    Omg the waiting game for the state to register licenses in all states seem ridiculous. I felt like my school did not prepare me for that sharp halt in providing clinical care that happens after graduation. It took me three months to get my permit from NY state. What is even more tough is that each new job I work at a new permit is needed, so I have been through this process for times while gaining licensure hours. Then comes the counting pre-licensure hours until licensure… but we will prevail and get full licensure!

      That’s a lot of work. I think we have to change the address on our license when we switch jobs but that’s it. I still don’t get how we’re supposed to log our hours.

    Congratulations on earning your master's degree in counseling! I have been following you for a while now. I have two more courses to take and will start my internship in January. You should read mental health books and work until you are ready to move on when you have your license. You may need a break as well. But you're doing great, and counseling is a tough job. It's only sometimes going to feel amazing. I guess you must remember the impact you will have on your clients.

      Also, I can totally see how you don’t want to lose your momentum. I feel the same way, and refuse to take any breaks from school. Gotta keep that momentum. Also, I can relate to not wanting to get burned out. It’s a very delicate balance!

      @@elizabeth3601 It’s been nice to take a break. I had time to spend time with family and focus on nothing but that. But the reality is bills are due and things come up fast. Doing internship for a year was costly and I didn’t get paid so now it’s time to catch up on things. I’m ready to do so and it feels like I’m being blocked from it.

    i’m seeing this video, really processing the waiting game for my permit while i’m unemployed. I’m offered a job but can’t legally work without the permit and that may take weeks to months as mentioned in some of the comments here. I’m glad i graduated but waiting for this permit is impacting my patience and financial stability…

      @@kdcounseling so far I took Human Development and Orientation to Counselor Professional Identity. I really like it. I am online and that was a learning curve but I like it. Hoping to finish in 2 years. I agree with you. The same thing happened with my teaching certificate years ago. What a pain!!! Hopefully you will hear back soon.

    Hey Klaudia...Sounds like you have an opportunity to 'transition' softly. I feel like you are going to get PLENTY of time in the chair in the near future, so that will come. For now, sit with it and be present in the now, use this down time to reconnect to your true nature and why you are doing what you are doing. Not to say that you aren't already, but a reconnection with intention is always powerful medicine.
    Don't go to the other agency...stay where you are at for now. Be patient and use this time to recoup what you've missed out on (ie. fitness, reading, family time, lazy time, etc.)
    Many congrats to you! Be Well 🌊

    Thank you for sharing this. I actually been following you since the beginning we graduated at the same time & are in the same exact boat right now! I feel the void and so frustrated because I worked so hard for this degree , sent in everything I needed to send and still have to wait for the state to approve me. What has been helping me is adding in more intentional moments with the kids , working on my website , completing trainings any marketing ads , creating my business cards or even finding additional streams of incomes.Keeping busy & finding ways to still stay connected to that part of me but also allow myself to rest. Hopefully we get approved soon , WE DESERVE IT ❤

      @@Abreu1021 that’s amazing. We can also do that here to a certain extent if the supervisor trusts you. The thing that is different is that they have to be in the building with you I think.

    I also I’m struggling today! I can’t decide which internship to take… I don’t remember, was yours paid?
    I agree with the commenter above that taking a break has been earned my dear! Take a trip woman😁 But I also understand your worry. For me, I would probably find some kind of online training to take during this down time…just to keep me in the excitement zone. What about taking ACT or EFT or whatever you’re interested in training online? Even if it’s not a certification it’ll be helpful. I have appreciated your videos during my journey the past year, thanks for showing up! 💜And if YOU have any advice on internship sites… Would you take the paid one where you’re on your own a bunch and don’t have as much community and training? Or would you take an unpaid one that has a really supportive community of therapists that are more hands-on?😅

    • @kdcounseling
      @kdcounseling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! My internship was not paid. If I really needed the money I would take the paid one (who wouldn’t). The one thing I can tell you is a lot of my cohort had that type of structure (working alone) but not paid and they would only see their supervisor once a week for an hour. In my case I was with my supervisor in the groups we would run together and in meeting before and during our day. Sometimes I would sit in some of the specialty EMI sessions that she would do as well. In my opinion I’m glad I didn’t get paid for doing the work because it gave me some room to ask for the things I wanted, not show up on days I was sick without feeling guilty and take vacation time as I wanted. Once your a paid employee I think this changes a bit.

      @@kdcounseling That’s such a great point, I didn’t even think about that! I’ve definitely heard things can get muddy when interns are paid… But I’ve also heard it can be great! Thank you for the things that you pointed out, I have a final meeting with the paid place this week so I will ask a few more questions….and get more of a sense of the team there.🙏 Appreciate you!

    🌊🏖️🐚 Congratulations on finishing school!!! If it was me, I would work at the place that you interned at so that you can make more money and use your skills until you get your pre license number.

    • @kdcounseling
      @kdcounseling  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much I appreciate the positive energy. My only drawback is that if I get my intern number next week I would not be able to do the hours they want me to at the old site/ I would be afraid to loose the private practice position if I wait too long to enter into their system. I wouldn’t want them to see me working somewhere else and choosing that over them. You make a good point though, I might consider doing it anyways, because even if I got my number next week it would take a while to build enough clients that would be a significant amount.
