Genius! With zero experience I bought most of the items you suggested. Tried for the first time today and I've never had a so-perfectly-defined shape. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. I used to use a Mach 3 for most of the face/neck then a 2nd razor (Sensor) to hit the small areas under the nose and up the cheek. You didn't just save me time/money but I have never had the perfect lines until now. Thank you!

I'm new to the beard gang and I haven't used a straight razor in over a decade. I was in the army so you know having facial hair was not allowed and if a soldier did have facial hair it could only be so long without a lineup. Anyway bro I'm looking pretty decent but having that straight razor touch would put me on top. Thanks for the very informative video and keep up the good work.

I don’t like using double edged blade snapped in half. I use to use it but I noticed that there is a slight bend at the point of the snap like the one on the video. This might make the blade sit slightly uneven or lift up the two guards slightly. Not a big deal but this is a precision instrument 😅

    • @OgNightcrawler

It may be genetic. I had a roommate who’s beard hairs would grow thicker and quicker along his jawline but would be lighter up around his cheeks. My lines are very thin around my lips and don’t connect hardly, but everywhere else will grow fast.

Good vid man! thanks for the info. I shaved with a straight razor for the first time today and i did okay.. I was really struggling with the rounded part of my beard, so your tips on using the top edge of the blade should help for the next time. Love me some witch hazel too man. Have you ever tired using cotton rounds to wipe the witch hazel off? it works really well and gets all the dirt and grime off of there while drying your face. a little squirt on a cotton round does the trick. Anyway, thanks again.

the best way to avoid any shaving bumps is to control your stress levels.
sometimes we are mentally stressed and we dont even notice that.
Stess weakens your immune system which directly affects your skin.
when you shave your face with razor, you reveal your pores to bacteria in the air.
this bacteria creates those "razor bumps".
normal immune system would fight this bacteria and prevent those razor bumps
, but stressed people's immune system is weak.
    How Stress Affects Skin
    :
Stress causes a chemical response in your body that makes skin more sensitive and reactive. It can also make it harder for skin problems to heal.
Have you ever noticed that you break out more when you’re stressed? This is because stress causes your body to make hormones like cortisol, which tells glands in your skin to make more oil. Oily skin is more prone to acne and other skin problems.
    Stress can also:
Make skin problems worse. For example, stress can aggravate psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema. It can also cause hives and other types of skin rashes and trigger a flare-up of fever blisters.
as a stressed guy, i can tell you that what helps me with razor bumps is:
first i would recommend you all to shave while you take shower it is much more hyginic and makes process easier
i have shaving box kit with all the things needed for my shaving.
i also have small mirror in my shower.
    0) you must put gloves on to prevent any bacteria from your hands
1)apply hydrogen peroxide cream on face( you can buy it at any hair products store) i personally use 12% cream but you can also use 6% or 3% if your skin is sensitive. hydrogen peroxide kills all the bacteria on your skin so it won't get in to your pores when shave.
2)exfoliate your face with nizoral shampoo and face brush.(nizoral shampoo is good chemical exfoliator and can prevent skin buildup which prevents ingrown hairs). there are alternatives to nizoral shampoo like ketoconazole shampoo which does the same. (ask your doctor for this shampoo it needs perscription)
3)before shaving make sure your facial hair is the shortest you can get it.
i personally shave with foil shaver like "Philips one blade" before shaving with a real razor ( any foil shaver would work fine).
    2) put shaving gel on your face first, wait 3-4 minutes, after that apply hair conditioner also on the face.
    2) take cup with boiled hot water and put your razor in it, it is always better to shave with hot razor, it cuts better and protects the razor.
    3) after shaving blow cold air on your skin with a fan or hair dryer or with your towel, it closes the pores.
    4) wait half hour for the skin to calm down and apply some talcum powder on skin or dry shampoo spray which gives same effect. (no need to wash it).
    5) for prevention of razor bumps ask your doctor for "RETIN A/ RETINOL" cream 0.5% , this cream helps to prevent any bumps from showing on skin. i use retinol before going to sleep. ( i personaly use it when i feel the need, when i see reduction in razor bumps i stop with retinol for a while.) (note that while putting retinol your face should be clean of any products)
and if you put it before going to sleep dont forget to rinse it in the morning)
after i rinse it in the morning i put some talcum powder on face/ or spray dry shampoo on face for calming the skin.
    note::
if nothing helps i suggest you get laser hair removal to completely remove your facial hair or to thin it.
thin hair is much less likely to cause any razor bumps.

I can’t grow my beard because of my job, but I still gotta show support bro. That shave secret reminds me of a product called liquid razor. I can’t even put a razor to my face, but I appreciate the clean look and feel you get from the razor with a line up versus clippers or electric shavers. Perhaps you used something in the past that got you a close shave without a razor? Currently using my andis outliners. Adjusted them for a closer cut. Any plans for a 2018/2019 updated list for clippers to use? So far I still rock with the color pros you suggested awhile back.

Do you still use the Braun Series 9 or do you recommend a different face shaver now?

I really appreciate this vid bruh, been using regular razor blades for years. But I've really had the desire to step it up and try a straight razor, for me time isn't an issue all I need is a few hours, some smooth jazz and I'm good. However I was looking at some vids that swear by the EZ blade shaving kit but then I've seen your vid about the this kind of razor. Is this the one to use for beginners or would you also recommend the EZ blade?

Im bald and I use clippers on my head. A lot of times I get razor burns bad. My skin gets really dark. Do you have any suggestions or products that I can use.
