    For anyone looking for a cost effective and OEM solution. Look at the ninja 650 12v socket, it’s the same thing with the same quick connector to the OEM wiring socket that is behind your front cowl. It’s just significantly cheaper than the one sold for the ninja 1000sx.

      Thanks for the info! I wonder why they do that with their prices on the same exact components.

    The Ninja's power outlet has a fuse rating of 3 amps and a maximum load of 20 watts. You can not safely use this plug for heated gear or compressors as you state in your video. It is meant for phone charging, GPS, radar detectors, etc.

    • @BlueEyedRider84
      @BlueEyedRider84  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is a good point regarding the amp rating, but you can plug in certain gear; for example, my heated gloves only draw 2 amps. It is primarily an accessory outlet for charging devices, etc. However you are 100% correct on air compressors, they draw too much. Very good catch! I will see what I can do about a revising that statement.

    As per @hz2189 comment. Ordered the ninja 650 oem socket and can confirm it fits. 33 quid instead of 95..... 😆 glad I saw the comment before I ordered one!

      There may be a language translation issue or this is a term I am not familiar with. I know of CLAP (chrome, leather, accessories, performance) but not sure about clapper. Could you explain? I will say that I plan on covering everything on the bike at some point or another

    You went into fast forward mode right at the point of connecting the device. It is not at all obvious which connector on the main harness is the right one. Is there a ‘cover’ on the one I’m supposed to use??

      Freeze frame at 3:16. It is the connection my ring finger is resting on. It is plugged into a blank female end - you can put terminals in the female end and make your own connector if you go with after market.

      If you are having trouble finding the connection let me know, but it should be up at the front on the left side below the mirror mount.

      It taped up to a fatter cable in the loom with a blank fitted to it.

    Thinking about installing a USB version of this inhave at home just wondering would the USB version need a fuse? Or if that connection already fused?

    • @BlueEyedRider84
      @BlueEyedRider84  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could wire into the DC 3 amp circuit, just make sure to pick a unit that won't overload it. Do not put a larger fuse it or you can burn up the wiring. I do have a video on options: th-cam.com/video/nOY5uykPSXY/w-d-xo.html
      You could also run a hardline with inline fuse, but if it isn't switched it could slowly drain the battery, which isn't a problem if you always put it on a tender when you get home.

    I was planning on using this to connect to the quadlock charger. Would you recommend?

    • @BlueEyedRider84
      @BlueEyedRider84  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How were you planning to do it? An adapter from DC accessory to USB or a inline run with a USB connection? In either case, yes you can do that and I would recommend it - it has the necessary amperage. Just don't try to hardwire the quadlock line to the power wires as it would be 12v instead of 5 then.

    • @Youplatecouk
      @Youplatecouk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlueEyedRider84 many thanks. I have the 12v socket installed and will be getting the quadlock fitted soon but am concerned about the usefulness of the 12v if I’m honest, as I can’t find anyone using it directly for phone connection.

    • @BlueEyedRider84
      @BlueEyedRider84  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Youplate.co.uk Apologies for the delayed response. TH-cam isn't notifying me on comments within comments. The 12v isn't really useful for many things, but it is nice to have that port if needed. I use a DC to USB adapter for everything else. th-cam.com/video/nOY5uykPSXY/w-d-xo.html

    Terrible music, had to mute it just to watch it.
    And I would just left the video entirely if my friend didn’t ask me to view it because he was wanting add the accessory and wanted help figure it out.

    • @BlueEyedRider84
      @BlueEyedRider84  ปีที่แล้ว

      This video was one where my audio didn't record during the install, which is why it was a complete text demonstration. It was very unfortunate. The music selection I can see may not be to everyone's liking, but thankfully in the case of this video you don't need to hear anything so you can just mute it. I will admit I should have lowered the volume a bit on the music.

    I have the socket installed and i am running into the an issue of the plug, I found the lead on the bike and there were two rubber little plugs, pulled out, does the end piece of the plug come off prior to trying to plug it in? I need help and BTW I bought the Kawasaki one for the 650 like I did on my Versys 1000, so hopefully I'm just not removing an end piece correctly? Thanks for any help

      The connectors are plugged into dummy connectors (ends without any connectors in them so you can make your own connector) - so you just need to disconnect - but it sounds like you figured this out? Let me know if not and I will do whatever I can to help

      @@BlueEyedRider84 From the angle looking down with limited length of wiring etc, then I was pressing and squeezing on different spots.....searched some other images and pulled the wire down to get a different view and the the dummy conn. came off. All buttoned up and works great. For a second, I thought Kawasaki changed the conn, I bought the part#99994-1373 (lower priced) same kawi unit. Thanks to your video showing how to remove the fairing was crucial. Thanks for posting these for all the owners!

    Do we know to cut any wires or it provide a plug and play socket for chargee

    • @BlueEyedRider84
      @BlueEyedRider84  ปีที่แล้ว

      The OEM one does not require cutting any wires. It is plug and play. If you get an aftermarket one, you will need to put the connection tabs in to the blank (cap over OEM connection) or cut the connector off and wire it directly. I prefer not cutting or manipulating any OEM wiring wherever possible.
