Whoever voiced old Scott in the JP dub had perfect direction. He made it sound so serious and then delivers the "Anti-Kiss" field in such a stuck up childish way lmao.

Even more funny thing is, Yuichi Nakamura, the Japanese dub voice actor for Lucas, has also dubbed Captain America LMAO
Probably he was chosen solely for that reason.
I remember many VA jokingly calls him "Captain" a lot of times back when MCU at the peak.
At the time I didn't know what the reason, then I got recommendation on TH-cam for Japanese Dub at the Airport Scene lol
Yup. Disney Plus has Japanese as an audio option.
That also happened with the Latin-American dub. It's was a nice touch.

@@jorgel.quiroz8862 yeah, José Antonio Macías is Chris Evans usual dub voice, but in the live-action movie Lucas was dubbed by José Arenas, who is known for dubbing Jake from Adventure Time. José was the only dub actor from from the live-action who didn't reprise his role in the anime, I think it was due to the dub being done remotely, since it was done in collaboration between Mexico and Argentina, but José does not like to work remotely

Because that wasn't the tune from Anthro _Robin Hood_ in the dub, I guess.
@@nicholasfarrell5981 The Hamster Dance is literally just that same tune sped up by a lot, and the fact that the Japanese dub used a song that was popular in older Japanese memes, I believe the Hamster Dance was the intended version to be recognized by the viewers.

Best part. Mae Whitman is just living the dream of being the voice of Roxie Richter again. You can hear the vibes of Amity, Katara and Huntsgirl all coming from her. And her Japanese voice, Naomi Ohzora, she did fantastic.
Wonder who they got to be the Japanese voice for my skater bro, Lucas Lee?
They got Yuichi Nakamura for Lucas Lee, probably most well known for his role as Gojo Satoru in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime.

I wonder if there's ever gonna be a Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Season 2. I'd definitely like to see some more of it.
The ending makes it look like they're making a season 2. But who knows right now.
Likely yes considering how crazy popular the show is but whether we'll get it soon I doubt it. I mean did you see how crazy that animation is? This stuff takes time so just be patient and enjoy what we have now.
They actually confirmed they don’t have any plans for a s2 and that it was made to only last one season. Hiring all those A list actors is expensive

Honestly if we just get an adaptation of the original comics I'll be happy. I liked this show but the whole subversion of the source material thing caught me off since I thought Takes Off was an animation of the books
Some of these are really good in Japanese, but as for Julie, NOBODY swears like Aubrey Plaza.
To be fair, it's kinda hard to legit swear in Japanese.

Both are pretty good, but the original English dub just has so much to it when it comes to the original actors committing to the more cartoonish nature of their characters here. One just can't watch this and say they AREN'T giving it their all with this.
Eh, it might be saying something if their "all" is a little lacking. It's obvious they aren't experienced in voice acting so I won't blame them for that, but they get an A for effort. (Mae Whitman is an exception, since she is experienced). Lot of the deliveries were a bit too quiet and didn't match how expressive the animation was

@@ShadowMasterT I know Kana for her role as Mitsuri Kanroji in Demon Slayer, though I'm surprised that apparently she began her career when she was a teenager in the anime Last Exile.
However, I saw Scott Pilgrim Takes off in Neutral Spanish and Envy was dubbed by the same VA who dubbed her live-action version, Circe Luna, and it's interesting because she is more well known for voicing Rei Ayanami, Pan from Dragon Ball, Belldandy from Ah my Goddess! and Sora in Digimon Adventure, characters who sound very different from Envy. Though I also remember that Circe dubbed Cindy in the Nicktoon series, Jimmy Neutron

I listened to some of the dubs and most were pretty amazing! It's interesting, that the voice directions seems to be a bit "laid back". Like it's not voice acted as a typical anime or cartoon but more "real". At first I thougt that the english VA just weren't used to voicing cartoons (which may still be) but EVERY dub is laid back.
Also props to the german dub. They got ALL the voice actors back from the german dub of the movie. Haven't checked the actors from the other dubs, but I love this dedication for dubs!
The English audio came first so I imagine that set the tone for the other dubs.
Oh, this series went really off the rails and diverged off the original content... and I love it!!!! And love how both the Japanese and English dubs to this iteration right!!!

I just watched it yesterday and I enjoyed it alot, no doubt the author worked on the project, it was the perfect timeline/paralel universe version, although it doesn't compare to the original comics, I have all the tomes. Now I'll watch it sll again in Japanese, while eating ramen 🍜

Oh, when Captain Hazama Rogers Shiba became famous movie star & suddenly being accused for a scandal of dating 17 years old girl (presumably Knives) who happens to be 31 years old actress portraying that teenage girl.
Akuma is Tomomichi Nishimura (A1-A3, Alpha Movie), and Daisuke Gouri (Alpha Generations).
Wallace's voice is PERFECT.
Even Older Scott in Japanese sounds a lot like Admiral Akainu/Fleet Admiral Sakazuki from One Piece.
