    I had an Asus zephyr for about 2 years. It was great BUT I could not upgrade the ram or storage or anything.. It was dependable. I went to Europe for a total of 3 months over 2 years.
    I gave it up for an Asus TUFF for the benefit of 32 g of ram and the possibility of updating the 500 MG of ssd storage. I will be in Central Europe from Nov. 8 2021 to Jan 10 2022 (don't worry, I have mailed in my ballot and will be working as a poll worker on Nov. 3 in Newark, NJ)

    Ben, First of all I have to say that of the 4 to 6 videos I watched, yours are the only ones that seem to understand what is important. I don't care about how cool the laptop looks. You are the only one that covers color gamut range. That seems to be the most important. I do have some questions that will help me.
    Is the gamut range a function of the display, the processer or storage? I currently use a monitor (though I may want to replace that) and calibrate it before editing. I am guessing that if the monitor is the primary factor, the quality of the display is very important. If it isn't the display, I should look at other aspects. What do you think. Tom Turkenkopf

I just bought today it because it was on sale. I'll be editing1080p, and occasional 4K. I'm not sure of the color gamut specs. Plus those eyes and hair ... ugh... kill me now :) I'm going with the Acer Predator Triton 300 - it basically has the specs that you've listed for the Gigabyte Aero... and I don't think I'll be rendering out heavy 4K stuff and if I do I can upgrade my RAM to 32. Thank you for the video. I have though a suggestion to make. I think it is absolutely wrong to recommend laptops with a integrated gpu (shared vRam) for video editing. A dedicated gpu with its own vRam of at least 2GB (normal 4 GB) is a must for video editing, even for advanced 1080p. About the system ram i think most software providers recommend 16 GB of ram. I have to agree with you for the best laptop for the buck been the HP Omen Ryzen 7.

    I've purchased many laptops over the year's. I noticed that none of them last more than a few year's. That's why I'll never spend more than 700$ on them. I think if you want something high end you're better off investing in a desktop because they're usually fixable. In a way smartphones kind of replaced laptops. Samsung phones have dex and can be used as a computer. So if you have a nice Samsung galaxy phone you technically don't even need a laptop because they can edit 4k video. Even my note 9 has 8g of ram and 500gb of space. Just my opinion 🤷.

    • @victoriamarkova2992
      @victoriamarkova2992 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I read that an average "life" of a laptop is 4 years, a desktop - 6, but that one you can update/upgrade so indeed in long term I would also invest in a desktop.

    • @shenmue5507
      @shenmue5507 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@victoriamarkova2992 I'm honestly surprised that it's 4 year's. Most laptops are cheaply made. I don't see the point in them anymore unless you need one for traveling or work. We literally have computers in are pockets now with internet access so what's the point 🤔.

    • @victoriamarkova2992
      @victoriamarkova2992 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shenmue5507 Indeed some are really cheaply made, tho I see some have prioritised premium materials - in a different price range. Regarding the laptop - I think it depends on the lifestyle as you say. For example my spouse and I are not sure where we will be living or whether we will be moving soon, so I kind of have to get a laptop untill we settle in one place permanently. If we already had a house - I would enjoy making my own desktop, with a dedicated work space, desk and all the accessories that come alongside :))) Now I am really not sure how am I gonna move the desktop if I have it. I have terrible experience - at work around 10 PCs were packed and transfered to another country - all arrived literally destroyed and unusable ;/ Witnessing that kind of a disaster made me scared to transport PCs. Ofc, that is my personal experience, that is why I am heading towards the laptop at the moment and looking forward to having a PC in a few years

    Hi! Thank you for sharing this.
    I'm wondering what you think about this one:
    MSI Creator 15 15,6" FHD
    GeForce RTX 3060, Core i7-10870H, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, Windows 10 Pro
    Is this a laptop you would recommend?
    I don't know what the sRGB is, but I know it has 100% Adobe RGB.

    Are we to assume that there are outboard drives for raw video and rendered video? Or are you doing everything on the onboard drive.

    Hope you can help.Merry Christmas..mostly I need a faster way to run mp4's or mkv to mp4 on handbrake. Rightnow it takes as long to run a movie through Handbrake than it does to watch the movie. Is there something I should use that runs faster than Handbrake?

    If you mentioned SSD's in sata Vs nvme, which laptops have which, it would mean a lot for further performance, too.

    I’ve been leaning on the MacBook Pro 16” $2799 i9, 1Tb base spec’d to 8Gb vram & 32gb ddr4 ($3299). What IBM or Dell can match that? Or what would you match it with to stay in or under the 3k cost?

    Also, your mum's piano could make a nice soundtrack for you videos. Free licensing too. Worth a try?

      The Lenovo is a great laptop, just not my personal favorite. It is a solid buy for around $1000. :)

    Hi Ben I am currently in the market of buying a lab top. My current budget is 1600 and max would be 2000. I am looking for the best to edit 4 k videos and pictures for my drone. I have watched a few of your videos today.
    What would be your top choice to go lap top to go with?

    Any thoughts on the Dell XPS 15" (2020) with i7 and 32GB RAM (my eyes are actually set on the upcoming Tiger Lake version)? Seems like that shows up near the top of a lot of lists, but it was not among your 12 favorites. Is that b/c it has a fairly low-end GPU? I'm looking for a new video editing laptop that will last me 3+ years, so am assuming I'll need something that can handle multitrack 4k videos. What would you recommend for under $3k (bonus points if it has a touchscreen display!)?

    Great video, so informative.
    I'm struggling to decide which of these would be better for 4K video editing and rendering with Power Director.
    They blow the budget, so can't possibly go any higher spec.
    The HP has less memory though so would need to upgrade. Any advice anyone? Greatly appreciated, cheers.
