You are the BEST John - great tips! Glad Google is finally letting us start customizing our sites. I WISH they would add the ability to give editing rights by page to specific individuals like they had in classic sites. Hopefully, we're moving in that direction.

Is the best way to make a classroom portfolio site and have the students put the links there so they are all on the same page? Sam Kary suggested that. (P.S. Great that your students are the Pevensie children from the Chronicles of Narnia!)
You can just have them drop a link as a private comment. If you want students to visit one another site you could also set up a discussion question and have students submit their link there.
Before chosing google site, consider the limitations. There is no way to access/edit the site HTML code, therefore, cookie consent banner can not be installed on site to be GDPR compliant (dont get fined, its $7500).

Nice video. After publishing a Google Sites website, it need not be hosted separately. Am I correct? You create a GS site first and wants to move to WordPress later- is it possible?
Correct. Google sites are hosted by google. There is no simple way to convert a Google site into a WordPress site. I would think examine both platforms and pick the one that suits your needs

Dear John I really really like to know...can you embed a google sites into another google sites with full page embed feature? The aim is to have dynamic view just like any other sites embedded

It is difficult for a student under the age of 13 to sign up for squarespace. 😬 Google sites is not meant to be a professional website tool, but it's great for intranets and use in classrooms.
Your IT department must have turned off sites for students. You should still be able to create a site and share it with them but the IT department will need to turn on Google sites if you want students to create their own.

Google Sites is best used for intranet and simple sites. It is not designed to be a full website solution like Wordpress, Squarespace, etc.

Go to the page tab on your site and you are able to configure which pages are displayed in the drop down menu. You can remove all of them if you want

Unfortunately, Google sites does not have any built-in SEO tools.
If this is something you need to do I would recommend using wordpress.

Are you editing or viewing your site? Google sites is not designed to be edited on a mobile device.

No, I don't think so. The header adjusts as you add new menu items.

Yes, I think this would be possible but not sure viewing experience would be very good.

That is correct. Google Has not added page level permissions to the new Google sites.

Those features are not supported with Google Sites.

There isn't a quick way to add AdWords to a Google site however you might be able to embed the ad widget manually.

There's no way to automatically do this however you can look into using the Google translate widget and embed it into your site.
