I’ve had a very productive conversation with this creator that I can reference for other issues.
What I notice with my fridge and I hope it helps someone:
    If the fan works,
    The freezer works
Then lower the temperature of your fridge.
The ice build up might have blocked the return vent. You will have to remove the panel and see for yourself. It’s right under the “radiator fins. If ice is blocking it then their is your problem! 😊First thaw out all the ice, let it melt. If you remove the light dome fixture you can set a small jug inside to catch the water as it will be a lot. There is a knob inside the bottom part of the fridge. If you are building too much ice inside your freezer DO NOT set it on the “recommended” setting. Set it half way or 1/4” of an inch before the recommended side. Get closer to the recommended as needed. You might have to monitor your temperature so your food doesn’t go bad.
Also, the knob that’s inside the freezer actually controls how much air flows to the bottom. It’s not a electrical setting. It just opens the vent wider. If you leave it to the coldest setting most of the cold air will stay in the freezer. I set it the the lowest that way the cold air can also go to the bottom of the fridge.

@@MrTD714 My auto defroster stopped working so I have to manually defrost the freezer by unplugging, removing the back freezer panel, then blow air over the coils with a small fan until the ice build up melts away. It takes 1 hour in the summer, maybe 2 hours in spring or fall (the freezer never clogs up over the winter). I do this whenever the refrigerator climbs above 40 degrees (that means the ice clog is back). One of these days I will try to replace the heater element.

Thank You! My freezer was fine, but the fridge wasn’t cold damper channel was blocked and fan motor was out, 3 months after warranty ran out. It had a rattle when the freezer fan came on since the day we bought it, and that was the main give away that the fan motor had stopped working and the fridge was too warm. I ordered the fan off amazon for about $20, took 4 days to get here, and about an hour to replace, cleaned the freezer and removed the ice dam from the channel and while the fridge was pulled out I vacuumed the vents on the back and took some canned air and blew off the condenser coils and fan at the bottom of the fridge. Cold air is blowing from all the right places and it’s humming away! THANK YOU!😊 Your video saved me almost the cost of a whole new fridge since I live out in the boonies and they gouge the crap out of us for service calls and parts. Truly appreciated. Gonna give it a little bit to cool down and make sure it’s doing what it should. But so far so good!

THANK YOU!! This video saved me hundreds of dollars! The only thing that confused me, other than learning how to use a drill for the screws in the tight space holding on the ice maker 😂, was the model number. I ordered mine next day from Amazon, as it seemed no one locally had one, which was also $100 less than the manufacturer, and my model number ended in 06, not 04, but everything I found pointed to 04 being the part, so I bought it. Well, now I know why some things seemed less than perfect taking off the ice maker. Someone already replaced this part! And the model number and the new unit are identical to the one I replaced. So, who knows how many years I’ll get out of it, but I’ll at least know what I’m doing in a couple years when it goes out again! And that’s still worth the $100 savings on the part alone! Not to mention a service call and days without a fridge, albeit secondary! First world issues!

Notes: This video was on how to replace the evaporator fan motor. Note the two metal oval shaped rings he turned one quarter clockwise to be able to get the evaporator fan motor off. The fan blade itself actually just came right off by pulling outwards with just his fingers. There was also a plastic piece that he had to turn one quarter counterclockwise to get the fan motor off. A little experimentation should be all it takes to figure it out and a little luck not to break any thing for this model of refrigerator.

Any ideas why else it is not blowing enough air. I just bought a brand new GE refrigerator and got food poisoning because my refrigerator isn’t cold enough because of air flow.
Tech found a piece of foam blocking the vent and replaced the fan for good measure. HOWEVER, the air flow is still not enough to cool the refrigerator appropriately. When I open the fridge door I feel no coolness like in my previous models. I have it set at the highest setting.
I bought a refrigerator thermostat and it shows it is not cold enough for safety.
Tech cane again. Stuck his hand in the fridge and said it’s cold enough. 🤨

@@davidsheppard9896 Thank you for the super thanks. I appreciate that. Regarding your ice maker not filling with water, first make sure your fridge is indeed getting water. Then it could be either the solenoid that is clogged or gone bad, or the micro switches that signal the solenoid to turn on. While at it you may want to the change the filter as well. Take solenoid out and check for continuity with a multi meter.

@@davidsheppard9896 I think what you have is a faulty defrost thermostat. That's why the ice builds up and reduces flow to the fridge. By turning off you manually did the thermostats job and it is working well now. If it freezes again, then you change the thermostat. Or you turn off your fridge every month for 24 hours.

I have the same issue but with a 3.2 CU.F mini-fridge with a separate freezer and refrigerator section (2-door model). There is no removable back panel inside the freezer (or the refrigerator portion either), it's all one continuous molded piece of plastic and so there also is no "air-channel" going from the freezer to the lower refrigerator section and no fan. The top freezer section gets VERY cold (-20 F or colder) and bottom refrgerator section is between 57 F to 65 F. No apparent removable panel in the outside back of the unit either other than the bottom rear open portion where the compressor and tubing as it. So I'm stumped as to why the refrigerator section isn't getting cold.

    • @JJCentral-DIY
      @JJCentral-DIY  ปีที่แล้ว

Turn the fridge off and thaw all the ice first and see how it restarts back. See how the air flow works on that fridge and look for ice blockage.

@@JA-rn5qv I saw your video. Don't disregard the thermostat because a faulty thermostat will raise freezer temp due to the fact that the coolant circulation not triggered. This will cause uneven cooling based on the coil routing, more freezing towards the compressor and less away from the compressor. Since your fridge doesn't have a fan, faulty thermostat could be the reason. Also 0 deg F is the recommended freezer temp. Yours if showing -20F which means coolant is not flowing and distribution around the fridge.

If no voltage, then tape the door switch close and measure again. If still no voltage your main circuit board or your thermister is faulty and need replacement.
