The worst part about the movie messing up the “did you put your name in the goblet of fire?” Is that it gets a crucial element of Dumbledore’s character just wrong... he’s immensely intelligent, he already knew of course Harry didn’t put his name in the goblet fire. Not to mention the fact that he only shouts maybe once in the series

Exactly this. It drives me crazy when movies change a character's actions for dramatic effect, when it results in the character being portrayed with personality characteristics that are markedly different from what the author deliberately crafted. I have a hard time watching the Potter films because of this, along with the fact that they omit so many great details, as well as completely fabricating some others. This Goblet of Fire scene is definitely one of the most egregious examples of things that drive me nuts in HP movies.
Exactly. He shouts at the end of goblet of fire wehn he's really angry after finding out that moody was actually Barty crouch Jr. It's a really impactful scene in the books as it shows how angry he is but in the movie it doesn't seem significant cuz he was shouting most of the time anyways.

@@realcartoongirl The other way around. "On" means to die. It is explained by Nearly Headless Nick at the end of book 5. Most people chose to go "on" (dying), instead of going back as a ghost.
Also in book 7, Ron says that maybe Dumbledore is still "alive" as a ghost, but Harry tells him that he would prefer to go on.
That's why Harry doesn't take any train. He chooses to come back, but he doesn't come back as a ghost because he didn't really died, he was saved by his mother's protection that was in his blood, blood that Voldemort used to rebuild his body.
He’s not confusing he just knows everything there is to know.

My favorite Dumbledore moment. Even better when you consider it from his perspective; either he knew exactly what Harry and Hermione had been up to from the moment their future selves arrived in the past and just let events play out before closing the loop by telling them what to do, or he didn't, but suspected what he might've had to tell them to do but wouldn't have been 100% certain exactly what that was and if it had worked at all, tells them what he thinks might work, turns around to see them appear behind him, has no idea HOW his plan has actually worked, and then nonchalantly brushes the whole thing off without question, playing the situation as if he planned it all out from the start and making himself look like a mad genius in the process!

I feel like I’m one of the few people who absolutely loved Gambon Dumbledore. Obviously it’s difficult to recover when you lose an actor 2 movies into your series. I really appreciated how dramatic but also lovable gambon was
Yes! I love Gambon more as Dumbledore. I dont know how to explain it better but the way he portraits the character is well executed. Dumbledore is not just a wise and soft man as depicted in the first two movies by Harris, but he is full of mysteries and quite shady and Gambon can pull it off really well
I don’t mind Gambon. I know he’s a good actor and I like him in other things. I just think it’s a shame and a disservice to fans he apparently never read the books or got to know his character beyond the movie scripts. This led to the movie character being (rather chaotically) shaped by a succession of different directors. The result is someone who feels a little less complex and who also doesn’t exude that calm but powerful, mischievous and quirky side of the book character. Plus, pet peeve, where are the high heeled boots?!
Adore Gambon. Harris looked the part better but I thought he was boring.

Um, let's not forget that the Philosopher's Stone was about to be stolen, and if it hadn't been for Harry, Quirrel would've been the one to bring Voldemort back instead of Pettigrew. In fact, the one time that Harry and his friends *do* follow the rules is the one where Voldemort ends up winning (Goblet of Fire). Dumbledore's (and therefore, the Ministry's) victory against Voldemort, himself absolutely *hinges* on Harry and his friends breaking school rules.
