  • This week I am in maybe my favourite place ever with my buddy Cam and we go and explore some water that rarely gets fished to see what is there. If hunting big brown trout in ultra clear, small water is what you like, then grab a coffee and chuck this on the big screen in HD! Part one of 2..!!

    Alex! Your videos are soooooo amazing! I can not express how fondly I feel about the way you capture the raw and pure eats of trout in the ecosystem of New Zealand. You truly are very talented at teaching, expressing, and promoting the arts of true fly fishing. Coming from a fly fisherman of many years, you are a very big inspiration to dive deeper and deeper into the world of fly fishing. The one thing that I would love to see more in your videos and thumb nails(thumbnails) is, when you hold the fish very much like you hold the fish in your cover photo on your account page. I personally love to see the fishes tail and I feel like most people do. Every fish deserves as much of itself to be shown as it can for as little time as possible(for the health of the trout). You know how to hold fish in very healthy and safe ways, I just personally believe that for the fish, it is best held the way you hold the fish in your cover photo. If you choose to do this more or not I will not entirely care. Either way I will continue to watch and encourage people to watch your videos. You are very amazing.

      Thanks heaps for the comment and kind works man, appreciate it.
      The main reason I hold fish the way I do is that I have better control of the fish that way so if it starts to struggle at all, I can handle it better and way less chance of dropping it and potentially damaging it.
      I agree that seeing the tail as well looks great but I’ll always air on the side of fish welfare and therefore go with that. I will however try to get some shots of tails in the vids so you get to see that too. Thanks for the support 🙏

    • @slamlosa
      @slamlosa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TrippinOnTrout Ahhh I see. I have never looked at it like that. I can only imagine how hard it would be to control the fish when they are as big as the ones you catch! The health of the fish is the most important so I reckon I will think about that more when I hold fish as well. Thanks for commenting back, keep doing what you do brotha!

      @@slamlosa No worries bro, it just works better for me that way. Maybe try it and make your own mind up as to what works best for you (and the fish)!!

    Sorry Alex but I couldn't let you get away with this one! What you should have said was Loch Leeven strain not Leven. I know, we speak a funny way here in the old country and we spell funny as well but that's just the way it is. Don't bother thanking us for the Gorse (or the rats, cats stoats and pigs) we love it here as well!
    I claim to be an expert (not) on the loch as I worked on it as an ecologist for many years before they tried stocking it with diseased rainbows and made a mess of it. Most of my work involved insect productivity studies and, believe me, I know what a Chironomid larva looks like. At one time I was even dreaming about them.
    I really enjoyed the video. You guys really seemed to be having a fun time.
    Tom

    When you are fishing solo, what's your quickfire camera setup for the out of net shot ? Great vids by the way.

    Best channel, great video and instruction! What is your "wader" setup in this video? You both seem to be in shorts and some kind of leggings. You mention you got pretty cold waiting for that one killer fish... are your feet in booties? Air temp? Best to you from Deschutes, Oregon.

      Thanks bro.
      They are just thermal base layer leggings under the shorts and yeah I wear neoprene wading socks in my boots too. That day was cold for wet wading.... maybe 8/9 degrees C plus wind chill🤷‍♂️

    Hi, pal been watching your videos religiously as I tie over the last 4 months. I am working on a new range of streamer patterns and wondered if you would like to try some. You don't have to include them in any videos and there would be no cost to you just would appreciate your feedback on them as I value your opinion. If it's legal for you to receive flies internationally, I'd love to send you some. Kind Regards. Gareth
