    Got it done this yesterday. Took me about 4 hours but took lots of breaks. Hardest part was those plastic clips for the wiring. BUT...I've always had a problem figuring out how to get them apart and they don't give you a a lot of room to work with. NO BLOOD just one injury when I had my wife help hold the steering wheel while I was getting the nut to break loose. My knuckle prints are in her hand....she agreed to settle out of court...lol. Thanks for your video and I'm 71 so YES you can teach an old dog new tricks! People need to remember you will HAVE to clear the old code with a scanner or the air bag light will come right back on. Also...all my other steering wheel controls worked fine....just had the air bag light on with the "Drivers side air bag high resistance" code! Project completed and air bag light off!

    I have a 2011 Santa Fe manual transmission and I am having an issue with the cruise control. The cruise control will turn on but it won’t set or hold a speed. Now this started happening along with the gear position indicator on the instrument cluster not indicating which gear I’m in. I did change the clock spring but nothing happened. Any suggestions?

    I love your "no bull" simple Aussie way of demonstrating the repair. I restore old race cars for a living and usually run screaming from anything computer controlled, but had to step in when my old neighbor got quoted over 1000 euro by a dealer to repair this. 32 Euro part and an hour of my time, sorted. Good on ya, Zig mate....

    I'm always afraid to mess around with the air bag connections, to me it's like a time bomb waiting to go off.

    • @spanermantim
      @spanermantim 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      An airbag will only go off when power goes to the connections that is why you disconnect the battery first.

    Hi, thanks for the tutorial.. I have a few questions. I have a 2014 Hyundai santa fe, the volumen button on the steering wheel no long works but I don't have an airbag light on yet, just wondering when I finish changing the clock spring so I need to clear any thing with a computer? I don't have a computer to clear any errors and I don't want to set the airbag off by mistake.... Will the air bag go off once I connect the battery and turn the car on if I don't use a computer? Thank you in advance for your time and help.

    Anyone knows what's the part number for 2010 santa fe clock spring?

  • @rvborgh
    @rvborgh 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is the steering angle sensor in the clock spring? Or somewhere below that? Does that need to be zeroed out again? i guess my other question is why does the resistance on the new vs old clock spring change such that the SRS system notices it in the first place?

    • @ziggassedup

      Steering angle does not change...The ribbon wire inside the housing breaks causing an open circuit.

    So many time i hear if you buy a wrecked car to repair and air bag gone off, to walk away no matter how good the deal, not sure that was good advise your thoughts???

    • @ziggassedup
      @ziggassedup  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Air bags aren't cheap and when they go off they usually set other things off too like seatbelt pretensioners and sometimes the module so that could end up being very expensive to repair.
