I really like that as a righty, you demonstrated using both wings. I’m a left wing righty so it’s good to see breakout details for an off-winger. Thanks 🙏
i play center but my wingers are having trouble getting the puck out and same with the defense they panick and just shoot it (not hard eather) are they any drills or anything I can do to get the strain off myself because I usually end up having to get the puck out myself
i'm a defense men and i think this is great and the best one is to pass to the center because it makes Dmen hezatate because usually its a bank off the boards
at 6:45 when you catch the puck on your backhand along the boards... probably not the best thing to do. I'm a d, and I love it when a forward has a puck along the boards, because I know I can easily pinch and have it back in
it's a good play to use if you have lots of time.. but i couldn't agree more, you should open up to the play so that you can see what is happening around you.
100% - that play is only for aware, heads up players. You have to look up ice, read the pressure and see what's coming. That is an advanced play and would exercise caution teaching that to younger age groups.
How many NHL'ers are going to go down with concussions from "protecting the puck" before these high profile coaches and trainers realize we have to stop teaching kids its ok to turn your back at the last second to "protect the puck"? Other than that video is pretty good.
were having trouble in comp A here. Im quite fluent with this breakout play but can anyone tell me if theres a forward forechecking my defenseman whos tryna make a pass to me below the goal line and the direct pass option to me (right winger) is not there anymore, how should I place myself then? where and what should I do to help my D to get it out of our zone? Thanks in advance :p
Get to the boards as the defenceman will likely chip it along to make the safe play as the direct pass isn't available. Communication is key, talk to him and tell him to chip it to you. 7 years ago wow.
Great vid. Kinda ran off the ice in the last 10 seconds there.......OK Thanks was watching *******US that's what I heard at the end....lol Good instruction though and every option.
you likely wouldn't protect the puck on a breakout like this. all of your team mates are out of the zone, or going to be. and the quick turn opens you up for a hit from behind.
Yes yes with turning around u put urself in a position to get hit from behind and they may get a penalty but I just see more injury's when not facing a hit.Turning at the last minute is kinda a wuzzy move.
A few of these tips I agree with and learned something new, but if you listen word for word what this guy has to say you're gonna get your bell rung and hit from behind. Use some common sense...
Stupid stupid stupid. The first part is correct but the hold puck and take the hit may be a little strange but to each there own.I like to face my hits.
hockey decision making is as simple as tic tac toe...if you need to watch videos about how to exit the zone effectively and safely you need mental help. and to all those retarded defense-man (in name only) who like to make blind passes out the corners...keep it up! next video will probably be about getting the puck in deep and not making fancy moves at the blue line....seriously, it's like watching someone make videos about how to wipe their ass.
And yet you do have to teach a child how to wipe his ass... Some folks haven't played hockey, haven't played in a long time, or perhaps haven't played at any competitive level. These videos are helpful to them. If it's not helpful to you, you can simply move on without having to belittle them or the group who took the time to create and share the video. Relax.
Outstanding demonstration of the wingers responsibility on the breakout. Love the points on puck protection. Great video.

Thank you! I'm play left wing and I have a really hard time getting the puck out and this video really helped me out.
New hockey dad here. This helped. My kid U9 playing wing.
Will show him.
Thx!
This is really helpful. I didn't do a good job at this last week. I've watched this a couple of times already so I don't make the same mistakes.
This breakdown is really helpful for my sons, thanks.
Thanks for the video. It was helpful for learning how to position myself on the breakout. I'll give it a shot tonight.
Thanks for the awesome video, helped me out a ton.
What inch do you get your skates cut? They sounded like they had great, really fast edges.
Thanks!
@littleenglish
notice how the pass that time wraps around the boards instead of being passed directly to the wing's stick.
that is what it means.
Thank you for the great videos. Keep them coming!
well done brother....covered quite a bit
this is good shit, but someone needs to do a 4 on 4 roller one.
especially if your in the UK, as we have very little ice over here!
great video but could some please help me understand how to do that transition skating move
Great advice! Thanks.
thanks for the help your great!

thanks.
great vid! lot's of good points.
holy shit, this guy is a good coach

what does he mean when the defenseman wraps it?

haha i was remembering that hit, keep ur head up if Campbell's on the blue line

6:40 ...and then you get smeared.

I thought that was pretty dumb myself

not if you're pressed right up against the boards
this guy is the william shatner of hockey

@blindspy oh jeeze. haha thanks
You forgot a high guy sometimes there's a mad covering the middle of the zone
+Winnipeg All Stars but it's out in the NZ and not in the D zone
i saw you add a comment on a different video
I think its not the best idea to take the hit to protect the puck...looks like youre asking for hte elbow to the head.
still need help?
look at the videos for pivots, backward to forward, forward to backward
good vid, you need a new stick though lol
goodstuff
6:15
well if u got your back turned u shouldnt be getting hitt
Stupid stupid stupid. The first part is correct but the hold puck and take the hit may be a little strange but to each there own.I like to face my hits.
