I like your modelling techniques but why would you deploy green technologies where the sun doesn't shine and the wind doesn't blow. You would put the solar in North Africa desert and wind on the edge of continental shelf of the Atlantic Ocean. The EU needs to work with all its nations to develop a green super grid. France could further develop its nuclear for base load if the Germans are too timid.

Thanks for your comment! Sure, it must be a European super grid but within the borders every country has to be able to take care of plus or minus 10% of its own energy needs. The Nordic ones use a lot of wind, Spain, Italy and Greece will go for solar and Germany will have both. Why do we have to go to Africa if we have Spain, Italy, Greece with fantastic PV production within our grid structure? It does not make a sense to come back another time to a model dependent on import from far away regions. Europe could be completely independent within it own borders. Then we would be safe for the future.
