It was nice to see son (fj80) help out older dad (fj60). I have a 84 FJ60 with 171xxx and she is still going. Replace that Galley Plug if you already hadn't.
Really depends on how well it has been cared for. They are reliable but over time things wear out. The main thing is rust. Get underneath and look for rust. You absolutely don’t want one that had a rusted frame.
@@ericcorreia7716 it’s a 1981, the guy did mention a bit of rust on the rear panels. (Bottom section) stock straight 2F engine,4x4 works. The guy is asking $5,200 OBO. What’s your take on the price? Of course assuming everything works fine like he says it does.
@@desertcamel6685 seems like a good price. Just check the overall condition. You could also pay a mechanic to come with you. It’s worth spending the $100 or so to avoid thousands in repairs later. IMO buy the best one you can afford. Also if the truck needs work will you be doing it or paying someone else?? Do you have a budget for repairs? Will this be your daily driver? If so you probably don’t want something that will need a lot of work and you will be without a car. Lots of different factors but in general get the best one you can up front.
@@ericcorreia7716 yeah I’m gonna check it out with my mechanic.. I wanna spend time on the road and tracks not on the side of the road. If it doesn’t work out, I’m just gonna stop playing games and buy an 80 series turbo diesel.
Gantry Crane yep I currently have some Cooper Discovery All-Terrains. I know I could lower the psi a lot more that I did for more traction but new grippier shoes would definitely help.
It's been holding up pretty good. Never left me stranded. Most of the repairs / maintenance are just fixing or replacing items that have worn out over 30+ years and 230k+ miles.
Such a beautiful beast. You gotta love all 4x4's from that era.
eusdeenius they are great! Fun to see them coming back around.

Lovely 60 homie
Thanks!!
Must...buy...lockers
Yep that would definitely help. I have the Lock Right locker in the rear but nothing up front.
Love the car
Is that for sale? Do you still have it?
Nope not for sale and yes I still have it. Thanks for watching!
How reliable are these vehicles? There’s a guy selling one and I’m gonna check it out this weekend. Anything I should look for? Thanks in advance

Beautiful rig, do you still own it?
Sure do!
Maybe better tires will help.

Nice rig. How is it holding up? I'm thinking of getting one

Hey, nice Cruiser! What bumpers are those on the FJ60?
They are custom built by Green Mountain Customs in Vermont. The owner was a previous owner of the car.
great looking truck, makes me want to do a low SOA like you have. Who did the work, if I may ask?
Joel Simpler thanks! Green Mountain Customs in Vermont.
Do you have any info on your spring over setup? Was it already like it when you purchased your 60?
It was already like that when I purchased it. One of the previous owners, Green Mountain Customs out of Vermont, did all the work.
Snow chains!
Is this up at Larch?
It's actually up in the mountains east of Battle Ground, Wa.
@@AdventuresInLandCruising hmm, looks like Larch aka, yacolt burn trails now. Maybe even up past sunset falls. Looks familiar!
@@lol123321123321 yep absolutely! There is another Larch in Oregon also. First time I've been out there. Really beautiful, especially covered in snow.
What do you do as a job?
Video production
No diff locks or mud tires or chains... you have no idea what you are doing.smh
Gotta start somewhere. Thanks for watching!
