Awww...I have 2 Yorkies, one named Jack. I'd never heard him howl before. For the first time in 7-8 years, I took a trip for a week away from them. My sister watched them for me. While I was 2,000 miles away, I received an audio text from her. It was a recording of Jack howling because he missed me. I had never heard him howl before...not once. I kept playing that recording over and over again. It was the most pitiful sounding howl you'll every hear, and I felt sad for the little guy. Did I get a royal greeting when I came back? Oh yeah! It's good to be loved...
oh my gosh, i love it! im teaching my mother's dog how to "sing" (howl) whenever she comes home. all i have to do is say sing and howl a lil with him to get hom going, its so fun and adorable

We were gone in the morning for an hour or so and they told us he was howling for us! I was so surprised because my yorkie rarely ever barks or makes a sound! I was annoyed they didn't record him because I will never know!
I have a yorkie but he never howls, I've tried to show him(I have another dog). He cries but never howls. I'm actually considering taking him back to puppy school

My yorkie, Shanty, would howl at sirens. Coolest thing in the world. We live in a small town and the volunteer fire dept. had this old fashioned air-raid sire from WW2. When they summon their people, they ring this thing and Shanty would howl in tune. Beautiful.
All terriers do that howl lol , I had a jack Russell years ago and have a 15 year old cairn terrier right now they all do the same thing , adorable lol
I had a girl Yorkie named Glitter. When we were moving from Cali to Wisconsin, we went and lived with my mom them for the remaining 2 weeks before heading out to Wisconsin. She howled for the first time because she wanted to go home, back to our apartment. She passed away in March 2019, 6 months after we got to Wisconsin due to cancer. I miss her dearly. 😢❤️
It always amazes me the deep baritone sound the wee little yorkies can make when they howl. My yorkie sounds like a damn moose when he's left all alone and howls.
@trovial I have two dogs and a cat but my dog still acts like this when I leave. Its not a matter of having companions, he actually misses his owner. Whether it be out of concern for the pack or love, a dog can act like this even if he has 20 friends to play with.
We have a shorkie that has all of us totally trained and that’s ok because for her whole life she has been the defacto therapy dog for our daughter with a severe mental disability. She’s not really a dog, she’s a 4 legged tiny human😊👍🏼
I had a Yorkie- poo,and in10yrs, I never heard her howl,but now I have another 7yrs.old old Yorkie, dog,Diamond, ihave never heard her howl either,but she made this sound when she wants me to take her,or when she wants to go for walk in the mornings,she is so spoiled, but idont mind because i do not have any kids so she's my baby still at 7yrs.old. .
My yorkie Bella does this whenever mom goes to work 😂😂 I will attempt to upload it on a specific Tuesday if she does this, she's one crafty girl since she opens her doggie cage and basically does some pickpocketing with her claws to open it and she did open it and came upstairs for us
Id wait up the top of the steps very quietly and when the little bastard gets to the top step I'd swat it with a broom right back downstairs without it even touching a step. I guarantee the little bastard runs back into the cage !
My girl never howled until I was at my father's with her and my family visiting like 3,000 miles away. I went out and left her "sissy" with her and my Mom. My daughter called me saying Mama, you have to hear this!!! She went to sit by my door (and my Mother was really stunned about how loyal she was, apparently my parents though that she'd like my Mother more or something which didn't happen) and she only put up with that happy crappy of not seeing her Mama for all of 30 minutes. She howled for almost an hour. I didn't leave her again for the rest of the trip and she went with me anywhere I went.
We’ve wondered what our two Yorkies did when we left. We knew they went right to the window to watch us leave. We recorded them and after about 10 minutes at the window one of them started howling. Felt terrible. Rather had not known it.

If you want a loyal dog that is 100% devoted to you and your family get a Yorkie. I wasn't a believer until we got one.
