We get those grand marquis with anywhere from 30k to 75k . And they always seem to get them serviced at the dealer . Great cars !!! We always sell them and do great
Manheim isn’t allowing any sort of scan tools on the lots anymore so people can’t clear codes. They still can outside the gates but the car is usually started enough times or idles long enough that any cleared codes will reappear. A trick is to start and turn off the car 4-5 times to cycle the computer.
They can still be cleared by disconnecting the battery. Whether or not that's something that could be done on the lot by the seller I don't know, but a scan tool isn't the only way to do it.
@@GrandPrix46 if you “clear” codes with the battery disconnect method a scanner can tell you that it was done. It will show as a low voltage code. Or multiple. I just bought an S550 that had over 50 low voltage codes and an airbag light because the PO let it sit in his driveway for a few weeks without driving it. . And some scanners will also tell you when a code was cleared with a scanner.
@@bebin73 but how will you hook up a scan tool to a car on the lot in Manheim in the first place? You said they don't allow them. You can tell the codes were cleared no matter how they were cleared because the readiness cycles won't be complete, some vehicles take multiple drive cycles and have more criteria to complete them than you could manage in a parking lot. But since you can't use a scan tool on the lot you'll never know until you've already bought it and either start driving it, or running diagnostics.
@@GrandPrix46 some people sneak them in. Some use their iPhones to scan. There are apps and wireless OBD plugs. Sometimes cars can be arbitrated so after the sale the buying dealer can scan the car and arbitrate it for hidden issues.
@@bebin73 when I made the comment about disconnecting the battery to clear the codes, it was made assuming scan tools were out of the picture because you said they weren't allowed on the lot. If you sneak one in, then by all means use that to clear the codes instead of disconnecting the battery, lol. You will also HAVE to sneak a scan tool in to see if a vehicle has had the codes cleared before bidding on it, because there is no other way you will be able to tell (whether they used a scan tool or disconnected the battery to clear them). It seems like in Craig's case, there was nothing he could do about it after the purchase, which sucks.
I drove the Mercury Capri from Fort Benning Georgia to San Antonio, Texas in sixteen hours at a hundred and ten miles an hour most of the way . No problems with two other guys in the car with me taking driving turns. Crazy little car . Scary fast for such a little car. Strong engine and standard transmission. Great on gas!!! Someone will buy that car.
You should have bought the Grand Marquis. They're dead reliable. They like the CVPI have a few issues but once you take care of those the car will last forever. A new buyer would've got a great car.
Craig, I like your videos. I work for used car dealer in NJ. The Honda probably needs a brake light switch (it's on the pedal bracket). Put some Lucas in the Infiniti n take er back to the auction, lol. It is a scummy business, we get cars all the time with lights on from auctions and bid lots with fuses missing and things unplugged cuz someone else wanted the car. Probably happens everywhere
Fun video. That Toyota will shine up like a penny once you get rid of the aftermarket rotted out steel parts. Honda, I would have passed based on the bologna slicks on the front of it. Anybody driving with tires like that and you know how they treated the rest of the car. Infinity, too old, too many miles to mess with without firs looking it over. Hopefully it turns out well.
Love your videos but you knew better. Of course the Infiniti has a transmission issue, timing issues as well, its a Nissan. Most of those 6 cyl transmissions are junk, not just the CVT. Great score on the FJ and Honda.
I would personally stick with Suburbans and Tahoes with the V8 in them. They are reliable and parts are everywhere. The only downside is that sometimes the cylinder delete system fails but I've heard that a kit exists to eliminate it. You lose the fuel economy of being able to run on 4 cylinders instead of 8 but you gain reliability. Everyone loves em. You could even become THE used Tahoe guy of your area. I can picture chevy coming to you to set up an authorized GM mechanic and parts shop.
Thank you for telling us what you paid at auction.... I share all ones you do that in with friends.... As a curious guy , love to know what stuff goes for and all work you put in ... Great job...
Sorry to see the troubles. The positive is it shows us how these kinds of situations are the nature of the game! I stay away from Nissans. After 2003-ish, the reliability went down the tubes! Renault? The VQ35DE suffers reliability issues, as do all the automatic trans!

Please keep us posted on the accord, I am looking into buying one almost identical to that and would love some dealer insight on it, and how to fix potential problems!
Those 8th gen accord I-4 are bulletproof. I see many with 200-300k and they still run fine. Only issue is some had oil burn (yes the I4)..other than that its a solid car and your right you cannot go wrong with a Honda, everyone wants em.
But that jeep originally came with good tires but he switch them with the tires from the other jeep that wasn’t part of the 400 dollar flip so he shouldn’t pay the new tires with the money from the challenge
Honda's do have transmission issues, but they all do if neglected. I purchased an ES300 Lexus 10 years ago, with 120k not knowing it needed a new transmission.
I’m wondering if the market is vastly different there than in the Midwest. Any car I’ve ever bought for $5k or less I can double my money on. I’m thinking you’re not asking enough. You can always come down, but you can’t go up! Also do you finance? That’s another good way to get $ on kickbacks from the banks.
"Who wants a Dodge Neon?" True but different people different things. Good first car and low miles. My dad only drove to the bus station so that kind of thing would be all he would buy
You should bring an obd2 scanner with you to the auction (if that's allowed) to check for stored codes. You can even get the blue tooth obd2 dongles that slip into your pocket so you can get codes on your phone and nobody will see you do it.
Believe Craig buys without looking over the cars very closely mainly due to shear volume of cars at the auction. It is intimidating when you go and there is 500-1000 cars running through for the day at some of the larger auctions.
Joe Pierson at the auction the cheap scanners are perfect to check and see if the check engine light was cleared, the drive cycle monitor will show as incomplete
I keep buying Copart salvage titles that I do end up making money on but they take so much time I’m wondering if that’s smart. I just see cars that I know should be saved
Your making money which means your buying the right vehicles at the right price, most people could never turn a profit with a salvage vehicle so your doing something right, but I’d suggest you buy both clean and salvage when your money allows for it👍
My 2005 acura el has the same problem as your accord I am hoping you guys tell me how you fixed it!!! (I was also suspecting the neutral safety switch)
I’m very interested in your videos, How do you normally transport all the cars back to your shop. I’ve been binge watching a lot of them, I haven’t seen ideas or the best way for a single person to transport a couple cars efficiently
craig you are a bad influence! i just bought a 2000 chevy c5 corvette from inspiration from your flood vette you sold for 13,500! god are they fun tho!

as soon as saw how far back the seat was in that Infiniti I wasn't surprised by the weed smell. One day those things will be pretty rare. I rarely see one that not's ratted out by broke drivers nowadays. there's an abandoned one a couple of blocks from me that is starting to lose wheels, taillights, front bumper etc etc. Altima coupes too which is a shame because I like 'em and can't afford a nice one right now.
Hey man I know it might make things more time consuming by some extent, but they make scan tools that can run a diagnostic on cars before you buy them and do a really good scan on the engine and transmission to give you a better idea of what's going on with the cheaper cars you buy. The initial investment would be a bit but I feel like in the long run it could really help you to avoid cars like the g35x, I've been watching for a while and love the content so I figured I'd mention it to you :)
Problem with scan tools is a car will come up with 20 codes and none of them will be serious, it may take 10 minutes to upload the data and another 20 minutes to figure out that there not serious. As a dealer you need to look at hundreds of cars in a day, the best scan tool is you driving it.

Maybe it's obvious to some, but I value the wear advice like looking at the brake pedal or the wear on the side of the driver seat. Nice tips
You should have bought the Grand Marquis. They're dead reliable. They like the CVPI have a few issues but once you take care of those the car will last forever. A new buyer would've got a great car.
From an fj owner I look forward to the fj video love these trucks
Craig, I like your videos. I work for used car dealer in NJ. The Honda probably needs a brake light switch (it's on the pedal bracket). Put some Lucas in the Infiniti n take er back to the auction, lol. It is a scummy business, we get cars all the time with lights on from auctions and bid lots with fuses missing and things unplugged cuz someone else wanted the car. Probably happens everywhere
Great tip!
Love the FJ Cruiser, and the manual trans! Well done!
Love this channel. I’m so glad I came across it. Great videos Craig.
Can't wait to see the Toyota FJ cruiser transformation!
If you get those rusty FJ bumpers sandblasted and recoated they could look like new again. Maybe in a matte finish or rhino liner to hide the pitting?
Thank you for telling us what you paid at auction.... I share all ones you do that in with friends.... As a curious guy , love to know what stuff goes for and all work you put in ... Great job...
No entrada 😂 love your videos saludos from costa Rica 🇨🇷 . Keep doing what you doing 💪
Sorry to see the troubles. The positive is it shows us how these kinds of situations are the nature of the game!
I stay away from Nissans. After 2003-ish, the reliability went down the tubes! Renault? The VQ35DE suffers reliability issues, as do all the automatic trans!
Nice recovery from cost of the tires .....nicely done. :)
Hey I have a 94 Capri I LOVE my Capri super fun cars shoulda nabbed it they are so fun they are actually based of the Mazda 323 chassis b6t is similar to the b6 in the 90-93 Miata just with a factory turbo
Looking to make my first Car Flip in the coming week. Thank you for all the Knowledge been studying your channel this past 2 months. Excited to see what I produce in the next 90 days. 🙌🙌
How’s business Craig?? I’m in Philadelphia pa and we’re killing it . We don’t finance but we accept bank financing but mostly $cash . We been doing 2/ 3 a day . Cash 💵 . Amazing with all this going on we’re busy in sales / slammed in repairs . I’m just thankful .
Looking forward to the fj video. Hopefully the transmission is something simple
You and I are very alike . We both love to buy cars just to drive it and say we had the car . Usually old cool interesting cars that other people don’t look twice on . No wonder I love your videos.
Love the FJ, bought my kid a honda coupe from an copart auction, still driving it!!! Hope you had a good ninja run.....
Had 4 old cars traded them all in got new venza and serento hybrids . Got good values for all the used cars. Got a nice semiconductor stock doing well .
Look forward to hearing your new program
In the grocery business it's the same choice slow dollars or fast quarters.
We work on volume
Love the series. Tough luck with the check engine
Love you videos bro.... Learn so much from you
Nutz n boltz garage is a channel that does the super cheap cars on youtube. I watch flying wheels for the exciting, expensive, fun cars.
Dang, I really love the car business. I would love to get a dealer license, but I already have a GOOD full time career I am not going to give up. My state makes it VERY hard to do part time.
I have a good full time career but I think i’m going to go crazy sitting at a desk all day much linger
I would use the Lucas transmission conditioner on the Nissan Maxima.
Yeah two week flips ... i wish :D i have a 2005 Toyota Yaris one owner, no rust, new brakes, tires and sway bar links ... listed for 1500 for 4 months now and no bite .... and Yamaha 2010 YBR 250 for 2500 and BMW 2013 320xd new timing high trim for 130000 and 2005 Passat for 2750 and nobody :(
Which country?

This is a real smart dude...he understands math and wat makes since...goes very deep into detail
sense
Didn't know dis was a spelling test...wats my grade sir..
my t-shirt arrived today !!! thanks Craig !!! love it!!!
thanks for the support!
That's a bummer, I've had to G 35's and they were great. My current Maxima has 110,000 miles and runs like new
Please keep us posted on the accord, I am looking into buying one almost identical to that and would love some dealer insight on it, and how to fix potential problems!
Those 8th gen accord I-4 are bulletproof. I see many with 200-300k and they still run fine. Only issue is some had oil burn (yes the I4)..other than that its a solid car and your right you cannot go wrong with a Honda, everyone wants em.
I'm worried about all the rusty accessories on the FJ. Toyota is great but has had some serious frame rust issues.
they are all aftermarket
Awesome video - keep them coming!
But that jeep originally came with good tires but he switch them with the tires from the other jeep that wasn’t part of the 400 dollar flip so he shouldn’t pay the new tires with the money from the challenge
glad the audio issues got resolved!
Another great video. Entertaining and I always learn something. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
Honda's do have transmission issues, but they all do if neglected. I purchased an ES300 Lexus 10 years ago, with 120k not knowing it needed a new transmission.
Good information on cars I love the vibe
Can’t wait for the FJ video. 👍🏻 hopefully there is not a bunch of rust underneath. Good buy
N00b question. If "nobody is around" and you take some cars for a little spin to check gear changes. Why aren't you running codes with your scanner?
I’m wondering if the market is vastly different there than in the Midwest. Any car I’ve ever bought for $5k or less I can double my money on. I’m thinking you’re not asking enough. You can always come down, but you can’t go up! Also do you finance? That’s another good way to get $ on kickbacks from the banks.
Don’t always like your technique of selling cars but always enjoy the content
"Who wants a Dodge Neon?"
True but different people different things. Good first car and low miles. My dad only drove to the bus station so that kind of thing would be all he would buy
FWIW, the seats in the Yukon/Tahoe were the same for that entire generation. They were only perforated when it had front cooled seats.
love your channel, keep up the grind, also I appreciate your editing i love the quality makes it feel more real
Brooooo the '84 Mercury Capri was sick as hell.... I had one back in 1994, came with a subwoofer under the seat and a nasty ass boss 302, would rip
This was before they made that little 4 cylinder version you're checking out haha
@@mph5896 I'm sure he can send German or one of his techs to look some over during viewing before the day of.
Scan tools are really not that practical for cheap cars many have codes that are meaningless
Joe Pierson at the auction the cheap scanners are perfect to check and see if the check engine light was cleared, the drive cycle monitor will show as incomplete
@@mph5896 my point was you make the most money on cheap cars that have engine codes
I keep buying Copart salvage titles that I do end up making money on but they take so much time I’m wondering if that’s smart. I just see cars that I know should be saved
Your making money which means your buying the right vehicles at the right price, most people could never turn a profit with a salvage vehicle so your doing something right, but I’d suggest you buy both clean and salvage when your money allows for it👍
Love watchin' Craig wheel & deal!
thanks!
My 2005 acura el has the same problem as your accord I am hoping you guys tell me how you fixed it!!! (I was also suspecting the neutral safety switch)
Watched your vid saying cars are high right now. I then found an 09 jetta for $1000 got ir for $750. Less than $500 into it. Great condition
Nice deal!
I’m very interested in your videos, How do you normally transport all the cars back to your shop. I’ve been binge watching a lot of them, I haven’t seen ideas or the best way for a single person to transport a couple cars efficiently
Beautiful FJ. Diamond in the rough with a little bit of lovin
FJ will be a good project. Take off all the rusty parts etc and replace. Do a little body work and make that money 💰
Great Channel love your content!!@
Thx!
You did pretty good today and no matter what you do there’s going to be some slip ups it’s what you do after you slip
Just getting started with my car lot. But scared that wont be able to pay 3k a month just for rent. Any advice? Love your videos!!
...know your numbers...follow your opportunities and not your passions...
Love these auction vids!
Glad you like them!
Those cheap cars and the series is good content!! lol I like watching you deal with the stuff.
craig you are a bad influence! i just bought a 2000 chevy c5 corvette from inspiration from your flood vette you sold for 13,500! god are they fun tho!
From real estate to cars it seems like every market is on fire right now. Hopefully inflation doesn't eat us alive and prices stabilize next season. Keep it up Craig you're crushing it!
as soon as saw how far back the seat was in that Infiniti I wasn't surprised by the weed smell.
Part 13 ! Lets go !!!!
Excited to see what you do with that Toyota!
This thursday
How much did you pay for the Dinali and the 2010 accord?
