Having owned both a first gen and second gen CTS-V and now an M3 Comp xDrive, I love both of these cars and am glad that they exist. I’m sure xDrive would’ve flipped the overall result in this race but you gotta love that supercharged V8 in the CT5 and the ability to pair it with a manual transmission.
Having had a rwd m4 and now an xdrive is truly a different beast. Mine stock was doing a 2.8 sec 0-60. RWD only managed 3.5-3.7.. i like how yall kept it fair though it should always be rwd vs rwd and awd vs awd. Its just such a huge advantage in races like this.
3.5-3.7 RWD to 60 is more impressive to me than the 2.8 awd. Not that the seat of your pants feel is more exciting in the RWD, but getting the RWD version to get down to 3.5 is quite the accomplishment. 2.8 AWD is still bonkers in its own right though lol.

Blackwing Power did it's job...The M4 with way less HP, and tons less torque to even be close is great...and a testament to BMWs underrated HP. Get the xDrive to even things up and let's see what's what there.

By the numbers (speed at 1/4 and weight) the Caddy only makes 48 more HP. BMW is notorious for understating HP, about 90 in this case and the Caddy isn't proving to be making its claimed hp.
CT5-V Blackwings are so underrated, partially because the lack of advertising on GM’s part the same way they let down the “SS”! I wonder how much better this Blackwing would be with the Camaros 10 spd auto!?
One of the manufacturers is not stating the truth about horsepower if you noticed they both have the same 125 mile an hour trap speed in the quarter mile…..MPH is indicative to horsepower in the 1/4 mile especially with 165 hp difference
This is not accurate as XDrive vs Rwd is a different calculation. You're looking at higher traction. On paper yea, but in the real world, traction makes a difference.
They needed the top model Caddy to not get fully embarassed obviously. They even used the slower Rear wheel drive M4 instead of the Xdrive to give the Caddy an even bigger advantage. And it still lost 2 out of 3 races. Wonder how much Cadillac pays for these reviews.
Great race! You need to find an X-drive M3 or M4 though. Mine’s consistently running 3.0-3.1 0-60mph, 11.1 at 124mph bone stock. Half a second faster than the regular RWD comp.

Doesn't matter much, just goes to show how good BMW motors and engine/transmission tuning is, it's a 3.0l inline 6 vs a 6.2l V8, both with forced induction from the factory

The CT4 doesn't come with a V8. The CT5 will definitely lose to any M3/4 X Drive. The CT 5 should compete with the 5 Series and not the 4 Series. The M5 will definitely sh!t on any Caddy. Finally, who in their right mind would pick a cheap Chevy over a BMW?!

In case you didn't know, that's 503hp at the wheels on the bimmer... BMW has a tendency to bullshit about their hp figures... That thing's got around 560hp - 570hp.... So it's not THAT underpowered! When it comes to SC's, they tend to use 60 - 80hp to aid the engine... Simple math puts the BMW just 30 - 40 hp under the Caddy, add another 150Kg extra weight on the Caddy, well... there you have the race results and why the caddy was just a tad faster...

I've done 3.2 0-60mph in my blackwing. You launch in manual mode in 2nd gear then switch to auto really quick and it hooks up and sends. Did that last year at Bradenton, FL without VHT (unprepped surface) and ran an 11.2 @130mph other owners do that with 10 speeds

At the end of the day the black wing is faster . It’s a bad ass car . I own a ZL-1 Camaro just did land speed racing at loring AFB and with an 8 mile side / head wind it went 181 mph in 1.5 miles . It pulled like a train to the top … those engines are mean .
I love the concept of this series, but the only downfall is it’s always one driver is better than the other, I think in fairness to find out which car is better is to have two equally skilled drivers or maybe hire 2 professional drivers
I would like to see that too. Problem is the M4 makes truly over 100 hp more than the CT4 BW. The 472 or whatever it is for the CT4 is accurate, this M4 by the numbers in this test made about 596 crank hp. So even RWD vs. RWD the M4 is destroying the CT4.
John threw that last race, he had it around the turn but he got on it much harder on the wholeshot which caused it to twitch, unlike what he didn't do the 1st time. He likes the CTS-V more anyway so it's no surprise he made a mistake to allow the CTS to win
This is actually a nice garage combo. Bad ass sedan and coupe. Id get the G80 Xdrive though. I had BMW F10 M5 and Jaguar F Type R for almost 3 years and im missing them a little
The first race was thrown to get to the 3rd race. Caddy should have continued to pull which the first race didn’t. Caddy should have won all three races. Look at the second leg on race 2 and 3 vs race 1. Facts.
Everyone wants to say that the Xdrive would've won, but it doesn't matter. Both cars are rear-wheel drive, so the races are fair. The Blackwing won, that's it, no excuses.

Of the American cars that I have owned I have had 4 Corvette Z06’s and all of them have not been underrated at all, and these were all Dyno tested

Lot of factors. Altitude, temperature, track condition including a prepped surface. Drag strips have sticky, the runway they use doesn't.

Looks way better than the BMW. Always knew it would win here it beat the m5 CS around willow springs. And that car is faster than what is presented here. And now that there’s a precision package. The 2025 Black wing CT5 is faster still than shown here

And the Blackwing was in manual form, so if you got the auto caddy against the M5 CS with proper tires, the Blackwing would still smoke it

I’ve stoplight-raced the CT5-V Black with my M3 G80 Comp xDrive, multiple times, I have never lost. In fact, it’s not even close.

I always preferred CT4V / 5 over any m car M. They more rare, and the glorious V8 which is so rare these days. Can't beat the sound

We all know that BMW under rates their horsepower, but during the first race, there's no way in hell that that Cadillac doesn't have a malfunction somewhere because it's a Cadillac with over 160 more horsepower should have caught that BMW. 9:37

For being two different car brands they are totally even, very impressive.
In case you didn't know, that's 503hp at the wheels on the bimmer... BMW has a tendency to bullshit about their hp figures... That thing's got around 560hp - 570hp.... So it's not THAT underpowered!
When it comes to SC's, they tend to use 60 - 80hp to aid the engine...
Simple math puts the BMW just 30 - 40 hp under the Caddy, add another 150Kg extra weight on the Caddy, well... there you have the race results and why the caddy was just a tad faster...
also 100 HP more for the Cadillac...put a bmw with 690 HP and youu will see
And the Americans like to bullshit advertise fake HP numbers... I prefer the German way of doing things: under promise and over deliver.

The Bimmer has got 503 hp at the wheels, that's about 670hp at the crank
The Caddy's got around 540hp at the wheels after drivetrain loss and SC hp loss...
That puts the bimmer just 40hp shy of the caddy that weights 150kg more...

I've done 3.2 0-60mph in my blackwing. You launch in manual mode in 2nd gear then switch to auto really quick and it hooks up and sends. Did that last year at Bradenton, FL without VHT (unprepped surface) and ran an 11.2 @130mph other owners do that with 10 speeds

One Crude 60+ year old engine (over head valve pushrod huge displacement) vs a modern double overhead cam 4 valve engine of less than half the size beating it. Glad GM (and Chrysler)FINALLY is done with those engines.

At the end of the day the black wing is faster . It’s a bad ass car . I own a ZL-1 Camaro just did land speed racing at loring AFB and with an 8 mile side / head wind it went 181 mph in 1.5 miles . It pulled like a train to the top … those engines are mean .

I love the concept of this series, but the only downfall is it’s always one driver is better than the other, I think in fairness to find out which car is better is to have two equally skilled drivers or maybe hire 2 professional drivers

Shouldn't the race be between CT4-V Blackwing? The CT5-V Blacwing is more of an M5 competitor.
I would like to see that too. Problem is the M4 makes truly over 100 hp more than the CT4 BW. The 472 or whatever it is for the CT4 is accurate, this M4 by the numbers in this test made about 596 crank hp. So even RWD vs. RWD the M4 is destroying the CT4.
John threw that last race, he had it around the turn but he got on it much harder on the wholeshot which caused it to twitch, unlike what he didn't do the 1st time.
He likes the CTS-V more anyway so it's no surprise he made a mistake to allow the CTS to win

This is actually a nice garage combo. Bad ass sedan and coupe. Id get the G80 Xdrive though. I had BMW F10 M5 and Jaguar F Type R for almost 3 years and im missing them a little

It almost seems like the M4 was heat soaked after the first go. But, owning one, in xDrive with Carbon ceramics, as well, I know it stays pretty cool.
