    15khz option means that it works as downscaler. I have one of these variations called ODV GBS-C AIO, and it also work as downscaler.

    • @RetroUpgrade
      @RetroUpgrade  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, yeah some bundles come without it .
      PSU is "5V 2A 2.1 x 5.5mm"
      search for this exact frase in aliexpress and you should geta match. there are also USB-A to 5.5x2.1 adaptors and if your USB adaptor can supply 5v that should work as well.
      the GBSC dose not come close to consuming 2A so you may be ok with a 1A supply
      Good luck 🔌

    Hey, great video!
    I got mine yesterday and I'm trying to do downscaling via the Saturn cable (Saturn to SCART to be precise), as source I'm using the Steam Deck. Yesterday I tried going into the GBS-C via a HDMI -> RCA converter but got a black screen, probably due to the issue that the yellow cable is actually sync (I still got audio though).
    Using a RCA -> SCART Adapter in addition still results in a black screen sadly.
    Can a HDMI -> VGA converter solve this issue?

    • @RetroUpgrade

      Yes i think so . Hdmi can not output rca directly but it can transfer Vga(RGB) signal

  • @leoargentino5409
    @leoargentino5409 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Hello, it is an interesting project but I have some questions. In my opinion, the reason for using a scaler is not only to enlarge the image but also to generate an image (on LED TVs) that looks like the one We see on a CRT. I know this scaler can perform some type of scanline simulation. If this simulation is done well it can be interesting (that is, not only adding a black line but correctly simulating the blurring of the "pixels")... BUT, I AM MORE INTERESTED in DITHERING replication. The SEGA Megadrive/Genesis consoles exploited the presence of dithering in their composite video output to achieve transparency effects or an apparent palette expansion. From the same megadrive connector we can extract an RGB signal (scart) that has greater clarity, but loses the dithering, which is taken into account and used to generate visual effects. Does this scaler have a setting that allow us to recreate the dithering?. Using this scaler, do megadrive games look like they do on a CRT? Do we have transparencies and color gradients again?

    • @RetroUpgrade
      @RetroUpgrade  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi mate , Sorry for the really late reply TH-cam never gave me a notification of the comment , i agree scan lines can look really good if done right, regarding dithering i am not sure how it handless it , do you know any particular game that usually gives scalers issues , all my games seam to work (only tested 20-25 games so far) , i dont have a Everdrive for my consoles yet so cant load the Test suit for the NES/Snes/megadrive ill look in to it and let you know , i am also working on fixing the sync issues this version of the scaler has , it seams the designer that cloned the original designe didn't pay attention to interference and other factors .

    • @RetroUpgrade
      @RetroUpgrade  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't think it is actually fixable , at least not with the PCB designe for the GBSC and the other versions .
      but the main chip used is actually capable of taking a NTSC/PAL signal as seen on : www.tvia.com/en/show.aspx?mid=334&id=34 the chip name is : Tvia Trueview5725
      this means it can actually be morded in to it , i have look in to it a bit but don't have the time for now to do any Reverse engineering to make a mod but it should be possible, if i get some spare time ill bring out my new scope and try to make it work . will probably need a addon board or something but i have PCBway as a sponsor so shouldn't be to hard to make one :D
      Ill defiantly make a video if i start working on this as i think it would fix a few things this device needs , also trying to fix the HDMI/WIFI cutout bug in hardware i have a few ideas :)

      @@betweenthecolors I haven't purchased retrotink yet. That's why I use this chain. although I'm not sure that I will get the desired result from retrotink 5x, because I do not like pixelated images and, in addition, with a lot of ladders. Of course, the minus of the chain is more input lag, but I use the Benq zowie monitor, specially released for ps4 and did not notice it myself. Of course retrotink 5x has masks that imitate old type monitors, but I'm not a fan of this solution. so I'm in no rush to buy it. By the way, 8 and 16 bits look great in a bunch of ossc RGB to hdmi + framemaister 480p (picture setting) + m classic = soft cartoon picture, ladders and pixels are moderately tidied up, it was framemaister that gave a soft picture without inflection. if you exclude it and immediately after ossc mclassic , it will be ugly, which means framemaister does a micro reduction of ladders and thus mclassic works as it should.

      Yes it should work on any RGB , RGB-S and Y, PB, PR (component)signal , i am waiting for some parts to make a show case for all my consoles on the GBS-C.
      ordered some Cables for RGB support and a Composite to RGB converter (for the consoles that only have RGB like the NES)

      Great video. I’ve ordered the GBS-C and should have it soon. Can’t wait for your next video as I’m unsure what SCART cables to get for my SNES and PS1. I’m hearing that it won’t work properly if they have c sync or sync over luma on the SCART???

      I’ve not tried the PSX yet, but the SNES over RGB scart works fine with it 👍
