i like the look but i really do think more research in terms of technical stuff need to be done by her. something as simple as putting a painter's tape should not even be in question. i think it's focusing more on the aesthetic than the actual functionality of the space, the open cupboard does make it LOOK more appealing and open up the space, but the FUNCTIONALITY AND MAINTENANCE is going to be horrid, instead, a glass door can be an option. I hate the open shelving concept... I don't want my dishes totally exposed to dust and summer time bugs, like house flies. Also, I think the biggest improvement that 'could' have been made to that kitchen was (if possible) just reverse the door swing on that fridge! If it opened with the door swinging towards the wall and thus out of the way ,it would be a lot easier to get things to and from the fridge to the counter that's to the left of the fridge.
I agree . The open shelving is very busy to the eyes and looks chaotic in a small space. The blue doors break up the space even more and not in a good way.
unfortunately the problem with open shelves above a cooking surface is not so much dust, but grease residue. Yknow that stuff that gets on your backsplash and the control panel for your stove? yeah, that all over your pretty jars and dishes. Gross.
Could the fridge not have been turned? Then the whole area beside it would have become usable. Generally top and bottom fridges like that can even have the door switched to the opposite side

I am so glad someone else noticed this. Any nicks or dings on the surface will enlarge over time. This was a really bad idea. Not durable/ nor sanitary at all.
@@grottoserpentina9342 And wont it leave residue when it's peeled off? So with the wood cabinets, you'll have to sand and revarnish them after you take the contact paper off. So you might've as well painted them in the first place.

I like that this project is realistic for renters. Yes contact paper may seem like an easy fix, but most landlords will NOT let you paint, change shelves/countertops. This is something that can easily be undone when your lease is up and you move out!
Well done!!! Suggestion: Buy or have Chris make a small table for the microwave to go on top of. Honestly, just buy a small table at a flea market, paint it a fab color that Vaughn loves. Could also buy a small cabinet at a flea market, paint it, put casters/wheels on it & have more space for hiding stuff inside the cabinet & put the microwave on top.
I absolutely hate (hate hate HATE!!) the style of my kitchen cabinet doors -- and never considered that you could just replace them with painted plywood. Your videos are a goldmine of ideas - Thank you for showing me that with a little effort mixed with imagination, you can "fix" just about any annoying problem.
Super cute! I love the contrast with the navy blue doors. Did you have to coat the contact paper on the counters with anything? Will it hold up when it gets wet?
This kitchen had so much more potential, especially when it comes to more storage (seriously the microwave in the window), the tan wall color (what!!!) and just overall being more vibrant to match his personality (i.e. Instagram photos).
vaughn has such a wonderful feel about him! i want a vaughn in my life. you did a great job and as someone also with a teeny kitchen i am taking serious notes.
That contact cover for the counter top space is genius. I wish i'd thought of it when i moved into my current apartment and will definitely be doing it if i move into another place without stone counter tops!
I loooved his reaction! What an incredible thing to do for your friend. I know this is your job but I’m assuming this was more to you. I adore your friendship
It is a really easy fix to change the opening direction of the fridge so that it opens into the kitchen. Right now he has to walk around to the wall to open the fridge. Most refrigerators are designed for you to be able to change the direction you want your doors to swing.
Nice declutter, but in practical day to day use the open-shelves will invite dirt and grease. I think having all those jars would be better in a pull out shelf of sorts. Rifling thru the shelves will be frustrating. Cupboards would look sleeker if done in all one colour. It chops up the room too much. I love the vinyl overlay but will it hold up as a countertop surface? I would go nuts always having to remove the stove top cover all the time. I tried that once a long time ago.
Moisture, water around the sink, and heat near the stove or from hot dishes is gonna make that contact paper bubble like crazy, it being vinyl only helps with light water spillage.
I recognize those coasters! They're from Target. They're really cute, but the metal cross on one of them popped off and I had to super glue it back on.
Chris's brain makes him rediculously attractive. As in: I could watch him work ---- for hours. Without losing interest. Anyone agree? And hes so damn positive. Yeah where I live a "dollar store" doesn't even exist🙈
NCM I feel bad for u dollar stores are so cool
Vaughn is adorable. ❤️ Great makeover.
Love the makeover but loooved your friends reaction, he was so happy and greatfull, your amazing, new subscriber🥰
I think Ashley and her team did a great work.
You two are so adorable! Love the results! You make it look too easy!
This kitchen looks amazing !! Looks like someone is invited for dinner ! 😉
Omg you guys look like siblings.
Really great! Yes, contact paper seems to be a good friend for renters ;-)
I loved how excited he was, I laughed with him
This kitchen had so much more potential, especially when it comes to more storage (seriously the microwave in the window), the tan wall color (what!!!) and just overall being more vibrant to match his personality (i.e. Instagram photos).
vaughn has such a wonderful feel about him! i want a vaughn in my life. you did a great job and as someone also with a teeny kitchen i am taking serious notes.
She is so good!!!!! More episodes please!
Isn't it adorable how happy he is?
That contact cover for the counter top space is genius. I wish i'd thought of it when i moved into my current apartment and will definitely be doing it if i move into another place without stone counter tops!
My favorite so far! It looks amazing!
Honestly, the final project looked soooo much better than the drawing
this was fun, you made me a believer in that faux marble contact paper, good job on everything!
I loooved his reaction! What an incredible thing to do for your friend. I know this is your job but I’m assuming this was more to you. I adore your friendship
Love it & your friend Vaughn is adorable!
It is a really easy fix to change the opening direction of the fridge so that it opens into the kitchen. Right now he has to walk around to the wall to open the fridge. Most refrigerators are designed for you to be able to change the direction you want your doors to swing.
I love, love, LOVE your relationship! It’s so sweet and cute☺️
He just needed a new cool brightly colored vintage style fridge!! Expensive for sure! But sooo fun!
That blue color! Ugh kill me, it’s so beautiful! He’s so cute. The faces that he makes❤️😂
A really good make over. Love it.
Really nice episode for people with small kitchen, could you please make one for organizing cooking utensils please.
Beautiful job! You guys are so funny together
Vaughn is super cute!!
I tried that once a long time ago.
wow i'm in love with these guys already!
This looks awesome. I was sad though when I found out the stove cover was made for him. I so was excited to get a link. Loved the jar idea.
Moisture, water around the sink, and heat near the stove or from hot dishes is gonna make that contact paper bubble like crazy, it being vinyl only helps with light water spillage.
BADASS! Even a tiny kitchen but it's awesome!🔥
Love the stove cover and the end result looks amazing! :)
I love this, this series is so inspiring!
I live in Las Vegas & need to do something with my kitchen. I wish u guys came out this way!
Lovely, LOVELY Job!! Thank you for sharing!! Xoxox
Cute little kitchen, nice job.
I recognize those coasters! They're from Target. They're really cute, but the metal cross on one of them popped off and I had to super glue it back on.
Great job. Beautiful blue cabinet doors. Latte wall color is nice too.
Chris's brain makes him rediculously attractive. As in: I could watch him work ---- for hours. Without losing interest. Anyone agree? And hes so damn positive. "Anyone can do it as long as they accurately measure!" Good human. Very good job on this. I love this guys reaction!!
I love that u make people happy. That makes my heart smile. You guys are awesome. 😁
Chris: It’s an easy project that anyone can do
Me: Wanna bet
