Agnetha has ever since her teenage always had so much soul in her singing. Her expression when she outspeaks is always soulful. She really knows how to use her intrument. Great as always
The TV Special: ABBA-dabba-doo, was made for Svenska Tv (Swedish Television), 1976. 1976 was the year "ABBA mania" hit it's peak in Australia. All 6 of their Nº 1's they had in Australia were in that year. That same year, they went over to "The Land Down Under" to do a TV Special, and more people watched them on TV than watched the moon landing in 1969.
@@jumpingjellyfish9596 👍🙂 Very true. Björn also said in an interview, that ABBA's "most memorable" concert was in Sydney, 1977, with 50,000 fans braving the torrential rain to see them.
how good that you came to this special song with a special video and on such a special time "My love My life" in my opinion is the best ABBA ballad although the lyrics are sad, farewell, heartbroken It is a beautiful melody in an almost symphonic tone and Agnetha's voice rises to superlative levels very well accompanied in the choirs but She takes all the leadership and finishes with a powerful record in my opinion it is one of Her best vocal interpretations: S.O.S. I've been waiting for you My love My life Thank you for the music Chiquitita The winner takes it all Slipping through my fingers the video is very special I think it's the only one in which a single ABBA member stars from begin to finish, and that's Agnetha so She can be seen in the close-ups of her gestures and emotions, She is absolutely beautiful in this context And the time is special, because the week before was Agnetha's 71st birthday and the 47th anniversary of ABBA's victory at Eurovision with their iconic Waterloo This video could not be more opportune to honor " the Girl with Golden Hair"
I would add Disillusion to the list of her solo songs, especially because she wrote the song herself, her only contribution as a songwriter to ABBA's catalog.
@@robertschatz7781 I put it beside as "Move on" or "Take a chance on me" or "Gimme gimme gimme" or "Happy new year" or "One of us" or "Head over heels"
David, I am sorry for my inadequate English. I am classical educated, but I don’t understand this «G3 to E5». Is it possible for you or someone else to give me her range in «correct» therms, thanks!
Just love your ABBA reactions. As an old (ish) man living in England they were my favourites growing up and it’s a joy to see a new generation enjoying their brilliance. Keep them coming!
Frida has a couple of ballads where she leads like Gonna give you my love song, Tropical loveland. and much later in their last albums like Andante, andante.
Absolutely gorgeous song, and the lyrics, wooo! Well. It's ABBA! Truly one of the greatest musical acts in history. Love this song. The harmonies are stunningly beautiful. That chorus just, wooo!
Abba-dabba-doo is still possible to watch on Swedish Television "open archive", but only within Sweden. It is followed by an interview with Stig made around 1985. The program was directed and produced by Leonard Eek. It is from this program the video for When I kissed the teacher comes. Leonard Eek worked as producer in Swedish Televion and together with Lasse Hallström he directed short videos with swedish comedians Magnus and Brasse in early 70s. Magnus is the teacher in the WIKtT video. I did not know it before, but When I kissed the teacher is not an official Abba video and not directed by Lasse Hallström.
4:11 you missed a part of the song, and it is very important, it is Agnetha's first high register (the other does it at the end of the song) Björn has said about Agnetha and this song that in "My love My life" you can appreciate all the potential and voice register of Agnetha the video is from the special for TV "ABBA-daba-doo" (a pun on The Flintstones) in it there is a segment for each one in their pre ABBA stage Agnetha is made to listen to her first song, her success when you are 17 years old and immediately afterwards they show this special video, where she appears alone (although in the recording there are all four of them and it is a song by ABBA, not by Agnetha soloist)
I thought of the Queen song at first as well. 😂 After decades I came to appreciate this as a true jewel amongst their album tracks. It reminds me of the innocence and inexperience of youth, the beauty and disappointments of it. Really dreamy and spacey track. Love it. The Poland performance is where it’s at - check out that one instead
Aww, shucks. I recommended this song just a few moments ago! New sub here lol! Not quite up to speed! One of the things I love about this song is that the intervals that Agnetha is singing are so different from what American ears are used to hearing (at least at that time). It also showcases her incredible range from somewhat low to up there in the stratosphere!! And the lyric, "But I know I don't possess you, so go away, God bless you" - damn. DAYim!!! Rips me up every. single. time. I'm so glad that I found your channel!!
Abba Arrival was my first album and it had the lyrics on the cover. I just sang all the lyrics to this song yet I haven't heard it for 40 years. I felt so grown up having my own record. I'd love for you to listen to When I kissed The Teacher and Dum Dum Diddle!
I saw this when it was featured on NBC. I thought the name was corny, but I liked everything about it, especially the version of Money, Money, Money, the group dressed in about 1897 era clothing.
Check this song from the second of the Mamma Mia films. Sung by Lily James, Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep. The ladies own voices, great. You can find the clip on TH-cam Björn changed the lyrics a bit to fit the story in the film
Certainly one of my favorite 'Agnetha' songs. I like the Poland 1976 clip a little better. Pretty sure I read Benny/Bjorn wrote this to show off her voice to the world. Kinda fit's cause this is the kind of song Agnetha just loves to sing - even now. You should react to her " Jag Var Så Kär" she was like 17 or 18 when she wrote and recorded it. I love Frida's stuff just as much but she nails a different type of song.
As far as I know, Agnetha was 16 when she wrote that song, 17 when it is recorded as a single, and 18 when it appeared on her debut album, Agnetha Fältskog.
This song began life as Monsiuer, Monsieur. You can here a demo recording here (taken from a Swedish radio interview): th-cam.com/video/YbYPIPhR8aE/w-d-xo.html

Melody ? Harmony ? Lyrics ?
Gone straight over the top of his head !
He cannot comprehend the components of music !

Ultra extreme beautiful ballad. Agnetha sings with her eyes.
Yes she does. :) she feels every word.
She sings, she laughs, she cries with her eyes.
Can't stop crying whenever I hear this song. The text kills me, and her voice just enhances it.
Pure perfection from Agnetha!
I strongly agree! and we love her here in her hometown of Jönköping Sweden.
If there are angels and they could sing, it would look and sound like this. I have no words for this perfomance...
Voice of an angel
Beautiful vocals.
This is a beautiful little gem.
And agnetha is singing her heart out.
Hip hop fan encounters utterly alien concepts like melody and harmony !
Can't cope with it !
This song is my all time favourite from ABBA. Not a big hit, but I played it hundreds of times in my room back then, and I still love it.

A little correction:
two of #1 by ABBA in Australia was in 1975:
"I do I do I do I do I do" &
"Mamma Mía" (it continue to 1976)
