Great video! I agree on all points of the video. I'm having a blast with dynasty. It's the perfect blend of arcade and simulation with just enough control over the school to where I'm not overwhelmed with small details but able to make control enough that I can make an impact on the schools legacy
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying the game as much as I do! I completely agree, sometimes the team control aspect in other games can get a little too much. I don't need to know how much each concession stand is charging on hotdogs.
I like the playbooks and variations of teams, the facilities are a nice touch though I dont like how so many of the upgrades have pretty distinct drawbacks. I find offense to generally be easy but the defense to be quite difficult - kicking is meh and while I like the speed/flow of recruiting, I dont like how recruiting and transfer portal forces you to make cuts/trades. Especially when I have limited info on a recruit - I might have to drop a better player to a recruit that I offered. Sometimes you just want depth pieces, but I guess that isnt a focus of the game. Overall solid game with a decent loop
Love the game, but I totally agree with you on parts of the recruiting. It is very transactional at times. Like you said I'd want a little more control over my depth chart. I recruited three top Left tackles, but I had to let one go. Would have been nice to keep all three and change the third to the right side or another position. But the overall recruiting was still fun! And a great game!
Agreed about recruiting In Legend Bowl, on the other hand, the draft is really well put together and I look forward to making upgrades after each season.
My problem is that both Legend Bowl and College Bowl are creating a “ghost controller” that accompanies the only controller I want to use to whatever team I select. The default position is two controllers (it should be one) in the middle before team selection. When I select the team both controllers (actual & ghost) go to that team. I could live with that except for the fact that one player on offense or defense is now rendered useless because that player is now assigned to the ghost controller. The ghost controller doesn’t “control” so that player ( usually WR#1 or a LB on defense) is immobilized.
Like Legend Bowl I still can't play the game. I first purchased the Steam version of Legend Bowl when I got a brand-new gaming computer 8 months ago. At the game menu when you select your team it drags TWO controllers to your selected team. My controllers were within the Bluetooth interface but only one was actively connected for this game. There was a smattering of other gamers with the same issue but after several attempts to contact the developer I opted for the refund. To my dismay this same problem exists with College Bowl. Maybe I should have totally removed the other controller from the Bluetooth interface before I asked for and received my refund.
Seeing as how I have few friends this wasn't an issue for me until you commented. I used 2 PS5 controllers for the record, don't think it matters but just in case. At first I had both controllers attached via Bluetooth and when I went to the team select and it only showed one controller. After fidgeting around nothing seemed to work. I normally play games via the normal Steam window, but while I was trying to figure things out I opened big picture mode on accident. I made sure both controllers were able to operate in big picture mode then started College Bowl in big picture mode. I went to the team select and no success, then I hit the big picture mode button, for PS5 controllers it's the PlayStation icon between the analog sticks. I checked to see both controllers were still working on the menu part of big picture mode while College Bowl was still running. When I returned to College Bowl both controllers were listed in team select along with my Bluetooth keyboard, so three controllers showed up and worked. I repeated this a few times already and seems to be a way to use both Bluetooth controllers if you need. Not as simple as I'm sure you'd like, but at least no settings or files need to be changed.
That is a tough one! I think it depends on whether you like the pro or college style of football more. The games handle very similarly control wise, with maybe an edge going to CB. The additions of hot routes and laterals in CB are game changers to me, but for NFL fans, the lateral is rarely if ever used in that pro style offense. You can also edit the playbook to your liking in CB, which makes the game really customizable. I like the league setup and the playoffs more in LB. I also feel like my defense responds better in LB. I also like how the Records portion in LB is more accurate to real life, at least numbers wise. Long story short, it is all about what league you want to emulate more, NCAA or NFL. If you are asking as a PC gamer, I'd say try both right now. College Bowl is currently on sale on Steam for $21, but for $27 dollars you can get both Legend Bowl and College Bowl. Might make sense for people on the fence, or if you want both for your collection.
Yes. When the game is paused, and I believe it has to be between plays. Look at the bottom right corner and it will have a button listed next to the word "Gamepads". I use PlayStation controllers so it is the "square" button. If you have an Xbox controller or haven't changed the glyphs under settings and gamepad, it should say or be the "X" button. Four little players will pop up and you can change which team each controller is on, home or away. Hope that helped!
TEXT based commentary? What does that supposed to mean? SOUND is a huge part of college football video games. Does this game have ANY college fight songs? Is there any announcing? This video does not mention anything about sound. This video is all talk talk talk. I’d like to HEAR the GAME.
Text based commentary means that after each play, the game shows a box with text and a commentator's picture next to it. There is no voice acting for the play-by-play or color commentators, just that box. The only announcing you hear is a subtle stadium announcer in the background who will only tell the basics like the down of the play. You can hear the players talking a bit also, but they are saying simple phrases like, "Let's go!", "How'd he drop that?!", etc. Just the post play chatter really. There are no official fight songs that I noticed. During a game, you have a simulated college band play between quarters, and you will hear old school midi style game music while the ball is in play. I will try to let the game speak more for it self and incorporate more of the game's sound in my reviews. Appreciate the feedback.
This game is simply amazing!
You can't truly appreciate this game until you play it. It's very rewarding.
Agreed!
The first time I actually won against a top 25 team, I celebrated like I won the real life college championship!
So much fun!

And thanks for watching!

Excellent review.
Thank you!
I disagree.. nothing about sound is mentioned. Are there crowd sounds? Fight songs for each college team or just a stadium announcer?
Awesome video, and I agree this game is Bad A**!
Thank you very much!
Glad you enjoyed the game also!
Would you recommend it over Legend Bowl?

In exhibition mode can you switch control of teams during the game?
Yes.
