How to Play PS2 Games on PS3HEN!

- One limitation of PS3HEN compared to CFW is the inability to directly launch PS2 games in ISO format. Due to this, many of the existing methods for CFW will not work on PS3HEN, as PS3HEN requires a PS2 ISO to be encrypted in order to play. The method shown here will demonstrate how to take a PS2 game, encrypt it, and then create an installable PKG file out of it all thanks to PS2 Classics GUI! This will require you to have PSN activated on your PS3HEN console, as well as the basic knowledge of transferring a PKG over to your console to install.
This video assumes you already own a console modified with PS3HEN. It is also assumed the viewer has a basic understanding of how to navigate their console.

*ABOUT THE CONFIGURATION*
As I'm guessing right now, at this moment, config is optional and sometimes required, if your game is already a ps2 classic (Like most GTA games), leave it with the config the program recommends, if the program recommends just CONFIG (literally), check the compatibility list's notes on the game and use the appropiate configuration name, and if the list says nothing (and it's playable), cancel the configuration process, and the packaging will start anyway without configuration.
This needs to be much higher up this list.

@@echoes28 I tried it, it doesn’t work unless you have 4.86 and CFW. You can only play ISOs after encrypting them and installing them as a PKG file. I wanted to convert my old PS2 games into ISOs so I could play them, but like I said unless you have CFW, it won’t even read them.

Dude, Thank you! Between this and your exfat tutorial, I can play my favorite ps2 game of all time again. I was trying for so long to make this thing work and I'm not a modder, I practically know nothing about this stuff and gave up, lost hope I'd never be able to play this game again without spending an arm and a leg. Just wanna say thanks. I watched a bunch of your videos today and accomplished everything I was hoping to do with the PS3 I picked up yesterday. Got PS3HEN installed, installed multiMAN, was able to transfer a backup game from my computer to the PS3 via FTP and also install a backup PS2 game off a USB drive. Great stuff, cheers.

Hi! I was wondering if you perhaps had any suggested fan speeds or if one can make it so that the fan speed is specific to Ps2 titles (making it ramp up only during Ps2 play)? The webman Ps2 thing doesn't work and therefore defaults to my lowest fanspeed of 33%. My PS3 doesn't feel hot at 33% even after an hour or so, but many say it may fry my PS3 too... Thanks for response!

Hey Mario, Thanks for all the videos! But after I installed the pkg's, it shows a broken icon and says "corrupted data", I did the activation and enable hen and encrytion and everything...I FTPed the pkg files to the console, is it because of that?

Whenever I try to do the “MAKE PKG” everything goes well, but my file name just says “CONFIGURE” nothing more, no letters or numbers... and so I just overwrite a file but still doesn’t work. Need help

when i click to select a ps2 iso with ps2 classics GUI it automatically crashes for me. I have tried it with multiple games but this always happened, i haven't messed with its files at all after unzipping though so i am not sure what to do

Strange issue, I managed to successfully create the ps2 classics pkg, copy it over to the drive, and install it on my ps3 slim running rebug full 4.84. But for some reason, after I launch the game, the ps3 goes into 480p mode like it's supposed to, but then immediately goes back to the xmb menu. I double checked all the settings in rebug toolbox, and even created another pkg through the same encryption process, but it still does the same thing. I think the problem is the fact that I never signed up for a PSN account, and that's whats causing this to not work, since you did mention having to sign up for an account. Problem is, I'm on 4.84, and that's old enough where psn won't let me create an account or sign in. What do I do?
I'm trying to do this but there was a recent update to the ps3 firmware and I can't sign in to activate as primary, or can I? Thanks for all the great videos they truly got me this far

try using SLUS_203.83.CONFIG
there is no config file like that when i try to select config then is only says CONFIG or slus****** and there is error because slus****** doesnt exsist

A little offtopic, but how did you get rid of the analog clock next to the digital clock in the top right corner, since i'm currently attempting to make my ps3 look like pre firmware 3.00 and the analog clock wasn't present back then, it would be awesome to have it gone completely.

Working really good. No other guide worked for me. I have a little question now: I wanna play multi-disc games, Xenosaga II & III to be more specifical. Do those games work by making separate pkgs for each disc or do I have to merge them into one? Thanks for all your help and in advance.
I think making them into seperate pkgs for each disc would work best because then it will read as seperate games that you can still play, if you merge them together then it would probably become an unreadable mess
So I've followed this to the letter, with the exception of logging into PSN - I did this via the Apollo Save Tool instead and activated my console. I know this worked because what used to be a copyright error or similar no longer appears after activation. However, I now have an issue where when launching, I am told the content has a time limit....? I have no idea how to get around this without internet access (I do not wish to use this console online at all). Do you have any advice on how to fix this?

When I check the ps2 backwards compatibility list, and it says a config dramatically helps the performance of the game, what exactly does that mean? And how would I go about using a config to help improve the game’s performance?
You can see when he's messing with the ps2 classics gui on his computer it looks for a config file out of a large pool of them that best fits the game.
It's because it's using a PS2 emulator, like an emulator on PC, configuration can drasticly change how the game behave. And the app contains configuration for ps2 if I understand this correctly.

When I'm making PKG and picking Config file at file name there's ony "CONFIG" and nothing else so I can't choose the right one because I don't know which one is right. Is that the ROMs fault? or maybe I did sth wrong?
When I use the ISO.BIN.ENC to create a package it doesnt give me a config so i go to custom config and select one does it matter which one i select?

Following all these steps to the letter, I have experienced numerous problems, from the PKG files being corrupted even when the PS2 Classics program in this video did everything right, to now experiencing a black screen every time I try to start the games up. What gives?

Hello! Whenever I make the PKG, it finishes in 2 seconds but nothing actually outputs. Is there a reason for the issue. The ENC file is named correctly
the configs folder doesn't have configs for any game I've downloaded. The Simpsons Hit and Run USA isn't there, do I need the configs? Or can I just skip them?

You probaly have in hands a bad mounted iso, basically, the iso probably doesn't have the file with this name inside it. This "SLUS..." Files are basically executables for ps2 games (like .exe for windows).
The suggestion to solve your problem will always be one of these three: remount your iso (search on youtube), redo the backup of your disc paying attention to the process or download it for another place (i personally recommend look into reddit r/roms MEGATHREAD.
