just saw your comment and wanted to follow up. Brother replaced my mat and it loaded. They also replaced my entire machine as well. It was nothing I did or any issue with the instructions. I know how to use the machine and how to set it up and this one was my 3rd ScanNCut. It just didn't work correctly. I like my replacement but I don't "love" it like my ScanNCut 2. It does a lot more with Scan to Cut data, cuts thicker materials, is quiet, has an auto blade, is faster and has more built in patterns. I use it all of the time and I even have more than one Scan N Cut going at the same time in my house so I'm glad I purchased it.
Your white grip is UP. see on the right side of your SDX1200 The white thing is UP... click it down. You have set it for vinyl through put for the vinyl. Click it back down with the cog back in it's right place. The black cog will move. CLICK THE WHITE THING TO YOUR RIGHT DOWN. (o:
Here is a tutorial I did a while back on connecting the CM350 wirelessly. For that machine, you need the wireless activation card. For the SDX, it is wireless ready so you can skip the step about the card. th-cam.com/video/Mlkyr59u9kw/w-d-xo.html
You were still a hair off on the right side. But, as you say, you can live with it and since you can not adjust it yourself, guess you'll have to. Although, it does ask you if the right side is okay so maybe you should say no or retry or whatever it asks.
I have aligned it about 20 times already but yes, with this new mat, it doesn’t hurt to try again. I’m curious to see if it will EVER align perfectly. Brother and I are on the verge of a machine exchange. They even entered all of my information but then their system went down before I could get a confirmation. That is due to my other issues like not getting wireless to work.
At the price of this machine, one should not have to play games to make it work. Send it back. By this time , Cricut would have had this replaced. I know from experience, at least the customer service I had there paid off unlike Brother. This is why I am keeping my 350.
I don't blame you for keeping your CM350. I am using both right now. The ScanNCut 2 is a work horse. I have never had any problems with it. I use it almost every day. Brother Tech Support is trying to help me. I was on the verge of getting a replacement when their system went down.
Yes, please call. That reminds me that I should put the tech support number on the description. Your mat will get crunched up and ruined if it doesn’t load right.
I was on the verge of sending it back. They had elevated my issues, nobody could solve them and I even gave them my credit card for a confirmation or guarantee that I would return my defective machine. Then, right as the lady was entering my shipping info, she was like “sorry, our system just went down.” Then, the weekend was upon me. I will be calling again tomorrow. Tech Support and I are practically on a first name basis.
My mat will load but the machine says it isn't recognized. I had been cutting all day and loaded a new piece of work and that is when the "won't recognize issue comes on. What now?
You have to keep trying until it eventually loads. There is no way to fix it. You can call Brother Tech Support because they may be able to help you as well.
@@PaperedChef Oh, it loaded just fine, it just would say "mat not recognized".I found a video that talked about the scanner not registering and how to open the DX125 to clean the scanner. That is what it was, a piece of tape on the scanner. During the process I learned all the dots on the bottom of the mat and what they meant. It's working just fine now but thank you for answering. I've taken quite a few of your Udemny classes and wonder if there is an outline of what is in each course? I was looking for the lesson on how to put stitching into a box and couldn't find it right off the bat, finally found where I'd made a stitched square with you in Canvas Workspace and downloaded that and multiplied it to a sheet of 12x12. Thanks again.
Cindy McCool Glad it’s working. I also have a video on cleaning your scanner plate which we all must do once in a while. I created a few PDF handouts for my Card Making with the Brother ScanNCut course. We do stitching in there but my handouts are more about the overall measurements. It is a video based course and there is no way to explain how to do it on paper as effectively as I can teach it on video.
Oh yes! I read all of the comments as soon as I find them. Thanks for that tip. I will try it will my next troublesome mat. I had Brother replace the mat in this video. It was defective. I never took my video down because I want others to know that they are not alone and that there is hope. My machine is working pretty good now.
Maybe it is not the machine but the texture or lack of of the mat. Just too slick for the rollers. That means the correction from the company should be PAPER and not mechanics. Ask them about that. THEN tell them to send a new one.
The new mat is working (crossing fingers). Yes, I think the rollers are too slick for sure. I'm on the verge of getting a machine replacement. I am going to be able to do so much with it if it decides to work right out of the box.
Good move Patricia. I can't blame you. I am so glad that I kept my CM350 even after a friend and Stampin' Up! team member offerd to purchase it from me.
It is not just loading the mat...it’s been a big disappointment and way too much time. From the scan n cut canvas workspace on my IPad to the worthless rhinestone kit and the whole machine. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
Gosh, you gave me a fright. At 3 minutes 11 seconds into your video you said you probably are going to send your machine back! Oh no; you were going to be my go-to person once you got the ins and outs of your SDX. To Ms. LITTLESCRAPPY, I got my DX from HSN in March too. I have never (knock on wood) had any issues with my mat. It has the 8 dots on the left and 7 on the right and no blue dot and it works fine. I don't have to do anything special to feed it in other than to make sure it is against the right side of the tray where you feed it I don't shove it in I just lay it down and rest it against the rollers and press the icon for load the mat. Kim, while you were going on about the mat, I stamped a Party Panda and used my DX to cut out and I did notice it is very sensitive. I know how you say to keep your whole image sometimes you have to use a pencil to connect some of the lines to keep your image continuous. I had to look carefully but there was a little break in where the panda was holding the string on the balloon. So viewers beware of that if some objects get separated from your image that you want all together.
Thanks for your comment and helpful tips for other viewers. Not to worry, when I say send it back, I mean for a replacement. I am not giving up. I have big plans for this machine. Or, should I say for this model of machine. Yes, I did a tutorial in the little pandas last year and once in a while, I try to show the lines. I connect them using my pencil trick. I think it is time to show this again but with a current stamp set. th-cam.com/video/XcaN_mvLBR8/w-d-xo.html
@@PaperedChef LOL! I'm always late to the party. If I had seen the Party Panda YT I would have known about the balloons already! I'll get caught up eventually on your YT's.
Nola Ventura It’s never too late to join the Party Pandas. I’m glad you have become such a super user with the ScanNCut that you are sharing tips with others.
Well, I feel your pain. You are not alone. Try updating your firmware and calling Brother. I put their number in the description. Now that my mat is loading, I am going to hurry up and make some tutorials while it is working. Crossing fingers.
My mats go in crooked when they do load but most of the time the little wheels dont even spin it has worn rough places on the back of the top of my mats when they catch crooked
Bekki White Another mystery to be solved. The only good thing is that after you press load, it pauses a couple of seconds before it loads. This gives you a chance to put your hand there. The CM350 sucked the mat in quickly.
For this video, I tend to agree. I hope you will check out my other videos. I had NO EARTHLY idea it would take my mat so long to load when I started out on this endeavor. I was keeping it real and showing my viewers what actually happened. Nobody was as surprised as I was.
So, no big deal - no one like EVERY video - they just move on. No reason to have to make a snarly comment. Most seemed to have related to Kim’s problems and liked reading what others did about it.
Thanks Pat, I always get right to the point in my videos but in this case, this is what really happened. It didn't work. I thought it was important to show my entire journey with this machine....the good, the bad and the ugly.
Thank you!!! Mine does this too and it’s SO frustrating! I’m ordering a new mat and hoping it will work!
I'm glad you were able to "fix" it up and get your machine working correctly again.
Hi! I just bought a BROTHER SDX 125 inspired by your channel. I will continue to follow you and I hope to learn a lot from you. Thank you!
Awesome! I hope I will see you in my online courses after you get started on your machine. Happy Holidays to you.
Carol Lewis I’m sorry for your loss.
I was trying to invest in a third winning horse like my first two. It was not to be. Thanks for watching.
I'm happy to see the new mat works. I will be thinking about buying the ScanNCut now.
At this time, I am recommending the CM50. That is the one that has been a workhorse for me. It works great right out of the box. ScanNCut2 CM350: amzn.to/2EcTuRF
Dee Dee , after I got the new mat, it works perfectly. I am really enjoying it's features.
Thank for this I just mine back from brother, and it's doing same thing
I'm calling again tomarrow
Brother Customer Support helped me out a lot. I hope they help you.
@@PaperedChef i have been talking to them is there any way you can email me its personal abt brother I don't really want to put it out there ty
I had the same issue and called Brother and they sent me a new mat. Now it works great!
Good to hear! I am happy with my new mat and I am going to hurry up and record some tutorials while I can. I am going to stay optimistic and hope it keeps on working right. I "NEED" it to work correctly. Thanks for your comment and for your HOPE!
So thankful (sorry) that an expert like you with mat loading this type of machine cannot get this one to work. I really thought I was a big dummy!!
Oh there is much, much more to come. I haven't even started to show you what the machine can do so please stay tuned.
Annette Po, I agree that Brother was really in the wrong here. I did get a new mat, but it was very frustrating.
Kimberly B, after I got the new mat, all is for me.
Cathie OK Glad to know! I’m warming up to my beast of a machine little by little.
@@PaperedChef Be persistent in calling, took almost 2 months before referred to Service center. Only received replacement in June.
Yay! My DX is still in the box because I heard so many horror stories. Now I have the courage to set mine up! Thank you!
However, I like the CM350 better because it consistently cuts the way that I want it to and the way that I expect it to without casting any spells or doing witchcraft.
happy birth day
thanks
Thanks Anita. Glad you followed up and that you have a new one. Brother has good tech support. I hope they help you.
Thanks, Kim, my new mat arrives this week! I love my machine!
Awesome. Did Brother send you one? I hope it works like a charm like my new mat did. Well, as far as loading. Still working on the alignment.
Received my SNC DX 125, that is.
Thanks for the comment which makes me think. Although my alignment was off both before and after the update but that was when my mat didn't work at all. There are so many variables at play. I just don't want to have to align the machine every single time that I move it a couple of inches. That is getting old.
Sounds like our machines both came from the same "batch."
Papered Chef
It could be they were manufactured at the same time.
I've just bought a sdx1200 cut machine and am already having loading issues. Not happy!
My older mats have trouble once in a while but for the most part, my mats load now. Hang in there!
Omg Kim, I have never had this much of a problem! I would box that up and send it right back for a replacement!
I am having this problem in December 2021 with a mat apparently made in February 2020 (10 dots on left, 2 on right).
@@PaperedChef where is the the place to buy these 12x12 mats
The CM900 retails at 460€ where I live & the one you have their is 599€!
I am going to buy the CM 900 tomorrow’s 😆😘
Thanks for keeping it real.
You bet! That's how I roll.
I got the CM350 bc of the mat issue with the DX. I so wanted the DX. Maybe after I get good on the CM350 😁 thanks for sharing!
Papered Chef This is from Brother:
Scanner Height Position Lever The ScanNCut DX machine has 2 positions for the built-in scanner.
SDX125 - Cutting Mat

I orderd the standard mat and Im thinking of returning it if the machine wont accept it. Can you please help. Thanks
Kim I wish you would push it while we are on here. Just because the first one loaded will the rest do it as well?
Do you mean you wish I would push the mat? Trust me, I was pushing it. The NEW mat loaded two times in a row. I will be doing some basic tutorials now and so you will see me load the mat again and again. If it stops working, my viewers will know. In fact, I will keep a little tally sheet to keep track.
What I meant was push the issue not the mat. You said you didn't want to push your luck by unloading. I suggested you do just the opposite. lol
I am thinking of buying this machine but if you are sending your back do you think I should buy the previous machine?
I should clarify that I am sending it back for a replacement, not to get rid of it. I actually like it. Well, right now it is a LOVE-HATE relationship. Still, I am only recommending the CM350 at this point in time. Until the newer model works as well or better, it can't get my backing. Here is the link to the one I recommend. ScanNCut2 CM350: amzn.to/2EcTuRF
Mine wouldn't cut the cardstock either till I changed the blade pressure from 0 to 1...so increase it to see if it has trouble with the cardstock.
I think you will be happier with it over time as each issue is resolved.
I have the mat with 9 dots on the right and it is giving me such a hard time it's inpossible to work with this machine l have a break down trying to load it every time
Oh yes, the dreaded mat loading issues. I feel your pain. Brother did replace my defective mat but it was still very frustrating.
It just does not make sense to me that I cant use the 12x24 if the option to select the mat is in the machine and it has an option to cut borders and to be able to enlarge objects.
My mat loads but when it starts cutting the mat moves! Do you know how to fix that?
Patty H , I would try getting the new mat before I thought it was the whole machine.
Cathie OK
Both Brother and the authorized dealer said my mat is not faulty.
Think of your machine as taking a trip to the spa where it will get rejuvenated and come back working just like new.
I have a brother cm100 and my mat keeps saying its not loaded right i have 9 dots on the one side and 5 dots on the other side
Do you have a cut out diamond in the mat? If so, that is a DX mat. CM mats load both ways. Here are links to the mats. Be sure to call Brother because there are so many mat loading issues.

Did that new (defective) mat work on your old machine--the S&C2?
I didn't try it because Brother said the mats are not inter-changeable. Still, I am curious and will try it sometime. If nothing else, I can cut the inside of the mat off and mount it onto the ScanNCut 2 mat which lost its stick. LOL.
@@PaperedChef Do you have a tutorial on how to do this? I think I heard you say before that you did this with a Cricut mat for some reason. Maybe the Cricut mats stick better?
Omg my Matt goes in crooked all the time and I have to kinda pull out off .. sometimes it works most of the time it doesnt
Wanda, if you don't catch it quick, the mat is a goner. Sorry you are going through the same thing! Hopefully, we can ALL get to the bottom of this.
Wandy's Sweets, count your dots and call Brother!
Hi, I'm from Chile. i do not know how to speak English. I have this problem. what should i do? can you tell me ? in simple words to translate please
Susana, I am sorry but I don't have any translations on my videos. I hope you can look at the settings listed in the video description. Then, you can apply those settings to your machine. Thanks for watching.
I have a mat with the blue dot. What does the dot mean? Thanks
Makes me feel good.
thank you so much for your video, im so frustrated with the mat, i called brother so many times they send me 2 mats, but they were made in 2017 because the dots are 7 and 5 7-6 im so tired of this
Wow, those mats are really old. You would think that they only keep the "good" mats in their warehouse. Keep on trying until you get a mat that works.

I see this video is 2 years old, but I am having the same issue NOW!
In my opinion. it is NOT the mat that is at fault. It is the machine that is at fault. I have the SDX1200 and that is the same, even with a new mat.
the black scan n cut mat, the one for only scanning will not load
Well that is a shame. Did you contact Brother? I think I only used that kind of mat once and then ended up using it as a cutting mat.
This is whatI am experiencing loading the mat. It is frustrating and really tire
I forgot to say...I have the DX225.
Very similar to mine except that your model has many more bells and whistles.
How do I connect my scan and cut to wifi?
Okay, next time tell the machine the right side is a "no" and let them try again. The left side is okay. Just work on the right a tiny bit.
@@doloresbennett1755 They don't let me pick sides but I will tell them NO before my next video. I want my stamps to cut out perfectly. We ALL do!
Mine goes in crooked a lot I am calling tomorrow!
Yes, please call. That reminds me that I should put the tech support number on the description. Your mat will get crunched up and ruined if it doesn’t load right.
Oooooh, noooo Kim send that darn thing back , don’t you hate that, 😢
I was on the verge of sending it back.
Guess I am making too many comments and driving you nuts answering them. Well, no need to but it is nice providing I am NOT pushing it...lol
Not at all. I love when viewers interact with my videos. Again, this is one where things didn't turn out at all like I expected them too.
@@PaperedChef I took that course but couldn't find the instructions when I went looking. Very helpful however, when I found it.
I don't know if you read these but my mat wouldn't read my mat so I put scotch tape over the mark's at the top and it loaded
I am going to be able to do so much with it if it decides to work right out of the box.
defective! why fight it? send it back. I think the problem is the thickness of the matt is defective.
Oh yes, I sure did call Tech Support. The problem has long since been resolved but if it happens to others, I shared how I resolved it as a follow up.
I have a CM350 and will not change machine.
Good move Patricia. I can't blame you. I am so glad that I kept my CM350 even after a friend and Stampin' Up! team member offerd to purchase it from me.
so you say it s not the kind to buy
It is not just loading the mat...it’s been a big disappointment and way too much time. From the scan n cut canvas workspace on my IPad to the worthless rhinestone kit and the whole machine. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
The mat isn’t my issue...it’s everything else.

My mats go in crooked when they do load but most of the time the little wheels dont even spin it has worn rough places on the back of the top of my mats when they catch crooked
@@bekkiwhite6891 Yikes, if the wheels don't spin, how will your mat ever load?
That what I dont understand sometimes they spin and sometimes they don't...I dont know why
Bekki White Another mystery to be solved. The only good thing is that after you press load, it pauses a couple of seconds before it loads. This gives you a chance to put your hand there. The CM350 sucked the mat in quickly.
Good info, but too much chit chat.
For this video, I tend to agree. I hope you will check out my other videos. I had NO EARTHLY idea it would take my mat so long to load when I started out on this endeavor. I was keeping it real and showing my viewers what actually happened. Nobody was as surprised as I was.
20 min of waisted time.
Get real! I wont watch again
