My friend just bought me this as a gift and it has already become my number one idea sketching tool. This video alone has given me even more ideas, to the point where I'm probably going to backup a bunch of 'sample packs' to my phone so that I can load up sets of instruments whenever I want. aaaaaaaaaa
With the number of OP-1s you've (probably) sold (by being cool) Teenage Engineering should custom make you a pocket operator with a red button for record.
I don’t need this or want this but after seeing this super cool video I’m going to buy it. Then use it for an hour and then put it with my other po’s that I didn’t need or want. All because Jeremy made me buy them. Damn you and your super cool videos...
If you want to free up some space and send a po or two to someone who say hasn’t got a synth but is super curious about them maybe that someone could work something out with you great is the world dot com
Your fantastic. Got this in the mail today, it’s my first pocket operator. I was playing with it and hoping there would be a tutorial online. Red means awesome videos you really enjoy watching.
Thanks, I was actually searching all over youtube because I couldn't remember how to live record melodies. I just picked my PO33 back up again after a long hiatus. Peace
Great into! The PO-33 KO! is an absolute beast! I’ve started making beats with it for my channel and have to say that the ease of sampling is unrivaled!
Been waiting for your take on the PO-33. Many months ago watching your PO-20 Arcade video at 2am while recovering from surgery made me impulsively buy it. 3 PO's later and im loving it. Now to save for the KO.
I started out with the sub and factory, had tons of fun, then got arcade, those 3 are awesome, then I got speak and was scared of it because it's a bit more complicated than the other 3 but now I've got much better at them, and added robot, k.o. is next. Surely one of the greatest inventions of all time.
The Speak? I don't think so. No harder than the K.O. I actually found myself enjoying the Speak a little more off the bat. That said, as a sampler, the KO is really all about what you feed it and how you work with its limitations.
I just bought one of these secondhand from Ebay and your review is just SO useful in getting me started with using it properly. You obviously have a gift for going through the features of such a device in such an informative and yet succinct and lighthearted way, which is very much appreciated and rather refreshing. Many thanks and please keep up the good work.
Dude, every time you post a video exploring new hardware (especially when it's Pocket Operators), I want to throw my wallet at them and just buy. I miss playing with sound. Having these, specially while I travel, would be so dope!
@@MasDouc I just bought a PO33 and spent 1 hour before making a fun little beat with my voice as a sample for one. I literally learned it all in an hour. It was so fun even if the beat stunk!
I know this is an old comment, but the thing with pocket operators is that they feel flimsy. I kind of bought one just for this reason but even with the additional protective case it feels risky to put into pocket, because the knobs are exposed. Im not aware if there are some alternative case to protect the knobs as well, but it just feels counter intuitive to have such a small and compact piece of hardware that you can take anywhere you go, yet theres a slight risk of the device being broken because it lacks the protective case. It seems very ideal for you to just be able to pull this thing out of jackets pocket while sitting on a bus or train, or such, yet the exposed knobs are in risk of taking some damage if you accidentaly manage bump into something since they are exposed.
Your videos made me want to buy an OP-1, but that was too expensive for me. This is like a tiny OP-1, only affordable and easy to bring along.. I might want to buy this too. Damn you and your cool toys! :-)
I come back to this vid every time I forget how to use my PO (being too depressed to touch music gear for a while) So, I just want to let you know I appreciate you, Jeremy. Obviously beyond just this vid. But since I'm here, I thought I'd just say I hope you're doing well.
Excellent Jeremy. I’ve had mine a while and not got to grips with it until (finally yesterday) a 14 hour power outage, which left me little to be able to do. I followed up with tutorials like this today and now I feel like I’ve nearly grok-ed it. Cheers. Lee
I got a little lost at certain parts but this was still highly entertaining and informative. My Rick and Morty PO is coming in the mail tomorrow, I'm excited to see what I can make.
Jesus Christ I'm so early. Hi Jeremy! ^~^ nice to hear your voice again. Also. Good job on your productivity levels. Let me know if you need any help, dude. Keep on rocking, Snowmew!
@@GregAdamsEternal yup. Sampling straight off my phone via line in on the go, bus, work, train, .....insane! an MPC around my neck petty much haha. Look up Enrique Martinez Music. He has a data dump and slicing tutorial that'll help big time.
@Satanic Speed Metalhead just Clear that pattern or sound by holding REC and whatever patter/sound you're trying to clear. That's the only way to get ur full 40 second sample time, etc...
I love my ko I sampled my voice and a coin drop on a chest of drawers and turned it into a beat lol it's a sick little sampler I may grab the tonic too or the speak
I didn't like the lack of an on/off switch on my PO14 Sub, as it just sat there for ages and I mean...Ages! before it powered off. So I built myself a custom wooden case which included an on/off switch. Really easy to do. You just solder a small thin washer on either end of the switch wires and place them either side of a rubber washer, which all sits between one end of a battery in the po14's battery compartment and it's connector. Works a treat :O)
One of the best producers on TH-cam hands down! And I can tell, you have a touch of OCD, from you using the lines on the table keeping the device aligned! 😋😍
finally, a device for me to record a bird on
FINALLY
And then you can use the "Reverse" effect to flip it.

What I really want is Jeremy’s discipline, patience, and attention span

You can. Practice, strategy, meditation.

honestly they look like SMD buttons, you could probably de- and re-solder on a new button

I'd settle for just a free 10-cent case (to match my 5 cent board) at this point...

Electronic massacre - what one has gotten the most use or held your attention/affection the longest?
The po-20 arcade is probably the best one. But they all have good points and they all work really well together
I feel exactly the same way. I haven't even opened it yet.
I can send you my address to help you get rid of all those pesky "po's that (you) didn't need or want" - :D

I love when they make the samplers almost like a game, so cool
That backup function is amazing! And what a simple, open solution it is
This quirky little device has TOTALLY changed the way I make music. Great tutorial...in fact, this is THE best PO-33 tutorial out there!!!
Never expected to be slapped in the face with humor in an informative video about this product.
Much appreciated!
Mine just arrived. I'll only watch this video 13 times. Thanks for posting!
Just got mine in the mail. This thing is EXCELLENT. If anybody here is thinking about buying one of these, you won't regret it.
Ikr!! Pocket operators are SO fun, I’ve actually got them all (plus a few broken ones).
i love ur pocket operator videos the whole reason i found ur channel was through ur original P.O tutorial videos i could just watch these for hours
These POs make me feel like a real musician
I finally went ahead and got one of these, and I'm loving it so far. This video helped me learn my way around it super quickly, so thanks!
the meme is strong !!! so good (best video explaining the PO-33, i mean...you got meme and education in the same video? sign me up)
