Was für tolle Bilder und Spiegelungen, Bilder von Bergen und Seen sind einfach episch 😍. Tolles Video, Christian! Hab noch einen schönen Sonntag und liebe Grüße aus dem verregneten München 🖖🏼
Hi Chris, vielen lieben Dank! Ja, die Dolomiten sind halt einfach herrlich. Aber selbes lese ich aktuell ja auch bei deinen echt tollen Posts auf Instagram 😉 Hab einen schönen Sonntag, Christian
Beautiful location and images Christian. The reflections in the lake must have been stunning in person. A great video to watch buddy thanks for sharing 🙏
Hi Adrian, thank you so much, buddy! Yes, that place is definitely amazing. I hope, I could return there one day in autumn. We will see how dangerous the roads will get for campervans then 😊 Enjoy your Sunday, Christian
Totally agree with you here. Just go there is always something to see or photograph but best of all is that you enjoyed the outdoors. I always say on my channel : If you don't go, you're sure you have nothing to show. You showed that even in the middle of the day you can capture amazing shots. I have to admit that the landscape was on your side here. In my flat country the netherlands mid day shooting gets a little bit more difficult. Grt guido
Hi Guido, getting reasonable photos around noon works with all types of open areas, also in Netherland 😊 The trick is simply to use "gappy clouds", so that you get definition in the landscape due to a game between light and shadow. That is important. Otherwise the landscape would look boring due to the high sun. The wider the landscape, the easier, actually. But again: you need gappy clouds therefore. That's the trick 😉 Nice greetings, Christian
The 30mm to 40mm focal length was used in this video. You don't often use wider lenses for landscape photography. Therefore, my conclusion is that there are only a few situations that work with 15mm. Maybe I'll stick with 18mm as my wides lens which I already have. I love the 10:03 picture, it shows that the light is important to create depth and set the mood in the image.
Hi Thomas, I work also a lot with ultra-wide angle lenses, actually, but definitely not only. The decision on the focal length is really, really important and depends on a couple of things. In the Dolomites shorter focal lengths tend to work not as good as a bit longer ones, for some reasons. I made a video about how to decide on the right focal length some time ago, by the way. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/ad4d3N1YB8w/w-d-xo.html Thanks a lot for watching, my friend 😊 Nice greetings, Christian
Noticed that you used a travel tripod. Did you find that adequate for you session. I can sympathize with the light situation. I just returned from Tokyo and I had wanted to photograph. However, it was 35-37 degrees with HIGH humidity which created "mist filter" where nothing was really sharp. No inspiration to photograph. Really enjoyed your first B&W with the hut and mountains. Prima!! Loved the photos.
Hi Erich, yes, you saw right according to the travel tripod. For me, that's always a bit of a compromise. As I ran a workshop over the week before, where I did a lot of hiking in high-alpine areas, and I also planned some more hikes for the following days, I decided to reduce the weight of my backpack to the absolute minimum. And that meant also the tripod. The hiking trail was quite steep and the air was reall thin 😊 So, in this case, it was the right decision. Sad to hear that you struggled with haze/humidity in Tokyo. I hope you had anyway a nice time there. You know, you can use high humidity and haze to your advantage, to create a sense of depth. Therefore you have to consider an aproppriate composition, of course (close elements with high contrast and less contrast the further away). But if it gets too much, especially with longer focal lengths when the foreground is already far away, a polarizing filter could help you to reduce that effect a bit, also when it is not possible to get completely rid of that, of course. And if it is really strong, we should also not forget about the dehaze slider in Lightroom, which can also do some magic here. Sad that you didn't find much motivation, but yes, sometimes it is like that. But I hope, you got anyway some images out at least, and I cross my fingers than you can rescue some of them in post-processing. Have a great Sunday, Christian
Christian, yes you hit the nail on the head-lack of motivation! Somehow with 37 deg and 85% humidity with clothes so wet that they needed to be wrung out, motivation was hard to find. However, wedding photographers from the hotel were taking out brides in the heat and taking nice standardized shots but nice regardless!
Thanks a lot for telling me about this typo, Ehab! I must have had a stroke when I was writing the title. Especially as I didn't see the mistake even though I read over it again for several times 😆 So, thanks a lot and enjoy your Sunday, Christian
Wieder ein fantastisches Video, die Fotos ein Traum, die Spiegelungen wunderbar, einfach wieder eine super Leistung!! 👍👍👏
Vielen Dank 😊
