Highly informative review sir, and this helps me realize what a bargain a used Phantom 3-4K would be, at a $400 ball park figure when bought used on ebay. I fly long-range, 5-mile round- trip autonomous missions using Litchi, pretty much exclusively, and for this purpose my lowly Phantom 3 Standard fits the bill perfectly. That said, my next purchase will certainly be a Phantom 3-4K, so I can gain the capacity to zoom in with far greater clarity, on still pictures I extract from video footage.
hey mike, I fly the phantom 3 pro myself, the motors are from what I understood, not the same, the pro runs brushless motors where the standard motors are coiled, also the controller for the pro operates off of dji Lightbridge system and the standard is basic wifi, several of the features on the pro are also not available on the standard, thanks and keep up the good work
Never flown a Phantom. Trying to make a decision between the P3SE and the P34K. The SE has the same remote as the P3 Standard and the 4K has the better remote. I know I will get less distance on the P34K, but the difference in the remotes is important to me. Thanks for spending some time on them. I think it's the P34K for me.
Hi! 1st time watching your channel, good work! Found it cause of the title. And tbh, ty. Mainly because I recently got a used (obviously) Phantom 3 4k. And before I got it, I pretty much thought all Phantom we're the same, cause this is the 1st "REAL" drone I've gotten. So, I naturally assumed it was totally bad ass, all bells n whistles, and most of all, can travel out to about 3.5+ miles. AFTER I got it, I figured out that, I was mostly finding info about the PRO Series, and didn't know there were differences. Then it seemed I got stuck with the crappy one, and it was pretty much a P3 standard, but with an"overkill" camera. But thanks for pointing out that there ARE other, very good upgrades, over the standard!!! And if it (4k) does go about 1.2 miles, than I can be happy about that too! Btw, have you tested the range difference in the standard to the 4k? Or just the 4k, and will it actually go over a mile? I realize where you fly, makes a huge difference, but I'm talking about good area, with very minimal interference. Thanks, and great job
Thanks for watching. Never got a chance to test out the long range capability of it. I do highly recommend getting a parabolic reflector they are super cheap and help. I finally sold mine over the summer because I switched to FPV now and no longer doing commercial drone work, but that may change??
Magic power firmware is supposed to boost the drone to 27 db, and basically makes a Phantom 3 standard, and 4k into a Pro. And have about the same distance as a Professional model.
Apparently the throttle stick will shut down the motors if you hold it all the way down for more than a few seconds. Will this happen in mid flight when you are way up in the air?
they are awesome fast little drone with can anywhere and the camera is amazing just a smaller FOV compared to the phantom 4 dont kmow about the phantom 3
Is it possible take the video system out off dji frame, cut the motor to save weight and mount on airplane as a separate system just to have hd fpv video signal
HD fpv is really Spenser in compare with a used dji 3 that you can buy for 250$. If you check the connex pro sing is more than that and so other . Probably my idea is something new that nobody has done
To gain real benefits you should have compared with the Phantom 3 Professional as lightbridge does make a difference. I actually prefer the P3P to the P4 for a number of reasons.
Mike, your video helped me make the choice of the 4K. I have a Phantom 3 4K and now that I am more comfortable flying I've wanted to increase my height and distance. Had the opportunity to shoot a few lighthouses in Northern Michigan and found out that I couldn't use the point of interest function because I couldn't get above the lighthouse. It says I reached my maximum height and distance. I checked and the beginner mode is off and the set max on both are 400m. Why is it stopping me at 100m? I tried again at home and same thing. Not sure what to do. Any help from anyone who may know what I should do would be great!
The max height you can fly in the US set by the FFA is 400ft AGL. AGL=Above ground level. The max setting is 120m which is about 393ft. Depending on where you started you might have reached the limit
Sorry, my typo....It only lets me up 100 feet. The last lighthouse was 100 feet up and I could only get to the top and not get above it. Totally understand the 400 ft AGL, just only getting a quarter of it. Same with distance, I'm only able to go to my neighbors lot which is 50 feet away before it tells me I've reached max.

Trying to figure out which to buy right now. Leaning more towards the 4K, so you said the standard shoots 1080p at 30fps. So with better camera on the 4K does it still shoot 1080 at 30fps or does it shoot 1080 at 60fps? Nice video btw, really helped me! Hopefully I can get some better drone footage for my videos!
I have the Phantom 3 4K and I have video set at 4K 25fps. Looks great. Have the option of 1080p at 50fps. Still need to play with it and have questions.
please do a review on the new phantom 3 es 4k, this is also a affordable upgraded phantom 3 just above 550 $ that films in 4k 24 frames per second Max. I have a short film on my channel. At the first flight I was filming not in 4k but 1080 p 48 frames per second. next time I will try in 4k. The reason for filming in 1080p was is that my tv played max 1080 p. 😣😭

They're both brushless motors clearly, coreless are completely different design.

Just got one. It does seem to help the range. I've never tried to push the range limit, but it does hold full strength at 500m

No, there are two different versions the DJI Phantom 3 4K, and the DJI Phantom SE. Close but small differences.

Okay you probably need to download the newest firmware, and also you have to sign up and sign into your DJI account otherwise they limit you
