Thank you for all of your videos. I’ve been watching them for a while now 😊 I’m almost finished with my undergraduate in Psych but am also taking Counseling graduate courses, so it’s getting very real for me. I appreciate the time you take to share your experiences! Congrats and good luck in your career ❤
Do you have counseling courses as a part of your undergrad? I had certified counseling addiction courses that I did for my electives for undergrad. It helped me transition into the grad program smoothly.
If I were you I would choose the job with the five min drive. There are never enough minutes in the day and having more time for yourself after work will be much needed. Thank you for documenting your journey! I start practicum at the end of this month and I am enjoying watching your journey!
Thank you for the advice. It’s a hard decision becuase the place that’s further away is group and individual therapy and I love facilitating groups, it’s fun and the time flies. The one close to home would be back to back clients. Not sure if I would love that unless it was my private practice. I have to try it thought to see for sure 😊
I would probably do the individual counseling because I'm not super interested in doing group therapy, but when I eventually do start my private practice, I will likely never go over 20 clinical hours per week. Seeing 6-8 clients per day is too much for me, personally. I'd probably do the individual counseling job anyway just for the practice, but only with the understanding that that kind of workload is not something I'd be sustaining long-term.
Also I would not drive to the job 30 min away if it were me, that’s driving an hour total every day multiple times a week, and the gas will add up quick, versus only going 5 minutes down the road! Less gas, less wear and tear on car, and less rush in the mornings
I have insurance without any employer. It’s not a deal breaker for me. Thanks for the suggestion though it does make a big difference for a lot of people.
Great video! I’m in my last week of Practicum until I start Internship 1 🥳 your videos are so helpful!
That’s amazing. How’s your experience so far? Internship is fun!

That would be the plan for the next 2 years of supervision. When I’m independent I am excited to create my own schedule

Yea the gas and the miles on the car for sure !
Congrats! If the agency that is 30 minutes away offers health insurance, it would be worth the drive.
