    New mobile phones seem to arrive weekly, and with them all the accessories and things you need to have to get full use out of them. We decided to take a step backwards and make our own galaxy 6 wooden case, starting with making our own 3-ply plywood back. This made out case very strong and we were also able to make it very thin ... maybe not a thin as some commercial cases, but this is wood, and not something everyone else will have. It did take a bit of experimenting to figure out what worked best for this case, but once we knew that, it was suprisingly quick and easy to build this case, being careful to make sure your measurements are accurate. The hardest part was waiting for the finish to dry, and after 4 coats of Saicos, it turned out amazing.

    I made a case for an iPhone 4 based on your previous video - worked really well - this one looks like a improvement with the thinner back - thanks for posting this

    that look beautiful I really like the look of darker wood and with the bright screen it really complements it nicely great work, if only I had the tools to make this. look forward to what you show next.

    great project idea. I would want to figure out how to use the power and volume buttons with the case on. plus it would be nice to have the corners rounded.
    thanks again for the idea starter!

      @knecht105  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nick Karpen Hi Nick, yes the power and volume buttons are not easy to get at in this case, but I personally don't use them but it would be easy to sand some recesses in the edges just deep enough to utilize them easier ... lots of different ideas that can be added to this idea, if you make one maybe you will share some with us :)

    Very nice. I just 'fell over' the vid and, having only recently decided to make one for my gx3note.
    I'm going for the same idea but with a flap. It will contain a notepad to the right which will be a protection for the screen and a slide in to the left.
    I now use an old year calender/note pad 1991! with a translucent plast on one side and the phone slips under that and can still touch function - and it affords all but protection from pine needles, saw dust and forest bugs. (so the phone socket gave up quickly!)
    I'll try post a photo somewhere if I actually don't just cut wood, but also time enough to do it! Yours looks just great and the oil brought up a lovely finish. The plywood is a nice construction method.

      +WoodWorkWeb One more reason to do it. I live fine without a phone - but as a tool, well it's like a multitool and this 'case' just the ticket! and so's being in the woods. Thankyou and be well.

    cool as always! why contact cement and not wood glue?

    • @knecht105
      @knecht105  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tim “tk249” K Great question Tim, you could use wood glue, but then you would have to press the three parts together with a clamp and let them sit, and it would work just fine. I used the contact cement because it was a bit quicker and more convenient for me that's all.
      Thanks for asking ...

      Hugh O'Kelly What I have been thinking is to make such a cover for over a fall-safe cover, that way you can be sure about fall safety while still having a custom case. Ofcourse, it is not as cool as an all wood system, but I don't know how to have a trustable fall safe design
