Generally the middle of the tide cycle, when the water is moving most for ledges. The fish swim down the coast from a river to a sandy bay at this particular spot. So there is about an hour or two where they come through. High and low seem to always be slowly unless you are on the beach or up in the rivers
I'm heading to the Wells area in a couple weeks and would love to try my luck off the jetty. Any recommendations on how to get live mackeral? Can you catch them from the beach? How should I play the tide when jetty fishing?
What are your thoughts on closed bow, or an open bow (like yours), up in Maine? I was under the impression most people up there lean towards closed because of the cold weather, but I guess if you pick your days, it isn't necessary.
@@FishingWithBoyt would you ever bump down to 25lb leader if there weren’t rocks to get hung up on? I’m headed to Maine and I just bought this 25lb blue label for a different trip and was wondering if I could get away with it. Plus the water seems a bit clearer there than here in MA. Thanks!
Been fishing that spot every summer since i was a little kid. Super cool to see it on YouTubube!
As a native Mainer who has lived out west for 40+ years this inspires me to come home for a chance to fish like I did as a kid
Do you just live line them? Fish them off the bottom?
@@gunadoo free swim live line. I cast the bait into a zone I know the stripers ambush from or swim through
love the content!when you mentioned you missed the best part of the tide, which part of the tide did you mean? curious about your insight :)

I’m so excited my pants are getting tight!

I have a fold down canvas canopy. Highly recommend. It is great to cut the wind while running and is great to get out of the wind on cold days
What pound leader and what size circle do you use?
30 to 40 lb florocarbon
Size 9 non offset circle, sometimes a 7 if the fish are picky

25 would work even on the rocks.
