Watching him move the tv...DHP is one of the great physical comics of all time. His farcical moments in Frasier are some of the best ever.

Julia's played by Sarah Lancashire, who first came to fame in the UK in the long-running soap, 'Coronation Street', and has since starred in many excellent TV dramas.

David Hyde Pierce is a delight, and I thought he indicated that he would be open to joining a Frasier reboot in a subtle and smart way. I hope he’s included; I don’t know if you can have a Frasier without Niles.

I think it's wonderful, I had never heard of Julia Child as I am not from USA, but I was drawn to the show because of David Hyde Pierce. The relationship between Julia and her husband is so beautifully portrayed by the two wonderful actors. I am loving every moment of this truly amazing series. Sarah Lancashire is fabulous.

I've watched three episodes. It's very good and the actress does an excellent job of portraying her. The relationship between her and her husband was very loving.

His physical gag at 38 seconds (sliding along the TV changing direction) might be one of my favorite things ever LOL

This looks like it will be wonderful, with a great cast. Sarah Lancashire was wonderful in ‘Last Tango in Halifax’.

THAT'S where I recognize her from!! Thank you. Great show - I think I've watched it twice, but not in the last couple of years. I kept hoping they'd go further with it.

I met her when I was working a popular restaurant's kitchen in Seattle forty some years ago; no mistaking her voice.

At first, I thought, "Why watch yet another show on Julia Child?" But then I decided to watch this series, because i did love her. And the series is wonderful and charming. David Hyde Pierce is great, as are all the other actors. BTW, I then started watching some old clips of Julia Child on TH-cam, and there are some wonderful ones. Like when she was showing David Letterman how to make an omelet, and then casually asks about the cockroach crawling on the floor. And, yes, the camera then captures this real, live cockroach noticed by the ever-unflappable Julia Child.

This is far far better than the Meryl Streep movie.

    • @BoydDoghouse
      @BoydDoghouse 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I noticed that as well. I think Streep kind of went into a characterization of Julia Child rather than portraying her. The other story in the film (about the blogger) never really interested me. I also felt like they over-emphasized how tall Child was by constantly having Streep on boxes and shot from low angles.

I randomly watched this show and stuck with it because it was lovely and the cast are amazing also. Was so pleasantly surprised to see David in it and later Bebe and that was great for me as a Frasier fan. But yeah David's right - Julia and her hubby have such a deep, committed relationship in this show and it's wonderful to watch.

I watched Julia and Julie with Meryl Streep and I liked that movie. Mrs. Streep did a good job. But, this Julia is ten times better. And, David Hyde Pierce is Great. I love the watching Paul and Julia. Great series. 👍

As a young adult I was fascinated with her, first her voice grabbed you, then her slinging chickens and flour around, it just looked like so much fun, she was awesome and I fell in love with her she was a light to look forward to. A different adult not like mom at all !!! lol😊

I'm sure there was cooking on daytime tv before Julia Child, but not gourmet cooking, except when Galloping Gourmet came along. But Betty Crocker was the ultimate symbol of cooking, it was female-centered.

Paul and Julia were very anti-gay. That's never brought out in the movies and documentaries about them. The biographies document it though.

Actually in episode three of the series when Julia Child visits her alma mater there is a scene when an older student friend comes on to her and she doesn’t know quite what to do.

I read that during the Aids crisis she changed her views and became supportive.

    • @mell6398

Ok, haven't read up up on them. But the show itself presents her as gay friendly. She has a chef friend who's gay who she is supportive of. Also they go to a gay bar and she sings with a drag queen, much to everyone's delight.

When AIDS hit, she became a major supporter of the gay community. She changed her views.
