Brown eyeshadow looks good on every eye color and every eyeshadow color looks good on brown eyes! Brown is underrated and does not deserve constant reference to poop
True. But brown eyes still have undertones (yellow for light brown, orange for medium, and red for dark brown) and certain colors still can make brown eyes pop. The eyeshadow colors that look the best on my medium brown eyes are blues and some greens - the most unwearable eyeshadows to wear. Whereas, neutral wearable brown eyeshadows look amazing on blue and green eyes. So I still wish my eyes were a different color.

Puffy Cloud Wrong. Warm toned green, yellow, etc. make brown eyes pop. Green especially, because brown eyes are red toned, and green and red are complimentary colors. :)

Thank you SO MUCH, Samantha. I used to follow your posts when I began delving into makeup 6 years ago and I JUST found you again. This helped more than anything I've come across and made me realize the value of knowing what you're doing with color before jumping on every product that sparkles at me, thinking it's gonna apply itself perfectly.
i'm so happy you explained everything so well bc it really bothers me when people complain about colors getting muddy when blending but theyre trying to blend complementary colors! Esp when it comes to pressed pigments (cough cough subculture)
Also I'm now definitely going to work on building a big ass colour wheel palette of singles. I bought a magnetic palette online that was way larger than I expected, and now I finally have a use for it!
Awesome video. This is going to help so many people be more confident in doing their makeup and experimenting. Why did you even doubt yourself. You literally explain a whole class I took in 25 minutes 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Just now getting back into it & I feel like a newborn giraffe with a palette & 5 vaguely similar brushes. Yeah, I like your instructional videos😄💕
This video is so freeing. I have dark brown eyes and I’ve always felt like I was doing something wrong if I used a color that I had been told was “good for blue eyes or green eyes.” I learned all about color theory in film school, but for some reason it never dawned on me to apply it to makeup. D’oh. Thanks for such an informative video!!

Soooo, I truly believe you could be an educator. Not just for makeup - you speak so eloquently, and you are so articulate, you could totally be an amazing teacher/professor/instructor etc. I know you have talked a lot about losing your passion for your current job lately, but you have a LOT to offer, and a talent you could literally take in any direction. I really enjoyed this video, I thought I already knew about the color wheel, but you have gone so far in depth, I am like whoa. I had no idea....
It’s been 84 years *in Titanic old lady voice* This video is actually so interesting it was worth the wait. I’m surprised people don’t know the colour wheel.
When you were talking about mixing with your basics I was reminded of the approach I took when I first started painting in middle school: I didn't have a lot of money so I just bought 3 primaries and black and white. I learned so much more about how to look at and understand color by using only those pigments to make my work, and I'm glad you brought it in with makeup!! I've never been very ambitious with my eye makeup but you're inspiring me to try out new things, thank you
Mariah Leonard I think this pairs wonderfully with your eyeshadow palette video! It’s almost as if you were explaining further down the color theory journey!
You definitely did not fail the subject. I think you did a wonderful job explaining everything Sam! Also can't stop staring at your amazing eye makeup in this video!

More interesting rambles! I'm down for a 15 part series.
Aight. Now I can go to any MAC store and put them employees to shame with my newly acquired PhD in Color Theory. Thanks, Sam!😂❤
i'm so happy you explained everything so well bc it really bothers me when people complain about colors getting muddy when blending but theyre trying to blend complementary colors! Esp when it comes to pressed pigments (cough cough subculture)
Yes. Total pet peeve.
Also I'm now definitely going to work on building a big ass colour wheel palette of singles. I bought a magnetic palette online that was way larger than I expected, and now I finally have a use for it!
Ahhhh I've wanted a TH-cam video talking about color theory and eyeshadow in depth for so long!!! This is so good!!
The video we've been waiting for. Finally got that pesky pr out of your way clogging up you creativity.
LET'S DO THIS
Awesome video. This is going to help so many people be more confident in doing their makeup and experimenting. Why did you even doubt yourself. You literally explain a whole class I took in 25 minutes 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
LOVING your content lately! You are phenomenal at explaining everything! Love it! Thank you so much!
I seriously love this streak you have going of educational makeup videos. As someone who loves makeup as a hobby and wants to learn more but doesn’t want to pay to go to school, this is amazing. Seriously thank you so much. And please keep making more!
You are a phenomenal teacher!
Literally got done watching this video and said out loud, that was a f****** fantastic video.
Now I need to print out a colour wheel and stick it on my vanity mirror 😆
same!
Great idea 👌
Your last point 1000% explains why I hate blue eyeshadow on my green eyes so much!!
Ilise Kundel I feel you! I can only wear browns and neutrals ... I love navy eyeshadow but it just doesn’t work! 😔
...I love blue eyeshadow on mine...
Navy shadow and liner looks great on my green eyes!
Shar M I have green eyes too and navy doesn’t look that bad, it’s basically just another neutral color, but it has to be done with a light hand... Any other shade of blue looks atrocious on me.
Youuuu just demystified the makeup magic that I've been searching for for so many years, THANK YOU!! I just shared this with all of my sisters and my bestie because lawd knows we had to learn how to do makeup the old fashioned way; watching our moms before the dawn of TH-cam, Instagram or even Google lol. You da real MVP girl!
This was really informative and VERY well explained!!!! ❤️
I did enjoy this! I learned quite a bit. Honestly, I'm 51, stumbled through teenage makeup through the mid 1980's then bailed out on any type of eyeshadow for like 15 yrs. Just now getting back into it & I feel like a newborn giraffe with a palette & 5 vaguely similar brushes. Yeah, I like your instructional videos😄💕
I still remember your r/makeupaddiction post about color theory - this is literally years in the making! I’m so excited!
same!!
Thank you. By far this is the most intelligent you tube makeup video ever - what a breath of fresh air! Love ya!
Sam, you're the number one TH-camr I have found that has taught me some mad skills I didn't think of before. This video made me have a badass makeup day just like you're backwards foundation video. I'm grateful for you sharing your knowledge, sincerely thank you!!!
Ooooh I’m going to reorganize my colourful eyeshadows into a colour wheel, that was so aesthetically pleasing. Sam pssst make a palette that looks exactly like that and I’ll buy it.
I studied colour theory in depth in University. It does get complicated!. This video was great!... xXx
Colours with white added: Tint
Colours with black added: Shade
Never heard anyone explaining colour theory this easy and making it so incredibly interesting!!!
Sam you crushed this video! Seriously, I learned so much.
Eyeshadow terrifies me but this just opened my eyes! I think can move on from just applying neutrals 😂
Finally I can use my abh lip palette properly 😂👌🏼 thanks Sam!
Emily Swan this was exactly what I was thinking 😂
My thoughts exactly!!!!
It’s been 84 years *in Titanic old lady voice*
This video is actually so interesting it was worth the wait.
I've never been very ambitious with my eye makeup but you're inspiring me to try out new things, thank you
Please keep adding to this kind of a video!! Very good information!!
I have learned on this day. This was soooo helpful!
Mariah Leonard I think this pairs wonderfully with your eyeshadow palette video! It’s almost as if you were explaining further down the color theory journey!
The knowledge you have in makeup is actually mind blowing and very helpful. God I love you so much.
ANOTHER VIDEO? WE ARE SO BLESSED WE DONT EVEN KNOW
You definitely did not fail the subject. I think you did a wonderful job explaining everything Sam! Also can't stop staring at your amazing eye makeup in this video!
I just started getting interested in color palettes and this was such a great tool. I feel like I have a different idea of how to look at my colors now. I LOVE that you are a TH-cam who focuses on educating us about makeup not constantly selling. Love you Sam!! Xo
being asian, my eyes are so dark brown they are almost black, thank you for making me love them again sam ♥️♥️
Before you put on lipstick I was staring at your lips trying to figure out what color would compliment your eyeshadow best, and when you put on that wine colored lipstick... biiiiiiitch. You’re a genius!
I'm new to your channel. But have been actively binge watching for the last couple days. This is legit the most helpful makeup video I have EVER watched! Appreciate all the helpful info. Looking forward to applying these tips to my makeup game lol
I know color theory inside and out from doing hair, but it's so interesting to hear it applied to makeup! Thank you for making awesome content.
Ive been doing my make up and watching make up videos and tutorials for YEARS and this is by far the most useful video ever! Wow I feel like I can pull off any eye look now. Love it!! Thank you so much 👏🏻
