      Same that’s the reason I stopped watching the show. Season 2 started and I felt the entire show changed so I checked the future plot and saw he married her and I gave up on this series that was enough to ruin it for me. It could have been anyone else he married but her of all people. I just can’t put in the time to be disappointed like this.

      And he couldn’t stand her either. But he put himself through that so two innocent children would be better off and have some stable Father figure in their lives. Surely that shows how much of a good person he was?

    Jamie's basically married both his wives because they were charity cases.
    It's nice that at least one of them was a woman he genuinely wanted. Sad that the second was just him trying to fill a hole in his heart.

    I know many men who've lost a wife and child for reasons and still wanted that family setting. Everyone hates his actions but I stand by the man as he wanted a family and he was getting older so I'm glad he found one. If you hate him for marrying a helpless woman and helping her kids, remember that Claire fucked and married a man while we was gone for only 3 years whereas Jamie took 15+ years to get over Claire

      It's not that he remarried. It's who he remarried with that people have an issue. Claire and Laoghaire have despised each other since she married Jamie and Laoghaire tried to have her killed. Also Claire had to remarry for protection as she would've been arrested for espionage. She also only slept with John because they were both drunk. Considering she and Frank hadn't had relations in years because she was in love with Jamie says a lot about her. In the time she was gone, Jamie had relations with 3 different women. I know Geneva was a special case but he admitted to enjoying it.

  • @jocelynthom2904
    @jocelynthom2904 6 ปีที่แล้ว +562

    In his own defense, Jamie had to live again. He was separated from his wife and unborn child for 20 years, went through hell and back over and over. All he ever wanted was a family to fill the void and live again. He loved Laoghaire's daughters, even though he could never love that selfish immature woman. I don't blame him for marrying her, even though he was under pressure from his sister. All I know is that Jamie had to live again.

The acting is incredible and the character growth is amazing. Cant wait for the next season. I recommend reading the series also. I'm now awaiting the latest book coming out in November. I did not think I would be alive to read it. I had a double lung transplant. Not being able to read the next book was a big bummer for me. Jamie is such a family man. A woman's man! Who cares what he did. He wanted to be a father long before Claire wanted to be mother. He lost his firstborn, had to part from his baby and his wife, part from his son that had brought him some hope within the hopelessness...
    He is such a tragic character. I am so in love with this man, which bothers me because he is fictional, therefore rather aspirational, not real!

    I understand the reason why Jamie had married Laoghaire. Although Jamie wanted to live again, Marsali and Joanne gave him a chance to be a father to them and love them as a father. I think he felt it was easy to marry Laoghaire, because he knew that he never loved Laoghaire, he was contented with companionship (although there is not much of companionship, for a woman who has been obsessed with Jamie and wanting Jamie to be hers, instead of reveling her victory, she shrink away from him, that's question for another time), if Jamie wanted love again, he would court different woman and marry for love, I think he felt that he had married different woman, if she had loved him but he didn't love her, it would be heartbreaking and disappointment on each side, and he wouldn't want to rob the woman's chance to have true love. I think he married Laoghaire even knowing that what she did to Claire, he knew himself that he would never loved Laoghaire.

    • @thebosfam8887
      @thebosfam8887 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this is an interesting concept... "he married her because he knew he wouldn't be spoiling someone else's true love"

    • @europeannighean
      @europeannighean ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thebosfam8887 Sure, it would be heartbreaking and disappointing on Laoghaire and her girls, I can understand. But the way I think about Laoghaire, she wasn't in love with Jamie. She was obsessed with him. I can sympathize her being abused by her husband, in one way, I feel sorry for her, but on the another way, I don't like Laoghaire for what she did. To one think that Laoghaire would grow up during those 20 years with life experiences, she would be mature emotionally and mentally, but she didn't. It showed that she was stuck in her dream and past phases. Laoghaire believes that Jamie has forgiven her and loved her, like the same way when Jamie had saved her from her punishment. Many reasons why Jamie married Laoghaire, it's never for her. Jamie married Laoghaire to save her daughters and at the same time, he can have a chance to be a father, a role that it has been forcibly taken from him. If Laoghaire didn't have children, would Jamie had married her? If anything, if Laoghaire had been widowed, no children, about to lose her home, she would move to her brother's home. Unless Jenny forcibly arranged marriage between Jamie and Laoghaire, Jenny would encourage Jamie to save Laoghaire by using his hero complex and at the same time it would be Jenny would come out as a good woman and good manipulator. As for Jamie, he would be unhappily married to Laoghaire, no matter how contented he would be, it would be a loveless and unhappy marriage. He wouldn't love her, and as for Laoghaire, it would be like a dream come true. The result would be the same, she still shrink away from Jamie and Jamie, being kind and gentle, would respect her distance. The marriage between them would be annulled.
      If Jamie had wanted love again, he would married again for love. He would court another woman or widow with children, but considering how much he loved Claire, he knew that he couldn't love the other woman the same. For Jamie's love, it's like give it all or none. If Jamie had found love with someone else, married her and then Claire returned, then Jamie would be torn between two women. It's like the quote from the movie Ever After, if the first woman is your true love, but if the first one dies, the second woman is your true love, but if the first one returns and is in the same room with the second one, then which one is your true love? First one or the second one?
      So, Jamie had married another woman, not Laoghaire, let's say the other woman loved Jamie and he didn't love her, at the end the woman would be heartbroken. And Jamie wouldn't want to rob the other woman's chance of happiness.
      Did Jamie love Geneva ? No, he didn't. But were a chance for him to love her ? I don't know.
      For Jamie's love, it's either I will give it my all to you or you get none.

    The truth nobody want to hear is that this story is written by Claire from her perspective. Laoghaire was not the other women Claire was. They where in love but could not be together because of Jamies calling. This is why his sister don’t like Claire. Claire makes up these story about Laoghaire because she can’t bear her man being in love with someone else. The truth is she was gone for 20 years. His life was with Laoghaire these children are his. His destiny lies with Claire because of the calling to save Scotland, this calling is something Laoghaire stands for as well. Her life is very tough. Jamie lies for Claire because he needs her and can’t tell her the truth.

    His marrying laoghaire was a disgrace and cruel thing to do to claire.it was inexcusable.

      He was selfc entered I and either ignorant, unlikely, or allowed h😮to be used by laoghaire and her daughters and by Jenny. In any case he was cruel to Claire and his actions and behavior were inexcusable. How and by whom will he be held accountable?

    Jemie aveva voglia di essere padre peccato però che tutta questa voglia gli sia sparita dopo nemmeno un mese di matrimonio con loghary lasciando baracca e burattini e trasferendosi a Edimburgo nemmeno vicino casa no il più lontano possibile questa è la coerenza di jemie!

    men just don't get it, do they. His sister jenny pressured him into it. This is what is wrong with people, let them in due time figure out how to live their lives. Some people just don't get, a wedding ceremony doesn't equate to a marriage, especially one done under pressure. This wasn't just any woman, but the one who had claire framed for witchcraft. Jenny has no right to be showing her an attitude it was her who was at fault. In the book she had a one on one chat and was trying to avoid claire, because she knew she was guilty for pressuring jamie. She told claire that when laoghaire and jamie were getting married, she saw a vision and saw claire standing in between them at the alter...so she knew what she was doing was wrong. Jamie should have been more mindful of who he was marrying, and also in the book jamie does not tell claire right away about his illegitimate son.

    Should have married the widow who came to the cave, gave him a hair cut, shave and some "exercise". She was young enough to give him children if he was so interested in that. She wasn't his love like Clair but she would have warmed the bed on those cold nights in Scotland.
