I am so flabberghasted by the fact that he made an entire game for an April Fools prank! Why is nobody talking about how amazing that is?
One of my many hobbies is game development, so using that experience I was able to make this pretty quick (i only spent a few hours planning and around a day to get the game in the current state you saw it in)

related info: This version was cancelled in 2013. The cancelled 2013 build had mostly downgraded things. It also had multiplayer before it got cancelled. I am working to get the 2013.07.20 (cancelled) build, wish me luck!

It's actually funny you say it's 2013. The GameMaker project file was actually called "RecRoom2013", but I changed it to 2008 because I thought 2013 was too recent.

feels like it was made in scratch (nvm i watched through the entire thing and saw it was made in gamemaker)
I was planning to use scratch for it but there's no scratch VM that runs in a self contained window. That and I am used to GameMaker more than Scratch lol

@@stuarttmcoded if you completed this and was able to make it multiplayer (under a different name of course) it would be actually pretty funny
@@HeavenlyHostGaming I would love to but networking is one of GameMakers weaknesses sadly. It can do it but for the time and effort required to do it I would prefer to use another engine like Unity maybe.

Yes that’s true rec room came out in 2016 but they actually did start development in 2008

@MonkeDaMemer The htc vive did not exist in 2008, they needed that to make the game
