Please do this with every hyped pallet launch! I loved getting to learn about brands and their single eyeshadows way more than basic hyped pallets that will die down in a month, plus it gives us the opportunity to buy the singles that we actually liked verses buying the ENITRE pallet. Love this Sam :)

Seriously though. Yeah it's a pretty palette but anyone who is slightly enthusiastic about makeup already owns it. The pops of color are some of the most over-done bright shades. Shimmer turquoise, hot pink, electric purple? Check, check, check. Hell, I already own the best hot pink IN THE WORLD. Why would I ever invite another one into my collection? White, mustard, bronze, warm peachy nudes and chocolate brown? Please, I've got a dozen. The real service this palette provides (and this extends to all new releases) is to inspire us to make new pairings from our current collection we may not have considered before because they weren't laid out together.

@@starlitfloraIt's the one from the Juvia's Place Masquerade Palette, I think it was called Bori? It's depotted now so I can't recall for sure. It's astoundingly vibrant and saturated and blends like nobody's business. It's perfect for me.

Victoria Ruid my no buy is going well! i am semi-broke; trying to save $ to get my fam on a proper vacation. i have enough eyeshadows to last me for aaaages. it’s overwhelming. i’ve given away a few palettes, using up my mini-hoard of samples. i stocked up on necessities over the holidays, so it’s been great. i won’t “need” sponges, brushes, lipstick, cotton balls, most basics/skin care... honestly anything except (possibly) mascara.
i won’t lie, i’m a sucker for nail polish but have only bought 1 so far in 2019!

This is an amazing idea! I'm sure many people couldn't afford/didn't buy the palette but still wanted to play with the color combinations. I find myself doing this a lot because I can't afford to get a new palette every new release, but it's still fun to play with the colors
This is so fantastic. I really like that you're not pushing to buy, buy, buy all the time. It's refreshing because I think it reminds people that they already have over half the colors already in this "new" palette. Very refreshing

Sam, I LOVE how much of your personality is present in your videos. I also really appreciate that you're being honest about how NO PR is expensive when you're running a YT channel full time. It is definitely easy to forget that's the case but that's the reality for most consumers, even beauty lovers. While new releases might be beautiful, we don't need every new thing that is out. I like that you're duping the vibes with what you have and admitting that if you were to purchase everything you want/get requested, it would be extraordinarily more expensive, and you're already spending a fair chunk of change. Please do more of these types of videos. I would personally appreciate one on the new Natasha Denona pallet that's coming out. I keep lusting after her pallets (mainly her color stories) but NOTHING is going to be worth $129 in my current financial status.
Bri Gutierrez yessssss I would love a Natasha denona dupe series like this! I feel like a lot of dupe videos they only Swatch side by side and all that does for me is prove to me that they're not really the same lol. But by doing this video it instead gave me so much inspiration that I really can just go in and use the similar colors.
This idea is obviously brilliant for so many reasons. So many palettes have the same shades, so many people can’t afford to buy new palettes, everyone wants to know what good dupes are, we’re using makeup we already own, getting inspired by color schemes of new palettes. Love this idea! Temptalia has fantastic lists of dupes for pretty much every color and I love the idea of less consumption and using what you already have. Whatever shadow that dupe for Bahamas is is just gorgeous!
Ed to add that upon further reflection I now want to purchase all of your dupes! That would certainly not save me any money so maybe I should just buy the dang Riviera palette and spend many months crying about how fast the beautiful color got all dirty the second I removed it from it’s box.

YES Dupe The Vibes!!! This is my favorite 'trend' I've seen with some smaller/minimalist/no-buy channels.I LOVE it. It's honestly way more creative and inspiring than just buying the palette and playing with what they give you. Please make this a series.
I clicked on this fast it says no views 😂 every time ABH comes out with a new palette I want it so bad it hurts but I don't always feel like I can justify it. Okay I can never justify it 😭 I just buy it anyways. But now I feel inspired to try to dupe it with what I already own
I love this idea of shopping your makeup for dupes from a big beauty TH-camr! Noone talks about using what they own as much as they should and we have this huge hype of more more more that's EXHAUSTING.

These brands might be done with u for good for showing people u don’t have to run out and buy everything that gets released in the makeup world. Every time a new palette comes out I feel like I already have all the colors in it or at least something very close. Another girl said it best “we want tutorials, not a sales pitch.” I honestly don’t know how or why u don’t have 5 million plus subscribers. U r the realest person on you tube!!! I literally watch every video u make even if the actual content doesn’t interest me that much. U r such a breath of fresh air for the youtube beauty community. Love this idea to focus more on colors/themes than the actual palette. Also maybe another idea would be functional dupes, types of shades that look good together in general regardless of if it's an exact match or not.

Sam. You are KILLING IT. What a CONCEPT!! Please continue to do this type of video for major hyped up releases. This is so much more realistic and relatable! I’ve made the mistake way too many times of buying a new palette only to realize once I get it home that I already have basically the same thing just in different packaging or across several other palettes. We DON’T need every new release, we just need to know how to use what we already have and get re-excited about it.

When yhe modern renaissance palette was released and sold out, I found a chart of colourpop singles that were dupes and bought those. I actually like that better coz I can replace the one colour I hit pan on!

This is bringing back to the SUPER old days of beauty TH-cam where the youtuber would do looks and just describe the kind of color they were using rather than a specific product. Idk it just helped with the feeling that you didn't NEED to go out and buy a certain product to recreate a look, but you could just find a shadow/lipstick/blush within your collection or from any brand you could afford/access to create the same effect that the people you were watching could create.
