What are you're thoughts on ranger. I enjoy it but I also enjoy mage and can't decide on a main? I know mage is good for pvp but ranger seems more pve.
Really just go with the playstyle that feels best. They’re both good in PVP. Also, there will be many balance patches so don’t go with what’s “strongest now”
Ranger has 2 major playstyles depending on wether you leveled shortbow or longbow. If your a longbow player, you play around the heartseeker buff with bullseye buff at the top of the tree, bullseye gives 20% crit damage against bleeding targets, bullseye gives next abilities after finishers and deadly finishers 25% crit chance, so you do an auto attack chain, prime bullseye, mark of the tiger, snipe has 30% crit against distant targets, so with 20% crit from dex / gear, 25% on bullseye and mark of the tiger, 30% on snipe, you get guaranteed crits and just hit incredibly hard. If your gear matched grapplrs in the video snipe would prolly be critting for almost 3k on low armor targets. If snipe and lightning reload are on cooldown then your just crit farming: auto auto finisher extended finisher then any 2 skills to max out chances to crit. Shortbow plays entirely around arrowstorm and mark of the raven. auto attack chain > barrage, and at level 18 my barrages with arrowstorm are doing roughly 1.3k damage, and you fit in 1 skill after the arrowstorm. so auto attack chain barrage > thundering shot, then auto attack chain barrage > snipe, etc. etc. Longbow is better for aoe since the crit chances are so much higher, and single shots like scatter shot, thundering shot, and the measly 2 shots from rain of death do not benefit well from arrowstorm, but shortbow has some crazy single target, especially if you vine a bleeding target then raven mark when they are under 50% to barrage > lightning reload > barrage > barrage again (2 barrages on a hemorrage target resets barrages cooldown entirely for a 3rd, all within the one mark of the raven) so you essentially hit them over 30 times in about 5 seconds. I've seen mark of the raven damage approach 2k, the 3 barrages doing about 1.5k total, and arrowstorm doing 1k, it's truly disgusting amounts of damage. Shortbow never has to worry about mana since it easily takes inner fire and refreshing followthrough and auto attacks a lot for arrowstorm, longbow has some mana issues since it does best with crushing blow / keen edge but it's auto attack chain itself is a fair bit higher dmg. Multi hit skills aren't critting after the initial tick, and since almost the entire shortbow chain is multi hits crit chance sucks on it, just go raven hunt and mark and try to max pen to shred tanky mobs
Just fyi, your bard can interrupt every single whirlwind. just watch for blood rage and mes dance or marionette. Sometimes elevation LOS bugs it though, or it can miss, but it takes pressure off the tank. That's how we did it with mage tank for faster clear Also never use disengage or get off the stage on this spot. it will potentially perma bug out the mobs doing the moonwalk and ruin the spot.
Weird, I've done that spot from like level 22 to 25, and never once bugged th em out with disengage. Maybe it's a more recent bug, or I got lucky. And yeah, their spin can be canceled. I don't remember if I mentioned this in video, but if not, I should have.
the crowd control in this game is so well done - such a lost component of gameplay in modern MMOs. Old school EQ enchanters and bards were so crucial in a well stacked group.
This will be useful for me after the 20 Dec wipe. I haven't bothered leveling any class past level 9 in phase one, I couldn't be bothered knowing it's all getting wiped. I'm assuming the 20 Dec wipe will be the last one at least up until phase 3 but I could be wrong.
Hey Grapplr, have enjoyed your videos especially because i play Ranger aswell. Wondering do you know a good spot for solo farming for someone at level 10? Also maybe a good video could be different farming spots for different levels? Cheers
You probably shouldn' tbe solo farming at that level, but joining a group to do highwayman hills. But even if you can't find a group, go to highwayman hills, and farm the highwaymen. They drop bows pretty frequently, and also greatswords. can't go wrong. good way to get your level 10 bow. You can do that until level 14-15, then look for groups that are doing citadel (even the exterior of citadel). Citadel will drop tons of level 20 armor, as well as level 10 bows and greatswords (i've seen heroic ones drop).
We did 4-5 packs of these in a single pull. Quite doable, wiped twice during few hours of farm. Never dropped anything good though. Maybe it’s patched now though.
I did the math manually, you're right, it is off. I think one can probably get about a full clear in 3 minutes if great team, for like 50k xp. So maybe 1m. 1.8 sounds impossible.

Do a video on Ranger skills and shortbow/longbow skills as well as secondary trees, please. Could do pvp and pve spec seperately.

Im thinking about both too but i decided mage cause of the aesthetics i like playing magic :D

I've dropped about 6 bows total (all green, level 20+), one blue sword (20+) and lots of earings, and other small stuff.

XP/Hour number is way off but still very good way to farm XP after level 20.
