Yes, but it's also pure "you only pull the pigtails of the one you love." He wouldn't do it if he didn't truly love and care about her, he just has a rather immature way of showing it at times. To me, this scene sets his big monologue/rant at Carnegie Hall. He wants her to succeed.

Why the producers decide that a strip club was where the show had to go? This is what killed this series - especially for me!! No longer a fan Of this show and I haven’t watched any more episodes - sad……
