- This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see tasvideos.org/4010M
TAS originally published on 2019-08-01
In accordance with standard procedure, Samus discarded all of the items she collected on previous adventures before embarking on this one.
Super Metroid has a wide variety of time-saving glitches to exploit, many of which are explained on the Super Metroid Tricks ( tasvideos.org/GameResources/S... ) page. Be sure to check it, as well as the author's comments ( tasvideos.org/6381S ), for more information on the improvements. This is an improvement of 6:28.70 over the predecessor movie.
If you prefer to watch the fastest completion without getting all the items and without any large skip glitches, check out this run ( tasvideos.org/3653M ) of Super Metroid in 35:58 by Sniq ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/Sniq ).

Every second encode link leads to a version where all graphics have been fixed. - เกม
8 minutes and 40 seconds of this gameplay is hearing the item sound.
Did you actually keep track or? Response rate adjustment would have made this game unstoppable.
Some parts he was doing the item switch to the beat!
Whoever went through and tagged all the item pickups as "intermission" for sponsorblock was doing god's work.
Regular speedrunner: "I'll pick this health up for safety"
TAS: "Safety is our number 10 priority"
You only need 1 hp >:]
21:18
*Has only 3HP*
"I guess it's fine if I step on magma a bit"
THE ONLY HP THAT MATTERS IS THE LAST ONE
We are TAS, we are never in danger, we are always safe.
its not a priority
Fusion and Zero Mission: "It's really cool. We have this feature where Samus can maintain her speed boost by shinesparking onto angled platforms." Super Metroid: "Hold my beer..."
And then came the hack creator, the modder created hacks where samus unstopable shine-sparking even fly into angled platform and wall...
Oh yeah her armor model in SM is pretty annoying since they use of her energy to maintain shinespark, glad people of community made their own without the corny annoying feature of it
@ what mod?
Ridley: ah yes now that I've landed on zebes ill have some time before that bounty hunter sho-
Samus blasting through door only in varia and using wave beam.
Samus: ThE baBy!!!!1!11!.
4:24 finally realized that TAS notice was SMOOTH and clever. Holy Hell, nice one!
Good thing he got the spring ball so he could finally reach all those tricky areas.
The first chance Sniq had to lose health, they manipulated health pickups with the space pirates to get their energy to 69. Nice.
lmao no more nice likes
33:44 "We are glad to present you : The Ball"
Wow, this is the most impressive run I've seen yet, that X-Ray Scope is broken AF! XD
It's surprising how mundane and normal items can just demolish games when it comes to TAS runs lol
19:50 makes me question my sanity
I did not know about that glitch the last time I saw a TAS of Super Metroid.
That is your paradigm shifting without a clutch.
31:53
my brain went into error 404
My second favorite SNES Game ever. Impressive work, dude got the X-ray Scope without the Grappling Beam. Dude just glitched through the entire game.
what's your #1 favorite. chrono trigger?
@@Numinor31 Street Fighter 2 Turbo followed by Contra 3: Alien Wars.
@@aubreynorton4470 ah. contra 3 was great indeed
@@Numinor31 I'd like it better if it wasn't difficulty-fetish oriented
Dark Souls gets mentioned all the time in regards to difficulty but that game is piss easy compared to Contra III, at least you have checkpoints that are reasonable and there's not constant BS thrown at you
This is some insane routing, I can tell a lot of effort went into this. Good job
That's it.
From now on these speedruns need to be narrated by the TASer to explain how these glitches work.
Charging up a shine spark while standing still and then, on top of that, using it to clip through entire biomes is ludicrous!
This just proves Shaktool is the GOAT and can’t be messed with even with this amazing TAS
34:50 gotta love when Samus walks very slowly
56:30 and the very slow fall
37:17 BLEW MY MIND that attik room is a tought one to do RTA but here its just insane
This game has evolved so much, it's truly incredible.
Devolved would be the more appropriate term. The game has been used and abused so thoroughly that it has a permanent bowlegged walk.
Bosses
15:00 Kraid
23:20 Ridley
25:56 Golden Torizo
27:35 Crocomire

METAL MAN Thanks.
Wait where's normal torizo?
Oh my god he escaped the room without even activating the cutscene-
@@ksubswithnovideos-us7bn ikr 🤣
That Kraid fight had me rolling in the floor lmao
5:48
Even the little statues were like.
😬 "Wut" 😬
An overwhelming majority of this TAS is literally just listening to the item found theme. And I don't mind that.
I think the song is gonna get stuck in my head.
I hate it, it's a horrible design choice.
@@aktchungrabanio6467if you’re being serious, you’re an idiot. Yes, even a year later.
I love how the game just constantly tells you how to use missiles like you haven’t got over ten missile packs at that point.
Just let them think what they want to...
I presume part of it's just the structure of the game ROM only allowing one popup type per powerup, someone fact check me if not
But you might forget!
I absolutely cannot wait to see when the TAS finally gets 100% in sub one hour
Samus is just 100% completely ignoring the laws of physics 🤣🤣🤣

He even takes the elevators with shinespark !!!
Lesta Sixty-Eight typical speed runner moves
Walls are a suggestion.
This game was legendary. Still have my copy!
I have no words to say i am enjoying every second of this super entertaining show
thank you.....
Joe.
9:02 I don't know what I just witness but that was amazing.
Yes that's the one that confused me most - that floor needs power bombs no? Somehow some glitch allowed him to pass right through.
@@ryanjay6241 If I'm remembering correctly, it has to do with the TAS building up enough speed in order to clip through the floor
nice work on the intermission segments
Torizo: how dare you taki--
Samus: Did i hear i fly?
Phantoon just looks down at the ground like "wtf just happened"
Amazing play! :)
love this game. will always be my fav.
The Mother Brain kill in this run is ridiculous
Ah, a TAS that doesn't ignore the Varia Suit! Nice! Liked!
This tas is 100% so the varia suit MUST be picked up
@@jacksongaming854 If you get the gravity suit before varia it'll still count as 100%, and that's how this 100% TAS that was done before. It seems they found a faster route while getting the varia suit first.
Kraid is far too easy to kill. Not sure why you wouldn't pick it up first. I don't speed run, but I do like skipping Varia for my own personal amusement. @@rodrigo-oliveira-86
props to the madlad who tagged each item found intermission and added them into sponsorblock
Alright, who gave Doctor Strange a Chozo suit?
I'd like to imagine this is the power suit doing this in it's own with no one inside it
Chozo Tech lmao
cool, Samus remembered she can use energy tanks for extreme powers
Whoa I had no idea the chozo statue fight was skippable in the beginning. Then again you would have to be hella quick to make it through the gate before it shut.
It's a tas only trick.
@@hugojmaia its human possible, something like 42 frames and you have to get the 8 pixel grab from a wall kick on the bomb pickup. really hard to do, but it is possible.
Jonid Crushfire it’s only possible on PAL. On NTSC it requires frame perfect arm pumping and a subpixel perfect item pickup. It also only works 50% of the time because door transitions are only active every other frame.
CScottyW so you’re saying there’s a chance...?
@@ctrlaltdestroy91 no.
Shoutouts to the person who painstakingly marked every single cutscene on Sponsorblock as an intermission. I don't agree with doing that, but I'm glad it's there anyway.
bro just said "aight im out" to golden torizo i cant
15:12 jumping on Krause at 52 energy is SAVAGE
This run is nuts :o
34:44 the best part
BEST run i ever seen
55:42 and here I thought teleporting with the x-ray shinespark was cursed
26:10
Hello-
Bye!
2× speed is what we all saw when we got chased by the SA-X.
Amazing.
19:39 here we go, something new to me
like 20:39 , just to save time... xD
24:51 reverse hellrun ...
they also should rename the run to "X-Ray Abuse TAS"
One can wonder how mangled human hands would look lik if somebody performed exactly frame by frame lik the TAS did?...! Both hands would turn to shredded meat before becoming stumps!! Eff that lol
can someone explain to me how tf that glitch works with the short running/fly+x-ray trick?
Kraid: You can't beat me, samus!
Samus: Obliterates kraid
Now this is sickk...lovee itt 😁🤪🤪🤪🥳🥳🥳
X-ray scope? More like: *X-treme noclip device*
Remember kids, safety in second place!
This is insane!!!!!!!!!
6:17 😧

Very interesting
Lore-accurate Samus
*gets X-ray scope*
Speed runner: “wow, this is worthless”
not this one
4:28 Start of Zebes
Mom come pick me up, I'm scared
Why can't a TAS include saving the Etecoons and Dachoras? T_T
Samus used to be a delivery driver.
Awesome
He escaped in under 27 seconds...
2:33:13 on the timer...
wut
Will there ever be a updated Low% of Super Metroid?
This is insane to someone who played the original.
Wow. Whoever programmed this bot really knew waht is possible. I can imagine such a consistent Bluesuit glitch makes the best speedrunners jealous. Impressive video :).
Just in case you don't know, a human created all of the button presses
Bot? That'd be against the TAS rules.
Da na na na na na na na na na na na naaaaaaah
Can someone explain / link me to an explanation of how to do the cool xray shinesparks
1:01:33 was sick looking...def not humanly possible
34:42 that was awesome

Somebody gonna make a gif of that moonwalk?
set speed has 0.75 its perfect
they always get the bad ending, why don't the animals go out
Jesus, a 26.82 escape.
I just noticed when sniq had his first chance to take damage he manipulated the energy drops to get his energy to 69
bug my mint, omg.... very cool bro...
When the items loading screen are longer than the gameplay itself....
Wonderful! Liked and Subbd!
"WTF is going ooon"
i didn't know skipping torizo is also possible in us version
didn't save the animals 😢
Joga muito continue sempre assim parabéns pelas suas games play
Is 9:05 humanly possible to reproduce and if so, how?
Suprisingly yes, this is actually one of the things you can do outside of TAS. Easier to set up in the adjacent room though.
Would have LOVED this as a "resurrection" instead of G&G.
エンタメ性強すぎる
So the graphics is lower than zero mission right??
Why did the graphics need fixing?
Yes, why?
If you watch the unfixed version of the video, there's BS all over the screen, graphics duplication, doors out in the middle of the room. I'm guessing the fixed version got rid of all that.
But I would appreciate an explanation of why the graphics were messed up, and how they were fixed. Lol
From the author's comments: "A secondary encode is being provided with fixed graphics, thanks to the creation of a LUA script for Bizhawk by PJBoy that alters the VRAM. All Super Metroid TASes created with Bizhawk and Lsnes are compatible with each other.
More specifically, this LUA script automatically:
Centers misaligned doors (to prevent permanent graphical issues)
Allows graphics to scroll & update while using X-Ray
Prevents graphical errors that would occur if Samus moved faster than 16px per frame
Follows Samus while she is off-screen (doesn't work yet, but will soon)
Fortunately, VRAM doesn't impact a Super Metroid TAS's ability to sync."
@@Brycepop Excellent! Thanks for that. I didn't see it. Very interesting...
28:00.. It's hard to go up with the bombs and this guy does it horizontally..
